Ubers Team that got me to 3rd on the Leaderboards, but still sucks

An Ubers RMT

Now I know the number of OU players greatly outnumber the Uber players, as the wait period between ladder matches are exceptionally longer, but I guess the extra times buys me time to make it look like im doing my homework.

Anyways, this is a team, that despite me asking left and right for advice, has largely stayed the same throughout its existence. The first time I got into ubers was during an ubers Smogon Tour that coincided with my first days of Shoddy Battle, which I defeated some mod who will remain unnamed, then I saw Fabbles go on to win it and I asked him for help, and he gladly obliged. Unfortunately, my internet went down for some time shortly afterward, so I never really got a chance to use my team. I returned about a week after the implementation of the Platinum changes, and man did they ever ruin me!

It took me about 20 minutes to review the changes and make some adjustments to my team, luckily for all of us, im a fast adapter

So without further a due, here is the team that got me to 3rd on the Smogon Ubers Ladder, although I must admit I don’t really feel like I belong there as many of the great community members below me are only below me because they either don’t play Ubers anymore or, ahh I don’t know

Here we go
deoxys-fr.png
Machamp (Deoxys-f) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/4 SAtk
Hasty nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Extremespeed
- Superpower
- Stealth Rock
- Grass Knot
I forgot to note almost all my pokemon have funky RBY nicknames, and Deoxys’ multi limbs remind me of Machamp to an extent, corny I know, but bear with me.
Anyways, SR support is almost needed in order to stop Sash Pokemon switching in and out laughing at my entire team, and also to make some 2HKO like Lugia’s Ice Beam to Rayquaza to a OHKO.
The attacking moves chosen were due to my experiences with some other Uber leads, including Articanus’s Groudon(major pain), DruggedFox’s Dialga, and max speed lets me tie ExtremeSpeeds with some lead Deoxys, who will occasionally carry Espeed.
---
kyogre.png
Shellless Lapras (Kyogre) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 240 HP/28 Spd/240 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Surf
- Thunder
- Water Spout
Not your quintessential wall breaker, but this is as good as it gets. At full health, the main walls in the metagame, Blissey and Lugia don’t stand a chance. Lugia wont live unless it carries Thunder, or the even rarer critical AeroBlast, Blissey is too slow and gets Water Spouted on the Switch, then another one as it cant protect in time to recover. Also my main weather changer against the likes of Groudon and Tyranitar.
---
palkia.png
Pink Dragonite (Palkia) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Spd/252 SAtk/6 SpDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Surf
- Thunder
- Spacial Rend
My main revenge killer, and while Scarf Dialga may seem to be better in terms of resistances, Dialga is already taken on my team, AND, scarf palkia can outspeed Jolly Rayquaza with One Dragon Dance, who would otherwise be unstoppable. Mewtwo and Darkrai, 2 of the fastest pokemon in existence, don’t stand a chance against Draco Meteor or Surf under the rain. Although if this is the last pokemon against an enemy Dialga and the Dialga has more health than Draco Meteor can destroy, ill be doomed, but ideally that situation would be avoided.
---
dialga.png
Tauros with Jewelry (Dialga) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/4 Atk/252 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Bulk Up
- Substitute
- Magnet Rise
- Outrage
The amounts of counters to this, by the truest definition of the word is 2. Groudon and Metagross. You might think, what if another steel type like Skarmory or Forresstress come in? Come on now, what could either of them do to me? Even Jirachi will be worn down with enough Bulk Ups under by belt, and Jirachi isn’t fazing me anything soon. Also my toxic absorber, Lati twins stopper, but I must be near full health and it must be an immediate switch, unless I receive some parasupport from…
---
lugia.png
Giant Farfetch'd (Lugia) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 136 HP/124 Def/248 Spd/2 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Thunder Wave
- Roost
- Reflect
Ahh a GSC legend. The way it seems these days, Celebi is more used than either Lugia, or its faint cousin Ho-oh, who is nowhere to be seen. Lugia serves several purposes that itll be hard to find another replacement for. Due to the influx of Scarf Palkia and Scarf Dialga, Lugia is the perfect switch in to Twave them or the switch in, as Lugia is basically a dragon resist with a Calm nature, I mean I take like 20 percent from a ScarfDialga Dragon Pulse. The Evs given in speed let me outspeed Max Speed Jolly Rayquaza by a point, and even with SR I will live the Espeed, or it chooses Outrage, with my own SR up, it wont get the chance to attack me. Also outstalls EVERY Groudon Variant but one, and that’s the one that has(hope Absol doesn’t read this) both Rock Polish AND Stone Edge, at which point I wont be able to Roost off the Damage in time, and that’s bad. Otherwise, Im faster than Groudon and can take Stone Edges like a machine, at least behind a Reflect. Then I just outstall with Ice Beam. Runs into trouble with SpecsKyogre, but who doesn’t? In that situation, I would Twave it to make it basically useless, aka my Dialga will be faster and can outrage it, severly dropping Water Spout some notches. Could be replaceable, but I like the GSC representation and it hasn’t done anything to warrant a replacement except for inviting SpecsKyogre(again, who doesn’t) and TauntMew2(Extinct) or Darkrai to come in. Come to think of it, that’s quite a list of unwanted guests!
---
rayquaza.png
Shiny Ekans (Rayquaza) @ Life Orb
Ability: Air Lock
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/4 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Extremespeed
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance
Perhaps the biggest threat in all of Ubers, this can 5-0 entire teams if played correctly(I assume my Deoxys to be dead real fast) The reason why I use Dragon Dance instead of the seemingly better Swords Dance is because from my experience, there comes a time when Swords Dance Rayquaza’s only attack is ExtremeSpeed, and that runs into trouble with Scarf Steel Types, most notably the new ScarfDialga. I expect to come in on a Thunder that targeted my Lugia or Kyogre, and most will be unwilling to try another thunder as I can survive one(not specs, but the accuracy is the throw-offer.) I Dragon Dance, at which point the only things that can stop me are my Scarf Palkia, if I get caught on an Outrage by a Metagross that can take 2 outrages and still live somehow, or Scarf Darkrai/Mewtwo (Again, 2 extinct species). Also Groudon can be a huge problem as well as some Lugia that have 3 tons of Def Evs just to survive a +1 Life Orb Outrage. But try it out and it will not disappoint in the right hands, as it can singlehandedly bring you back from large deficits, courtesy of one particular Train Man experience….
Its not the best of teams, that’s for sure, as I lose quite frequently(or perhaps its because im bad. But that’s what this RMT is for!. For you supposed master raters to help me figure out some weak areas, as clearly there are billions of errors. Feel free to copy it, but I assure you you’ll be better off building your own team as this team sucks so bad.

