Magearna @ Leftovers
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD

Magearna is counter to Yveltal as the dual typing of Magearna is just incredible to just sponge off very easily Yveltals dual STAB
options in Dark Pulse, Oblivion Wing and Sucker Punch. Magearna can just switch into anything Yveltal goes for and can even give Yveltals teammates trouble with
Pain-Split, Heart Swap and can slow Volt-Switch out to give yourself momentum in the process.

Calcs:
252+ SpA Life Orb Dark Aura Yveltal Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Magearna: 82-96 (22.5 - 26.3%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

Probably the most solid answer to Yveltal in the tier. It counter every set except Choice Spec, and check the Choice Spec set. Scarf set is a little tricky because of Flinch chance, but most of the time the Bird Antidote will come out on top.
Strictly speaking, a set with Calm Mind and/or Refresh would deal with all Yveltal even better, but who the hell run those on Rock Arc.
It 2HKO every possible Yveltal set, baring Charti Berry + max HP/Spec Def.

Arceus-Fairy as a counter
Arceus-Fairy @ Pixie Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind

Arceus-Fairy is the reason why you can't abuse Yveltal on this meta, as it can easily come into any of Yveltal's attacks, Recover if it needs to and then start setting up Calm Mind or 2HKO it with Judgment (or OHKO it after rocks), while Oblivion Wing can just 3HKO it even after rocks. Any set of Fairyceus works, with SR also being another great set due to punishing sets with U-turn, but CM threatens the opposing team more, has a better matchup against other sets like Metronome or Specs, and I just think it is the best Fairyceus set rn. It also has the best matchup out of any Arceus formes due to it resisting Dark Pulse at the same time that it has a super effective Judgment.

0 SpA Pixie Plate Arceus-Fairy Judgment vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Yveltal: 306-362 (77.8 - 92.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ SpA Life Orb Yveltal Oblivion Wing vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Arceus-Fairy: 161-191 (36.2 - 43%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock

Arceus-Dark with Calm Mind and Refresh is a good answer to Yveltal as none of its moves 2hko it and it sets up Calm Mind indefinitely. Due to it being faster than Yveltal it is able to recover when Taunt runs out or CM again, and after only a single CM you out damage the recovery and don't get 2hkoed. Taunt Toxic does present a problem if it comes in on Toxic as it can't set up Calm Mind without removing Toxic due to Taunt. Another problem is that it loses versus webs teams if webs are up. Overall though, Darkceus has a very good MU vs Yveltal in a most situations.

Mega Diancie is a hard check to all variants of Yveltal. While it does resist both STABs and coverage, its lack of recovery, bad bulk and Yveltal’s ability to U-turn out of it are what keep it from being a counter. Other than that, Diancie is faster, resists Sucker Punch, stops status shenanigans with Magic Bounce, has Rocks to clip Yveltal’s wings and can Heal Bell whatever mons got Toxic’d before Diancie came in. This makes it a rock-solid good answer to Yveltal.

Ttar as a counter resists dual stab and can hit hard with its rock stab. rock tomb can make ttar faster then yvetal allowing it to even rest if somehow it were to get low stealth rocks to punish yvetal for switching and sand+life orb damage also punishes yvetal from any sort of hit and run tatics and suit because i think ttar is somewhat unviable without suit.

Klefki can act as a solid check to Yvetal, but needs to look out for the occasional Heat Wave from Yvetal. Thunder Wave is there to cripple Yvetal so other team members can outspeed and revenge kill Ybird late game while Foul Play allows Klefki to better handle Scizor and Necro-DM that is accompanied with Yvetal.

Edit: Forgot Prankster mechanics, added Toxic and swapped Spikes. Klefki can put Ybird on a timer.

Toxic also is blocked, so you can't put Yveltal on a timer (tho I would put Spikes back there simply because you start to put more pressure on the opposing team instead of just being Necrozma or Groudon bait)

Tapu Koko is great to beat LO yveltal. Tapu koko has a good dual typing allowing it to resist both of yveltal's stabs, tapu koko also has a great speed tier allowing it to outspeed yveltal and pressure it with a powerfull thunderbolt/thunder or even Gigavolt Havoc to OHKO yveltal. Roost gives tapu koko reliable recovery and lets it recover most off if not all of the damage taken. The biggest problem of this set is dealing with Yveltal under webs as dark pulse easily 2HKO's with Tapu koko outsped by yveltal.

Check in a pinch

The bird vs the fish one on one is very violent and neither one will leave the field healthy if they are both left in. Kyogre fears flinches and Origin Pulse misses, while Yveltal fears being OHKOed by Thunder or Ice Beam after Stealth Rock damage or a couple of Life Orb activations as well as said Origin Pulse. Special attacking Kyogre variants must be brought in without taking one of Yveltal's attacks, otherwise Life Orb Sucker Punch knocks it out. The other Kyogre sets don't favor as well with the physical attacker simply not doing much damage unless Yveltal has being heavilly weakened defensive Kyogre being 2HKOed after Stealth Rock and being unable to OHKO back without a larger amount of previous damage than the physical attacker needs.

I said this already but the special attacking sets are a check in a pinch. If you need to keep your Arceus-Fairy, Magearna, or other counter healthy and can't afford to use a passive recovery move to do so, this works. That being said, Special attacking Kyogre's health is valuable for many applications that allow it to use its obscene attacks; do not use it for this unless absolutely needed. I could go on with ways this Kyogre works against offensive Yveltal teams, but I think this paints the macroscopic relationship these two have rather well.

Kyogre @ Blue Orb
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature

- Origin Pulse
- Ice Beam

Kyogre @ Blue Orb
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Origin Pulse
- Ice Beam
- Thunder
- Filler

+Spe natures can be used on these, but Life Orb Yveltal can also run +Spe and the nature boost does not change the Sucker Punch piece of the Kyogre vs Yveltal equation.

Oh, Specs and Scarf Kyogre can also do this to some degree (it isn't great), but they are also a Scarf or Specs Kyogre and are rather niche as is on top of this somewhat uncommon situation.

This set is pretty good and doesnt lose to gengar too , you can knock off the life orb and oblivion wing is a 6hko without lifeorb . If anyone stays in to try and heal (18.1 - 21.5% recovered) gunk shot will 2hkot(41.9 - 49.6%) yveltal cant really do anything and this beats all yveltal sets besides uturn . You also carrya high poison chance with muks passive which will help vs his recovery.

252+ SpA Life Orb Dark Aura Yveltal Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Arceus-Ice: 214-253 (48.1 - 56.9%) -- 91% chance to 2HKO
252+ SpA Life Orb Dark Aura Yveltal Dark Pulse vs. +1 252 HP / 0 SpD Arceus-Ice: 142-169 (31.9 - 38%) -- 94.9% chance to 3HKO

Tapu Koko @ Electrium Z
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 8 Def / 248 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Roost
- U-turn
- Thunderbolt/Thunder
- Nature's Madness

252+ SpA Life Orb Yveltal Oblivion Wing vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Tapu Koko: 120-140 (42.7 - 49.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ SpA Life Orb Dark Aura Yveltal Dark Pulse vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Tapu Koko: 159-187 (56.5 - 66.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
248 SpA Tapu Koko Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Yveltal in Electric Terrain: 360-426 (91.6 - 108.3%) -- 50% chance to OHKO
248 SpA Tapu Koko Gigavolt Havoc (175 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Yveltal in Electric Terrain: 702-828 (178.6 - 210.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

- Water Spout
- Calm Mind
