XY UU UU Balance Team

Hi! I'm Mamp, and I recently got back into UU after a lengthy hiatus from the tier (I stopped playing after the Zygarde ban). I built this team, and it's been fairly successful on the ladder, but I feel like it could use some improvements. So without further ado, onto the team!

Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature

- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Calm Mind

I built the team around CroCune, which is one of my favourite sets to use and a very powerful Pokemon in UU. Suicune is an excellent late-game sweeper, and it can tear unprepared teams to shreds. It has excellent bulk and a great defensive typing, allowing it to set up on most defensive Pokemon, such as Mega Aggron, Forretress, Donphan, Porygon2, Umbreon, etc. It is also a very good check to a variety of powerful attackers, like Infernape, Krookodile, Mega Blastoise, Nidoking/queen, Mega Houndoom, Mega Aerodactyl, etc. Suicune also serves as a nice switch-in to the Ice-type attacks often aimed at Ampharos and Nidoqueen.

- Volt Switch

- Sleep Talk
My Mega Pokemon is Ampharos. I am running a physically defensive set with RestTalk to serve as a check to a variety of dangerous mons, including Infernape, Honchkrow, Victini, and Suicune. The main draw of Ampharos is the slow Volt Switch, giving me safe switch-ins to Mienshao, Nidoqueen, and Sableye, which have trouble switching into attacks. It forms a very potent Voltturn core with Mienshao.

blissey.gif

Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Heal Bell
- Seismic Toss

Blissey is on the team mainly to provide Heal Bell support for the two Rest users on the team, as well as to help keep the team healthy with Wish. Blissey also counters most special attackers. Blissey is very useful, but I find it's a huge momentum killer; it just doesn't have enough offensive presence and it gives free switches to mons like Mienshao and Lucario, which is a very bad thing. I'd like to find a mon that can perform Blissey's role but doesn't give up so much momentum, but I haven't found anything yet.

Mienshao @ Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- U-turn
- Knock Off
- Poison Jab
Mienshao is on the team to break down walls, especially Umbreon and Blissey which would wall the whole team otherwise. It also serves as a check to Hydreigon, which causes this team a lot of trouble. It also forms a nice Voltturn core with Ampharos. I'm running Poison Jab to lure in fairies, but it doesn't come in handy very often, and I'm considering replacing it with Stone Edge.

nidoqueen.gif

Nidoqueen (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Sludge Wave
- Earth Power
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Beam
I added Nidoqueen to the team because I needed a switch-in to the likes of Florges and Aromatisse, and an SR setter. It also serves as a check to Toxicroak, one of the top Suicune counters in the tier. I'm not sure what to run in the last slot; I basically never use Ice Beam, but I don't know what to replace it with.

sableye.gif

Sableye @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt
- Recover
- Night Shade
Sableye is on the team as a check to a wide variety of physical attackers, particularly fighting-types like Mienshao and Lucario. It also helps me to beat stall teams, and to deal with stallbreakers like Mew. Tbh, I feel like Sableye has a lot of the same issues that Blissey does; not enough offensive presence, sacrifices momentum to powerful special attackers and fire-types. I tried replacing it with stallbreaker Mew, but Mew didn't really synergise that well with the rest of the team, and the lack of Prankster made it much less effective as a check to Luc and Shao.

This team has a serious weakness to Hydreigon, the mixed Life Orb set in particular. Generally I have to play around it by switching Blissey into Draco Meteor, and then switching Sableye into Superpower, but that is obviously unreliable. The team also struggles against stallbreakers like Sableye and Mew, and powerful fighting-types like Lucario and Mienshao. Mega Houndoom also really threatens this team once Blissey is weakened. I feel like the team would do well with a scarfer, but I can't work out what to cut for one. Also, the team struggles against spike-stacking teams, due to its lack of a a hazard remover. If anyone could help me patch up these issues, that would be greatly appreciated :)

You could always swap blissey for florges. use wish protect moonblast aromatherapy to provide the same utility rolls and doesnt give free switches to the mons you listed. also serves as a really good hydreigon counter, you say meinshao is your current check but scarfed hydreigon is pretty common and if it carries superpower it can do work to your team if predicts right. the problem with using florges that I can see is that a nidoking would basically just get kills if it ever comes in for free.

You are very weak to Crocune as it will decimate ur team after setting up on Blissey (or maybe even your suicune with some luck regarding burns) and with some smart play stall out your suicune in a pressure stalemate. Also if u run into an SD Lucario with earthquake, close combat and bullet punch, your in just as much trouble due to blissey being set up bait.

A offensive spiker (or if u pefer more momentum based offense a specs Roserade) for either Blissey or nidoqueen can handle suicune well barring the fact its set up already, and can either scare out lucario with moonblast or force lucario to use extremespeed which sableye can switch in on and burn what comes in. Roserade can also use extrasensory to blast toxicroak should u replace the nidoqueen