The Uber Threat List
Wobbuffet:….
Mewtwo: Unpredicatble, taunts Lugia’s attempts to cripple, but generally Kyogre can survive Thunders to KO with Surf or bring it in KO range for Deo Xspeed, Quaza Xspeed, or Palkia
Mew: Baton Passing Mew with Rock Polish cannot be stopped, so lets try not to use it people…
Groudon: Lugia takes on almost all variants, but it can be worn down by Groudon
Kyogre: Specs Kyogre WILL take down at least one pokemon, and most likely will switch in to my Lugia, so I cripple with Twave and let Dialga have some fun with Outrage
Rayquaza: Lugia either Ice Beams SDRay, or forces DDRay into Outrage as I wont die to any other attack, so it can be revenge killed by Palkia. Nothing can really switch into an Outrage, so like SpecsKyogre, it will take down at least one pokemon
DeoxysA: Most lead versions are Espeeded by my own Deoxys, if it doesn’t win the speed tie, then revenge kill with Palkia or Rayquaza
DeoxysD: Dialga to take Toxic, Kyogre to Water Spout
Ho-oh: SR halves its HP, Kyogre can survive most assaults to KO with Surf
Lugia: Kyogre Surf/Water Spout
Celebi: Annoying, but can be beaten easily with Patience
Jirachi: Kyogre Surfs, Palkia Surfs, Rayquaza Earthquakes
Dialga: I lack Groudon, so Bulk Up Dialga will give me problems unless I can wear it down with Lugia behind a reflect, who once remarkably only took 40 percent from a Dragon Claw behind a reflect, however Outrage will not be so kind…
Palkia: Lugia can take most versions as long as it avoids a Thunder, Twave it, Dialga can also take those without Specs AuraSphere
Latias/ Latios: Dialga can take 1 Dragon Pulse/Maybe Meteor? And KO with Outrage, otherwise TWave with Lugia and Outrage with Ray, these 2 could be potentially devastating
Darkrai: Dialga to take sleep, run off to Kyogre for Thunderless versions or Palkia, but a switch in to Spacial Rend is a tragedy
Giratina Land Form: Dialga can normally outstall with resttalking outrage, otherwise a Palkia Draco Meteor/Rayquaza Outrage says good night
Giratina Origin Form: More threatening than the orginal(heh) Giratina, but takes hits worse, again, Dialga/Palkia/Rayquaza
Blissey: Kyogre 2HKO with Water Spout, BU Dialga, last resort Rayquaza
Metagross: Kyogre can take Meteor Mashes and OHKO with Surf
Tyranitar: Kyogre can eliminate SandStorm Boost and KO with Surf, or Rayquaza EQ
Scizor: Kyogre resists Bullet Punch, is faster and KO with Surf
Skarmory: could be dangerous because I lack a strong Fire type move, If Kyogre Dies then I go to Palkia, if Palkia is down then im done fore
Forresstress: See Skarmory
Bronzong: See Skarmory
Heracross: Lugia behind a reflect can stall out Stone Edges, otherwise Palkia can revenge kill, altho I doubt it will be talking out anything on my team
Garchomp: Lugia can take Scarf Variants, however Banded versions are a different story, hopefully Lugia can set up a reflect and Palkia can revenge with Spacial Rend
Manaphy: Kyogre Thunder, Palkia Thunder, or a dirty trick I like to play, switch to Rayquaza as it Rests, free Dragon Dance, lol
Dugtrio: Like Wobbuffet, uncounterable, can only be revenged, esp if I get caught on Kyogre or Palkia Thunder
Weavile: Not really worried, Lugia takes minimal damage from even his STAB attacks, set up reflect, switch to Dialga or Kyogre who can usually handed him
Shedinja: IM 6-0ed by it if the other team rapid spins, so Im looking to add a fire attack on team somewhere, even though the only weather on my team is rain. Perhaps Overheat Rayquaza, or Fire Blast Mewtwo?
Heatran: Kyogre, Palkia, Surf it to the center of the Earth
So, In conclusion, the biggest threats to my team are
1. Baton Passing Mew, with Rock Polish
2. Dark Void Nasty Plot Darkrai
3. Rock Polish Groudon
4. Scarf Dialga is always a big pain
5. Skarm/Zong/Forry
6. Shedinja
As previously stated, I’ve had a lot of help in the development of this team, largely from some of the greats. Even with their expertise, it still sucks, but its in no way their fault, and can be blamed on my lack of skill. So, in no particular order:
Articanus, DruggedFox, Absol, Ike123, Fabbles, Jibaku, Rayku(tho he was mostly hindering, but just to be nice…), Train Man for all the great(identical) experiences
And also to anyone I stomped on my ascension to superstardom, lol kidding, I’d be the first to tell you the names I stated above and many others are better battlers

