Welcome to the Ubers UU Ghosting Tournament! This will be the first ghosting tournament held within the Ubers UU format, and I am pleased to announce that thanks to our donors, this tournament will have a prize pool of $900!

Rules

Battle Rules:

  • This tournament will be played in Ubers UU.
  • This tournament will be use a double elimination, best-of-1 format. Repeats are required in the event of a tie.
  • If a change is made to the tier (a mon is banned/unbanned), changes would not go into effect until the next round.
  • If you're playing on the main server, please make the room public for spectating purposes. If your room is hidden, type /modjoin off and /publicroom.
  • Timer: Do NOT turn on the timer in your battle until after 15 minutes have passed since it started. This is non-negotiable, unless it is stated by both teams at the start of the match as agreed upon having the timer on before the 15 minute mark. Use the servertime command to keep track of this (see below). This is to allow enough time to properly ghost.
    • In order to keep track of 15 minutes, type !st in the chat when the battle begins. Type !st in the chat again when you want to turn the timer on. Agreement from both sides is not required.
    • If you're on SmogTours, ask anyone that has a %, @, or ~ next to their name to turn off the timer in your battle. Try to make sure that a staff member is online before you start playing. If there isn't one, play on Main. If the timer does not get turned off before the match progresses into being played past the lead screen, let the timer run out and redo the game.
  • Replays: you must post a replay of your win. You can hide it or unlist it, but you have to post it.

Ghosting Rules:

  • You can ghost (clue's in the name) within your team's roster.
  • Teams are to be made up of 3 players. One of these three players will be your “Captain”, who is in charge of registering your team.
  • A majority of your team (preferably entire) should be present at a battle, so it's probably a good idea to form a team with similar timezones and availabilities. At minimum, 2 of your players should be present during the match and any absences are at the discretion of the player themselves. Your Captain MUST be present, however.
  • You are allowed to ghost over a voice call, or using text logs. Proof of ghosting must be provided in either format, and linked when you submit the replay. Losers can choose to post their ghosting logs but are not required.
    • If you're playing on Main and have a trusted user on your team, make a groupchat (/makegroupchat) to do your ghosting if you choose to use text ghosting. It makes it easy to just copy and paste the logs into a pastebin.
    • If you're playing on SmogTours or on Main but without a trusted user, use Discord, but make sure to copy and paste your logs while in compact mode.
    • If you're in a voice call, you'll need to record a video and audio of your call and, if possible, the battle. Upload it to YouTube.
    • Make sure to choose a format that works best of the entire team.

How the Money will be distributed:

  • This tournament will be a Winner-takes-all format, where the first-place team takes home the entire prize pool.
  • Captains will be in charge of determining how to split the prize pool within their teams. To avoid conflict, ensure that every member is on board with the amounts they would get before registering your teams.

Other than that, all tournament rules and guidelines apply (minus the ones about ghosting, obviously). Failure to comply with these rules will result in a loss or a coinflip.

mood swing (Ewin Reje)  vs  the fino (Suzuya MAVERICK SHOOTERS Ampha)

As a reminder, if the fino wins this current round there will be one more round with both in loser's bracket to decide the winner of the tournament.

Lastly, as tier was banned recently, mood swing will only have two players going forward. Ewin is the new captain.

Deadline for Finals Matches is Sunday, October 27th, at 23:59 EST (GMT -4).

Good luck to all of our teams!

Me and my team would like to claim activity win.

Me and Reje had originally scheduled our game for 7:00pm +1, to which I we requested the time be pushed back by 30 mins, seeing as I would be late and we didn’t want to risk an activity loss, to which the fino replied with this being a deal breaker but rather accepted a 15 minute delay to the original time, thus changing the scheduled time to 7:15pm +1.
Fast forward to today: Suzuya initially contacted us at 7:17pm +1, to which I responded after 3 minutes that I will be coming soon, as I had previously mentioned my bus would drop me off at 7:20pm +1, but it was delayed slightly and I first got home at around 7:40pm +1. Me and Reje pm’ed the alt “MavSuzAmp” at exactly 7:44pm +1, which is within the 30 minute grace period before calling an activity win after taking into the fact that a delay was clearly communicated multiple times. Was this cutting it close? Yes, but the rules clearly state that you must wait at least 30 minutes, as to accommodate for delays because unfortunately as much as I would like to eat sleep and play pokemon all day long I sadly cannot and stuff happpens.
After showing up Suzuya states that they are not willing to play the game anymore, seeing as supposedly their team had already left, despite the fact that Suzuya (the captain) and Ampha were both online on stours at this time and were actively typing in game chats and spectating games. Me and Reje responded to this saying we were well within our rights to still request the game he played and said we’d claim activity otherwise, which was met with Suzuya answering “sure buddy” and “hf playing at a time we want bye”.

