These initial stats are from November 19th through 30th. The first day and a bit of Gen 9 on the sim were fairly buggy so I didn't count them for the purposes of any new "alpha" tiers. They will appear in the full month's stats though, so don't be surprised that these numbers are different when they appear in smogon.com/stats in a few days as November 1st through 18th will be processed together with them. In the meantime, I will post a zip of the stats from November 19th through 30th in the Gen 9 stats discussion thread (here) when it's done processing the 0/1500/1760 files later today.

Okay, so is this the first gen ever where all the starters are OU by usage? I imagine at least Skeledirge and Quaquaval will fall off but still.

Also for Orthworm, its mainly only cause of the allure of a slower, and thus 'safer' Shed Tail. At least in theory, less so in practice. And Ditto is popular when metas are first starting out and its more offensive. It'll likely fall off when things stabilize.

I actually think the opposite, at leaat for Skeledirge. Mon provides a lot for bulkier teams and is quite solid at the job it does.

I'm laughing but also poor natdex UU xD

On another note, Iron Hands being UU in both SV and Natdex is honestly criminal given how solid it is even in the more offensive metagame rn.
 
All three Paldea starters in OU is a first for a new starter trio.

Granted it's in part new hype but all three starters making it is really cool.

All three seem to have a unique niche going for them and are good at it thanks to all of them having great type combos, hidden abilities, stat spreads, and movepools. Meowscarada gets Protean, is fast as fuck, and has a lot of coverage, Skeledirge is tanky, has Unaware, and recovery and a good offensive movepool, and Quaquaval has Moxie, a signature move that boosts its Speed, and an offensive movepool that makes it a snowball sweeper. Quaquaval may get even better with Palafin gone.

This is the best designed starter trio collectively from a competitive standpoint. Galar was so close but then fell short with Inteleon. Paldea? All three got it good. This is a first.