Even though I am mad at you for constantly fixing your team to beat mines I'll rate it anyway <.<

After many defeats of this team (=P) I'll say that your biggest weakness has been CMLatias. Dialga can't constantly switch in because after a calm mind dragon pulse is a 2HKO.

If you wanna keep your offensive look going you could try Metagross or CBTar but I can't find a place to fit them in.

Solid team.

Ah yeah we played yesterday as far as I remember... I owned you with Groudon because my Stone Edge crit-ed you (well it missed one time so I guess that it was fair)

Your team is a boring standard one as mine. The only difference is that I use Groudon instead of Palkia.

lol you always rape my team.

I remember one of the only times I beat you was when Lugia was dead and SD rayquaza was able to sweep. So you probably need to keep lugia alive, since earthquake kills Dialga and extreme speed will wreck everything else, except Kyogre might live.

The only thing other pokes that can take on SD rayquaza besides Lugia are scarfdialga and scarf gengar. But I'm not sure how any of them would fit in.

Why would Gengar need a Scarf? He needs those glorious 248 SpEvs. Froslass can kill him too and she is probably the best pokemon for killing SD Quaza(although it is her only function in the metagame)

I think that Kyogre can't survive any kind of Outrage from Ray.

Well scarf can make it a decent check against both SD and DD quazas. And a very useful revenger overall.

And Kyogre can't survive outrage: tried it, didn't work at all.

I'm really really not liking your Lati@s coverage. Dialga in no way stops them, since it's 2HKO'd by a boosted Dragon Pulse from them both. You would be forced to use Outrage and almost every Uber team carries a steal, making him an easy target for something like Metagross to have a free switch in. I would really like to see you run something like Bulk Up / Rest / Magnet Rise / Outrage. Now sure this set looks really weird, but the only true counter for Bulk Up Dialga is Groudon, now unless it has Roar, it's going to lose 80% of the time.