Now that all the facts have been laid out I’d like to redirect your attention to the official rules:
It is clearly stated that if a player communicates a delay the affected party must wait at least 30 minutes before claiming act, quite the contrary to what Suzuya said in the pms. Other than this fact since we did indeed show up within that grace period the game must be played, it is not our fault that our opponents did not account for a delay when scheduling when we CLEARLY and REPEATEDLY warned them about a delay.

Other than that, all tournament rules and guidelines apply (minus the ones about ghosting, obviously). Failure to comply with these rules will result in a loss or a coinflip.

Me and my teammate waited 30 minutes after Suzuya said bye in case they showed up but they didn’t.
The facts are simple. We showed up within the scheduled time. Our opponents didn’t want to play. Our opponents used the fact that this is finals to essentially tell us fuck you, you won’t get an act win and dipped. We waited an extra 30 minutes for them to show which they didn’t. This team clearly has a history of abusing the fact that this is finals to get their way in a scheduling as can be seen in literally the previous round.

With this said, I’d also like to point out the fact that Suzuya and ampha were clearly available to play and the rules state only the captain and an extra player must be present which they literally were, but they ACTIVELY decided not to play the game. We did not agree to a different time, as in our pms I had mentioned that we would only do extended time if me and Reje couldn’t make this time, which we clearly managed to do.

There is also an additional factor that calls for an activity win, but I will be pm’ing this instead of stating it here.

(Also will quickly mention the fact that in the pms mav says scheduled time was an hour ago, but it wasn’t and they kept saying it’s disrespectful to be late but Idg how that affects anything as we we’re within our rights to show up late)

mood swing (Ewin Reje)  vs  the fino (Suzuya MAVERICK SHOOTERS Ampha)
Alright, I'm going to address this whole debacle before I head off for the night.

First - Act claim is denied. Based upon the timeline outlined and from the opinion of a TD, "coming soon" 5 mins after the scheduled time does not mean the activity call timer is extended to 30 minutes and instead remains the standard 15 minutes. Based off of that, mood swing was late and not the other way around.

Second - Having looked at the ghosting proof sent in for the Winner's Finals from two weeks ago, there is not enough proof to substantiate the legitimacy of the footage. Three minutes out of a roughly fifty minute set, in which the footage doesn't even make it past the lead screen. If this were a first-time scenario I would be more understanding but this was the second week in which footage corruption was supposedly an issue and thus mood swing should have used an alterative method to record ghosting logs or ensured that the audio worked properly before starting. Additionally, I was not informed of any potential issues with the footage until mood swing was prompted to post them two weeks after the set had been played, as their win post only indicated they would go up soon. I am not insinuating suspicious behavior, but this was incredibly poorly handled.

So, here is what will be done.

Both teams had already agreed to an extension time in the event of the fino winning this week - I will expect both teams to honor that time and play this week.

mood swing - I want you to send over any more evidence of ghosting logs you can find, and I want original timestamps from the files you have indicating that the logs are from the time that the set was played. If you cannot provide any more of these files, I will have to apply a penalty, and the finals match will be treated as both teams being in the loser's bracket. If additional ghosting logs proof can be provided, then if the fino wins I will expect the bracket reset match to be played properly.

While I will not mandate it, I strongly encourage this to be played back-to-back to avoid any more schedule problems.

It’s actually almost as if you didn’t read the scheduling logs of me literally saying my bus comes at 7:20 and I still have to walk home? How is this not a clear message that indicates delay?

I do not get this. The recording for the quarters week stopped early as did it last week. When I talked in pm’s it was mentioned that it was fine and now suddenly it is not? Sorry that I am not Houdini and can’t magically get the recording again. When I brought up the issue earlier this tour of a team literally having 0 proof of their ghosting logs as well as teams on multiple occasions not posting their logs these issues were ignored? If we hadn’t posted this act claim at all you wouldn’t have even posted this which I find fucking mind boggling.

This hosting and decision making reeks of partiality and clearly indicates to me that your taking sides.

Bruhs just play the game, save the logs, done. Nobody will care as long as the game gets played. Act win to get $900 ain’t happening unless it’s super blatant (not several time changes/delays and 1 minute before), frankly both teams are kinda absurd. And nobody will bother you about past logs either if you all just get the game done.

mood swing (Ewin Reje)  vs  the fino (Suzuya MAVERICK SHOOTERS Ampha)

After having received the requested pieces of information, I am satisfied with the primary concerns I had with the ghosting logs. Ewin has ensured that a dual recording will be performed in the finals to ensure this does not happen again.

mood swing's position in the winner's bracket remains. There will be no disqualification.

As there were some questions relating to format, finals is still best-of-1, even if mood swing loses this game. If mood swing wins, then the tournament is over, but if the fino wins it will be followed by another single best-of-1 to decide the winner. Thank you for your patience and best of luck to our finalists.
