Ultimate Gachomp Set? (Garchomp discussion)

**Note to Moderators, I did a search and had a friend do two searches to make sure there were no recent Gachomp topics.**

Yeah I know that there is already a lot of speculation surrounding Gachomp and how good it is. But I think this set maximizes its potential and I'm pretty sure no one has posted it yet. Try it out if you have a chance.

Now, you're looking at it like a typical set. But when used in conjunction with Sandstorm (sub and sandstorm credit go to Council/IPL) I think the full power of Gachomp can be realised. Sub once you move in to counter something (this helps check for ice as well as put up something to see what the next pokemon is). Depending on their counter you can Swords dance, use fire fang or Outrage if you want. But behind sandstorm you can possibly avoid attacks and get the Swords dance in without taking a hit. If you do this and you have a sd'ed gachomp in behind a sub, you've prolly got a big chance to sweep the opposing team...if not sweep at least cripple.

From there a 718 atk without lifeorb (933 atk with) behind a sub with a 120 stab attack (so 180 power) that only steel resists. But with 1024 attack I don't think you'll find something living through two hits of this, if one.

If using Earthquake use in conjunction with Magnezone to eliminate anything that resists both EQ and Outrage.

Try it out and give me some credit if no one has seen it before. Works well with TTar/Hippo.

If you're going to Outrage, why don't you use Choice Band? Sometimes the 1,5x boost is what decides the winner.

using outrage with swords dance seems dumb because you wont want to risk hitting yourself.

Choice Scarf with Outrage is pretty hot, too, looking at my recent warstory.

Just make sure to switch Garchomp out after he's done with his little tantrum, and he'll be fine.

Or if you don't use the Scarf/CB you could use a Lum/Persim Berry, but imo that's a bit situational.

Outrage sounds like a good move, but the thing that bugs me more than the fact that you're confused afterwards is the fact that you are forced to use it continuesly, even if your opponent switches into a bulky defensive steel type wall, which may proceed to Roar you (and waiste your sub).

OK...but with Swords Dance and outrage nothing can take more than one hit safely. Even a bulky steel will be 2hko'ed. Even Skarmory with Max HP Max Def takes 48 - 56% Damage from it. Also, this is why I said to use in conjunction with Magnezone for full effect.

Life orb is the way to go with this thing because it kills the defensive walls that are made to stop it if they switch in on the Outrage. If not, you should really make a feeler of the other team first. Don't just send this out right away and try to sweep. Obviously there will be counters, most of them steel. In that case, try and trap them with Magnezone. Then this thing sweeps, no question. There are only 2 pokemon that can take a hit from a swords danced outrage or EQ with Life Orb: Bronzog and Skarmory. Both of which can be taken care of nicely with Magnezone (barring beautiful skin).

So really there isn't any worry about continuing to use Outrage 3 turns in a row, nothing is going to take a hit from it anyway besides those two. I mean you can think about steelix, metagross, empoleon, but; those ones can't do anything if Gachomp is still behind a sub, and if it isn't, they still can't even ohko it outside of explosion.

IMO, I'm going to test out chomp. It outspeeds mence. In storm also, it's full potential is unlocked like said in the first post. It outspeeds mence because it's speed base stat is 102 and mence's is 100. By 2, it outspeeds. Anyway, the only real advantage I see with mene is dragon dance and intimidate.

Oh wow...I just realised something.

Hey guys, what do you think of...Swords Dance/Earthquake/Substitute/Dragon Rush (or claw) with Iron Ball as the equipped item?

I just realised that it takes out any of the steel pokemon that could possibly survive a Dragon Rush/Outrage/Claw because it takes away their flying ability and levitate.

Garchomp has been discussed every which way but it is odd that hardly anybody mentions it anymore after all that over-the-top hype it had a few months ago.

A proper discussion topic should have Serebii link, base stats, movepool etc. So let's just pretend this is a set discussion...that set isn't typical at all, but it isn't anything special either. Even proposing eaving off Earthquake is a crime to human beings imo, and the lack of Dragon Claw is hurting as well. Outrage should just be used with some kind of Choice item imo, either Choice Band or Choice Scarf.

I actually edited the title to read "Garchomp discussion" because I had hoped something more was discussed than just the single set, maybe something else proposed. So don't blame him!