Your team lacks no way of hitting Shedninja other than Stealth Rocks, so Toxic on Lugia looks like a must. Sure Dialga can outstall him however I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to spend hours waiting for him to go into struggle.

I prefer Swords Dance over Dragon Dance on Rayquaza. You'll find Extreemspeed OHKO's tons of shit making his speed quite useless.

This post offends me for my name not showing up anywhere. @_@

lol sorry tu-faint, forgot about you
magnet rise dialga?
then ill be useeless while resting
SDRay will get stonewalled by ScarfDialga, Scarf Metagross, and DDRay has more sweeping potential

Toxic on Lugia, well that kind of defeats the purpose of it using TWave to cripple Scarfers and their switch in, and double status isnt an option because Lugia needs all the other moves

but ill try Magnet Rise Dialga, would you suggest magnet rising as they switch, then groudon's best bet is Dragon Claw

also, who do you guys suggest for stopping Latios and Latias, as they will be big threats to me

I would use:

Tyranitar @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Stream
EV's: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SDef
Careful Nature(+SDef, -SAtk)
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

Takes +1 Grass Knot very well and takes it out with Crunch. Or you could try Metagross or Scizor but beware since Thunder will hurt you a lot.

I'd be very wary of having 3 choice pokemon on one team. Too many free switches. I'd say trapping scizor would be the best of the bunch, since bullet punch hurts frail sweepers A LOT. In any case though, these pursuit pokemon almost always warrant free switches. I just say Scizor because he's probably the most useful to use LO on since he can also roost off damage.

The point of Magnet Rise is to use it on the switch, giving you time for some free boosts. After 3 or so Bulk Ups Groudons Earthquake will do a mere 30%. You'll still have enough spD to take on Darkrais Focus Blast and such as well, allowing you to hit it with Outrage.

why dont i use DDTTar, after a DD, max speed TTar could outspeed Latios, and i DD on the Switch

I guess it would work but most of the time your opponent will be switching to their Tyranitar counter which will most likely be Groudon. Wouldn't you just use pursuit on the switch =P

Yeah, there are too many pokemon that easily beat T-tar to the ground. Mewtwo and Darkrai don't even need scarfs to outspeed the big fella, and there are a lot of supercharged surfs out (scarf kyogre) that easily stop the sweep.

i suppose, but CBTtar is as close of a counter to the Lati Twins as they come, except perhaps Weavile but its useless in other areas

Train Man's TTar uses Dragon Dance to great success, but its the 252 Atk 252 Speed variant, it wont be eating too many Grass Knots or Aura Spheres

That's Train Man lol. He has the right team to set up that TTar to DD.

oh yea, Train Man's team goes back further than mine
hes had that team since the Dinosaurs roamed the earth, and like me is a knucklehead and isnt willing to change his team
he just plays through the changing environment

Thunder Wave SD Groudon can prove to be quite a handful for this team, especially if it carries SE over Dragon Claw. Your only pokemon that can take Thunder Wave, Dialga, is forced out immediantly if it doesn't have a couple of BUs under its belt. After forcing it out, it can freely paralyze a crucial member of your team, being your physical wall, a wall breaker, an endgame sweeper, and a fast revenge-killer(this is assuming that your Deoxys-a is dead, and even that doesn't like T-wave). The only way I could suggest to fix this would be changing your Dialga to a BU/ Outrage/ Sub/ Magnet Rise version @ Lum Berry: you could argue saying the lack of a sleep talker makes you more vulnerable to Darkrai, but even then Sleep Talking isn't the best way to beat it anyway, especially if it relies on a substitute of its own. You also have Kyogre, who can take a LOed NPed Dark Pulse even after a single SR, a faster revenge kille in the form of Palkia, a priority user in Rayquaza, and it just dies a very quick and painful death if it bothers to try to sleep ialga before it uses the Lum Berry. If you must have a sleep talker, you can go for something bold like putting it on Palkia over Draco Meteor, but I wouldn't greatly reccomend that. To be honest, I know I suggested taking out Lugia but I think it does the job best looking on the team again. Scizor is a great replacement if you get tired of SpecsOgre coming in for free, though!

ahh articanus, coming through with the brilliant ideas once again

Magnet Rise Dialga was already suggested, but in the form of Rise/BU/Rest/Outrage

that didnt work out too well, and im not sure ill get the time to magnet rise because Dialga would be 2hkoed by +1 Latias Dragon Pulse, and Latios hits even harder

so ill have to outrage immediatly, often inviting groudon to come in for free
as it stands now, Latios and Latias are my biggets concerns because my supposed counter, Dialga, isnt too reliable especially if the opponent switches to Groudon

so, would this scizor of yours also stop the threats that my Dialga is supposed to wall, named the Lati Twins, a STatus Absorber, a Scarf Palkia killer, and Kyogre Wall?

