Unofficial Shoddy Battle Gym League, Now Accepting Challengers!

I'll send a PM with my team :). The battles I am most worried about (before the Elite Four that is) are MoP obviously, Dragontamer (even though I beat him with my team when we were playing for fun, does that count :P), and Discord, even though I always seem to somehow beat him even when I'm down and out (Lol Magmortar). Should be fun.

OKay. I'm not even joking here. I had a serious of counter burns and insults lined up for the previous PAGES of moronicness. Alas, I decided to take the high road and say this:

1. If you're gonna talk the talk, walk the walk. 3 times. See how well you do facing all of us with just 15 pokemon. I issue that as a challenge, not a threat or anything offensive.

2. Stop the hate. This is fun. At what point did this not be about "wow, that was a good move that just molested me into the ground" and start becoming a game of "wow, you're a (BAN ME PLEASE)... I totally just flash fired your lame attempt at a will-o-wisp then had sex with your mom three times". Seriously, people.

3. Understand that trash talking of leaders is NOT cool. You should realize we, especially those who fought hard for their spots (Loetke, you're a slacker...JK you own) actually might have put alot of time into this. YOU AS THE CHALLENGER HAVE THE ADVANTAGE knowing EXACTLY what weaknesses to exploit on EVERY SINGLE CHALLENGE. So lets just take it for what it is: Fun. Fun to win, learning AND FUN if you lose. Plain and simple.

4. Majesty owns, no matter what you say. Dark type OWNS!!! Why isn't there a dragon and dark type kicking around? Man, that sucks.

Marril: RANDOM POSTING. Beat that!!!

I agree with this

I realise that it may be some time before anyone reaches the E4, but perhaps, but perhaps there needs to be something posted about the process, e.g the creation of an appropriately tiered team , a link to the proposed tier list (assuming its been finalised), and a clear warning that whether they agree with it or not challengers are bound by it.

Finally I'd just like to say good luck to all of the gym leaders, having battled some of you, I know how hard you have worked on your teams and how difficult some of the mono-types actually are in covering their weakness.

Edit.

The battles I am most worried about (before the Elite Four that is)

lol I wouldn't be too worried about the E4, I'm a pushover.

._.;; I AM a slacker. Anyone want to challenge my Ground type gym? It's almost like getting a free win.

Well that goes without saying. I can name many a free win that one of the two of us got from facing each other ;) LOL. Ambiguity is the key here so that I don't look like the failure.

I agree with shiney oddish. Infact, I propose that when facing the elite four, the nooblets (okay, challengers, jeez!!!) should have SIX pokemon to choose from per tier. If failure, they are welcome to challenge with those same ones again but they shouldn't be able to change to a team of counters. They should have the 6, per tier, PERIOD. That might makes things a little bit more, shall we say, hard?

As if they aren't hard as it is lol. But thats fair enough, cause after all we're only gonna use our NU team once throughout the entire gym challenge for example, so it doesn't make much difference. And how can we challenge with a team of counters if we don't know what you're using :P??
By the way, people will be hard pressed to win overall as Jibaku is really good at ubers, especially me who is above average at all the tiers barring Ubers (well not really NU, who plays that?)

I don't know that limiting E4 challengers to six 'mon per tier is actually necessary, because as Mysterious_S stated building a team of counters is rather difficult when the team is not known in advance.

Theoretically a "nooblet" could watch a leaders every match and attempt to build a team of counters, but even then there is no guarantee of success. I cannot speak for the other E4 leaders but I don't have a set team as such, I use a small pool of UU pokemon from which I construct a core team of around 3-4 'mon, with the remaining 2-3 slots being filled drawn from the full tier. As such my teams can vary considerably from match to match.

OK - but if there are any changes would it be possible for you to let us know in advance? That way we'll have time to make tweaks, run some tests etc.

But my team is a set team. I don't really vary from Pokémon to Pokémon. So I think it's best if our team is not revealed to public.

i would like to start on the beta region and i'd like to challenge the grass gym. i'll PM my 15 to you marrilpet. k?

Alright, sounds good.

Akatsuki, I can only assume you were responding to me. I meant the challengers need to send me their pool of 15, not the gym leaders.

How many times can challengers challenge? Any re-tries?
Once per 24 hour period. If you feel they are just trying to scout your team however, they will be banned from challenging anyone for a week.

Are there only a certain number of challenger spots?
Nope, there are unlimited slots. This thing will run until Competitor comes out, then we'll pack up and move there.

Had a thought whilst battling earlier - clauses - are we going to have a standard set, are they determined by the challenger, or by the gym leader?

We'll go by the gym leader. If you don't care to face an all choice banded/scarfed/specsed team, then that's fine. If you want to ban hax items, also fine.

I would like to propose this; the first person to beat the E4 can have any breed-able Pokemon of their choosing. I will breed it with any egg moves, Hidden Power, ability, specific IVs (don't get stupid about it), whatever. I just want to give people some incentive. I was going to say I would do it for anyone who beat them, but that would really suck if we had 5+ people do it per week, so for now, it's just the first person. If you want to see what I'm capable of breeding, check the thread in my sig. lol @ shameless plug.

Edit: I do my breeding on Diamond, so please don't ask for Emerald move tutor moves. I do have Emerald, but my Dittos aren't nearly as good there.

Oh yeah, I just learned about those when I went on Shoddy a few minutes ago, I hadn't been on since that update. I say enact Sleep and Freeze Clauses, leave the others alone.

Loetke, I say that's a great idea.

BTW, anyone else's Shoddy being shoddy? It won't let me load it at all.

So we're allowing evasion moves and OHKO's?
