SPECIFIC RULES
  • This is a standard USUM Doubles OU tournament
  • This tournament will be Double Elimination
  • Rounds will be Best of Three. You may switch teams in between battles of the same set.
  • Matches are to be played on Pokemon Showdown!
  • To encourage the development of the metagame, and so that everyone is on an even playing field, all matches must have replays recorded. If neither player posts replays of the match, both players will suffer an automatic game loss. (If you were in losers' when you played, you are both out. If you were in winners', the winner is in losers' and the loser is out.)
  • If you are found signing up under more than one alt, you will be banned from circuit events for life.
  • Activity calls will be made by me, potentially with neutral assistance from a TD. Coin flips will be done on PS!
  • In the event that something is added to or removed from the Doubles OU metagame in the middle of a round, that change will be in effect starting the next round. Doubles Ubers is available as a challenge option if something is banned mid-round.

Edit: And here's predictions because why not and I went 5/7 last time
SMB vs talkingtree - not predicting my own match went well last time
Mint16 vs EmbCPT - really tough one, I think this is my highlight of the week. Edu brings teams that are very different from my own style but executes them incredibly well, so it's always exciting for me to watch him. On the other hand, Mint16 has continued a fantastic streak with a solid win over TCO and t16 finish at NAIC. Should be an exciting series

Demantoid vs AuraRayquaza - going with the more adaptable builder here, Demantoid showed how well he can prep with that fire Deo-S/Mega Lucario/Primarina team and while AuraRayquaza is a solid player, he typically resorts to either taking teams or playing it safe with his standards.
The Cheesen One vs MajorBowman - MajorBowman is adaptable, proficient, and highly skilled. The only thing that could stop him is his tendency to be streaky, but if his current streak continues with a t16 finish at Internats and an incredibly solid last round, I don't seem him losing here.

SMB vs talkingtree - A really tough matchup to call. Tree is an incredible builder and I'm always excited to see what he brings, and hes had an unbelievable run so far. I just cant see SMB losing because hes such a strong player and has solid teams to boot. I expect tree to take at least one game tho.
Mint16 vs EmbCPT - Another great match and really hard to pick one. I'm gonna say mint because the dudes been on a frankly ridiculous run of form recently in DOU and VGC. He also beat edu in DLT which shows he can do it. However, we all know how good edu is and you wouldnt be surprised to see the set go completely the other way.

Demantoid vs AuraRayquaza - Scheduled for saturday 8pm gmt+1
The Cheesen One vs MajorBowman - Bowman is just a top top player and I dont see him losing here. I expect Cheesen One will give him good games but I really cant see this going the other way.