Lugia doesn't wall Kyogre and nothing really does so go ahead and get over that.

I just listed why you didn't need a status absorber for darkrai in my other post. in fact, Scizor over Lugia would only help to add to your Darkrai counters, since Bullet Punch takes off a Large Deal and you resist Dark Pulse.

Looking at my usual set:

Scizor @ Life Orb
Technitian: Adamant
32 HP, 100 Attack, 124 Speed, 252 Sp. Defense
U-Turn
Bullet Punch
Pursuit
Roost

Kyogre actually help this guy out, since now HP Fire from either lati twins don't OHKO anymore. It takes less from Palkia and Dialga's dragon moves, but the problem is you need to be careful to come in on the right ones. The key is to bring in Rayquaza if they try to predict your switch-in. In practice, NOTHING can come into this set for free: U-Turn allows you to have a powerful STAB attack, AND lets you go to one of your other four(again, assuming Deoxys-a is gone) pokemon for free.

This way, if you go with my Magnet Rise Dialga suggestion and put Scizor over Lugia, you lack a status absorber but you still have a Lati twin counter(Scizor), and a scarf Palkia killer(which you can handle better than you think). You may think I'm crazy, but I suggest using Outrage on your Palkia over Draco Meteor, if your REALLY want to make sure the Lati twins, even after 6 CMs, won't ever sweep you. It also 2HKOs Blissey, which will set up SR to slowly drain your Palkia's ability to revengekill priority users like Rayquaza,it will drain Kyogre's Water Spout to eventually avoid the 2HKO, and it just cuts through Rayquaza. Dialga wouldn't care coming into Blissey, since with max HP you can make 101 subs and you have a Lum berry to take the initial Thunder Wave and SR means you get in for free. This would be if you were looking for a way to beat Blissey 100% though.

ahh Outrage on Palkia?
that may be a good idea so i wont get walled by Blissey to the death if Dialga dies

but i was never a Fan of outrage because ScarfPalkia is meant to switch in and out, if i manage to kill something with outrage its highly unlikely they'll bring out another victim of Outrage, and if they bring out a Steel Type like Forry who can set up, or worse, a Status inflicter, especially TWave Jirachi, Hypnosis Bronzong, it can very well spell the end for me, or at least my Palkia

Well that's why you shouldn't use it until late game by using your other two dragons to wear down those steels.

By the way, please edit your team if you've made any changes. It makes it easier to look over to see if I missed something. =3

oh yes of course, the changes will be in Bold
i changed the Dialga to the Magnet Rise Variant, but i dont know how many attacks it can take without the ability to recover lost health, while it does make me less vulnerable to groudon, it also means i wont have much staying power on the field

also, perhaps you already mentioned the EV spread for your Rise Dialga, that lets it take special attacks, outspeed something and maintain a decent amount of attack power

P.S. I have made one other change to my team, concerning my Lead Deoxys
but i promised I would never reveal it, unless in battle which even then tis a tragedy
but yea, Dialga was the only change I made
Im also contemplating the Scizor for Lugia transaction, because as it remains now, both are SpecsKyogre Bait, Scizor cant take ScarfKyogre either, and while Scizor does combat the LatiTwins better, without Lugia SDRay could potentially rip through my team, much along the same lines Groudon would if Lugia left, because Scizor isnt going to stop either of them

It may sound silly but putting light screen on lugia could be very useful against Kyogre. Kyogre is obviously a very popular switch in, so with light screen, a water spout after SR damage is only around 46%, which either lets you stall out the water spouts completely or give you a free switch into say, Palkia or Rayquaza. Between light screen, air lock, and Rayquaza's resist, you cut down water spout to half damage, which gives a free DD or two. And if you wanted, you could slap a yache berry on him so that the most popular counter to rayquaza, Lugia, does only around 20% with light screen/yache, giving you a second DD. At that point, you can basically use extreme speed like a SD version (-LO), but also outspeed everything in the game.

Just an idea, though I can see so much going wrong trying that out. But it could give you a lot of very fast sweeps.
