Item diversity in NU lately has increased a lot. All kinds of items are used on different Pokemon. For example, Garbodor used to only use Leftovers; now, it uses Black Sludge, Air Balloon, Rocky Helmet, and Focus Sash often. Type resisting berries and type plates have all started to become more popular as well. Lots of people are starting to use Colbur Berry Stealth Rock Golurk as an example. I've also heard of people using stuff such as Yache Berry Cacturne for certain random Hidden Power Ice.

Share some unusual items you've been using on standard sets. Note: it has to be effective and have noticeable utility on said set. If it is not, it should probably be posted here instead.

Samurott @ Mystic Water
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Megahorn
- Swords Dance
- Waterfall

Mystic Water Samurott can hit hard with Waterfall and Aqua Jet while still being much more durable than the Life Orb set. This is extremely beneifical when Samurott is in Torrent range since it stops the opponent from switching around with resistances and stalling Samurott out. Megahorn doesn't really need a boost since it usually either OHKO's the opponent or falls short anyways.

Mismagius @ Kasib Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hex
- Pain Split
- Taunt
- Will-O-Wisp

colbur berry is for nerds. Kasib Berry allows you to easily survive a Shadow Ball from opposing Mismagius and Rotom, and hit them back with a hex. I also used it on Max SpA missy which is neat too. Its pretty gimmicky but a lot of people rely on ghosts to revenge other ghosts

Garbodor @ Lum Berry
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 24 HP / 252 Atk / 96 Def / 136 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Gunk Shot
- Drain Punch
- Spikes
- Rock Blast

I thought of this cool Garb set when i was getting really annoyed of sash lead viv and jynx. The ev spread is to live a jynx psyshock 100% of the time and kill with rock blast (as long as you get 3 hits).

252 Atk Garbodor Rock Blast (3 hits) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Jynx: 300-354 (110.7 - 130.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Jynx Psyshock vs. 24 HP / 96 Def Garbodor: 254-300 (82.7 - 97.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Mawile @ Custap Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Baton Pass
- Endure
- Stealth Rock
- Swords Dance

Fun sd passer that can pass more effectively than the standard lefties set.

Carracosta @ Chople Berry
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Shell Smash
- Stone Edge
- Zen Headbutt
- Hydro Pump

Carracosta is actually somewhat viable again now that Sceptile is gone, so here's a set. Chople Berry + Solid Rock means this thing can actually set up in front of some Fighting-types and OHKO them after a boost with Zen Headbutt (which also hits Vileplume I guess?), clearing the way for things that absolutely need Fighting-types removed, like Nasty Plot Liepard. It also lets you take random Superpowers and Close Combats from other threats like Kabutops and Zangoose. I wouldn't advise setting up on Hitmonchan but it definitely can't revenge kill you effectively. You should also just go straight for Zen Headbutt if it's Scarf Primeape as it outspeeds you at +2 anyways.

252+ Atk Hariyama Close Combat vs. -1 0 HP / 0 Def Chople Berry Solid Rock Carracosta: 178-211 (61.5 - 73%)
252+ Atk Hariyama Bullet Punch vs. -1 0 HP / 0 Def Carracosta: 54-64 (18.6 - 22.1%)
252+ Atk Life Orb Iron Fist Hitmonchan Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Chople Berry Solid Rock Carracosta: 106-126 (36.6 - 43.5%)
252+ Atk Life Orb Iron Fist Hitmonchan Mach Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Chople Berry Solid Rock Carracosta: 57-68 (19.7 - 23.5%)
252 Atk Choice Band Primeape Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Chople Berry Solid Rock Carracosta: 148-175 (51.2 - 60.5%)

+2 252 Atk Carracosta Zen Headbutt vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Hariyama: 460-542 (107.2 - 126.3%)
+2 252 Atk Carracosta Zen Headbutt vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hitmonchan: 374-440 (155.1 - 182.5%)
252 Atk Carracosta Zen Headbutt vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Primeape: 230-272 (84.8 - 100.3%)

Liepard @ Lum Berry
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Pursuit
- Knock Off
- Encore
- U-turn

Pretty cool and fast pursuit trapper, ive been testing some cores on ladder and I found Lum berry to be useful for me since it makes its trapping job easier. It also worked many times vs smeargle leads that try putting it to sleep and i can just pursuit it next turn.

Rotom @ Ring Target
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Hex
- Will-O-Wisp
- Trick

The idea is to lure in things like Camerupt or Skuntank (and other things I can't remember rn) and remove their Electric or Psychic immunity, greatly helping their teammates to sweep. Also theoretically better now that we got Gastrodon even though WoW + Hex is doing a lot already anyway.
