Okay! After totally not forgetting the existence of this project for two weeks straight, we're now back! Magmortar is a mon I still think is a bit underrated, and should definitely be used more overall, so I wanted to make this round about that. Deadline is (11 / 16 / 18)
Have fun !
Relatively standard Z-Focus Blast Magmortar bulky offense. The majority of AV Slowbro answers such as Incineroar, and to a lesser extent, Choice-locked Eggy-Alola and Heliolisk, can be exploited by Magmortar, making it a comfortable partner. Steelix rounds out the BroLix duo, and Xatu outright denies hazards from rockers such as Lix/Seis/Tort and forces Diance and Rhydon to play aggressively. Heliolisk takes advantage of passive Water-types such as Vaporeon and Blastoise which the team would otherwise struggle to break, and Passimian is simply a splashable scarfer and a solid Incineroar check.
A bulky offense built around Magmortar, with Fightinium Z and Taunt to break defensive teams, Timid nature to outspeed some mons like non scarf Passimian, Medicham and Decidueye, that Modest doesn't outspeed. Rhydon for set rocks and check threats like Braviary and Incineroar, also to punish Xatu if try to bounce rocks and pressure even more defensive teams. Rotom works as Defogger, pressuring some sr setter and checking Ground and Fighting types, AV Slowbro because this set is so good at the moment, checking a lot of things and hitting hard as well, Zap Cannon to lure and paralyze Vaporeon for Magmortar. Passimian is the best scarfer in the tier, being a secondary Incineroar check and speed control. Whimsicott Specs works as a Dragon immunity, besides that makes a Volt-Turn Core and a Fire-Water-Grass Core.
Basic team idea was building with Fightium Mortar,so I decided to put some way of pivoting in passimian and Helio, which are incredible hard hit pivots,so I decided to go to Vileplume after as It is a good check to a plethora of mons and could fit really well in the team, right after I decided to go on Tect Seismitoad which is pretty helpful in scouting choice locked mons while providing rocks+ toxic +water check in the same slot, for last slot I decided to go Silvally as It could just defog to help magmortar, check fairies and provide momentum for a partner as well
:)
Built around Specs Mag + LO Comfey because Mag straight up cooks everything except some resists (2hkoes offensive inc) which it can hit with coverage. Comfey excels when specially defensive stuff goes and gives offense a hard time. HP Ice cause Torterra/Bat can be pretty annoying. Next is Xatu cause momentum + keeps rocks off so you can just click moves with Mag. Toge + Drudd finish of the Fairy/Dragon/Steel core (fuck mainstream FWG) with a reliable rocks setter and ice resist + momentum. Last is Gurdurr which couldve been something else that handles Inc, but Gurdurr rly invites in stuff for Mag to cook and has good priority so you dont have to run a scarfer. Built this the first round of No Johns and its still undefeated (if youre getting smashed you can cheese through with well timed paras)
