UU, In Slow Motion (Warstory)

I've been playing a lot of UU lately. It's a fun metagame where you can cool pokemon who have a hard time competing in OU, such Arbok, Drifblim and Venomoth. And there's NO GODDAMN BLISSEY.

Well, I logged on to Shoddy today, ready to test out a new UU team based on slowing the opponent down with paralysis. There were two other guys in the UU section, one of which was Boingo. I challenged him, he accepted, battle was begun.

Wizard's Team:

dpmfa045.png
dpmfa078.png
dpmfa357.png
dpffa478.png

My pokemon are in Red. Boingo's are Blue. Attacks are in Purple. Status ailments are Green. Leftovers recovery and nicknames are ignored after the first turn it happens. Yeah, it's not an original setup. Deal with it.

NEW CHALLENGER:

Rules: Evasion Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Sleep Clause, Species Clause, Timed Battle
Boingo sent out Ampharos (lvl 100 Ampharos ?).
Viashino_wizard sent out For I Am Little Buttercup (lvl 100 Butterfree ?).
For I Am Little Buttercup used Sleep Powder.
Ampharos fell asleep!
Ampharos is fast asleep!

Things get rolling as we both send out our starters. Mine is For I Am Little Buttercup, a double-powder Butterfree while Boingo opts for an Ampharos (another one of those "cool non-OU" pokemon). The faster Buttercup does a passable imitation of the sand man and sends Ampharos to dream-land.

NEW CHALLENGER:
dpmfa411.png

Boingo switched in Bastiodon (lvl 100 Bastiodon ?).
Butterfree used Stun Spore.
Bastiodon is paralysed! It may be unable to move!

I successfully predict a switch and Buttercup gets a second pokemon to shoot some powder, in this case a Bastiodon which has now learned the hard way to not do drugs.

NEW CHALLENGER:
dpmfa097.png

Butterfree used U-turn.
It's not very effective...
Bastiodon lost 4% of its health.
Viashino_wizard switched in Slow Moe (lvl 100 Hypno ?).
Bastiodon used Stone Edge.
A critical hit!
Slow Moe lost 48% of its health.
Slow Moe's leftovers restored its health a little!
Slow Moe restored 6% of its health.
Bastiodon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Bastiodon restored 6% of its health.

His jump done, Buttercup gets the hell outta there with U-Turn. Fearing a special-attacking Bastiodon for some reason, I switch in my Hypno, Slow Moe. Bastiodon chucks some big rocks at him, but even with a critical hit (probably caused by coac-rage), it fails to take away more even half of Moe's HP.

Hypno used Wish.
Hypno made a wish!
Bastiodon used Metal Burst.
But it failed!

Now, Moe is a supporter and Wish-passer, so I'm not too comfortable with leaving him at that little HP (Yeah, I think 68% is little). He uses his awesome team-healing move while Boingo, expecting an attack, makes a crucial miscalculation and uses Metal Burst, tipping me off to Bastiodon's moveset.

So anyhow, nothing happens this turn except some lefty healing.

Hypno used Reflect.
A barrier was formed!
Bastiodon used Curse.
Bastiodon's speed was lowered.
Bastiodon's attack was raised.
Bastiodon's defence was raised.
The wish came true!
Hypno restored 50% of its health.

We both use the next turn to set up. Moe takes a leaf out of Mr. Mime's book and throws up an invisible wall while Bastiodon gorges itself on power shakes to beef up. Moe's wish kicks in, restoring him to full health.

Hypno used Seismic Toss.
Bastiodon lost 31% of its health.
Bastiodon used Curse.
Bastiodon's speed was lowered.
Bastiodon's attack was raised.
Bastiodon's defence was raised.

Probably expecting my hypnotist to switch out after setting up, Bastiodon uses another curse and eats a suplex instead.
Hypno used Wish.
Hypno made a wish!
Bastiodon used Metal Burst.
But it failed!

Moe packs up his things and gets ready to leave, but not before leaving a present for his switch-in. Meanwhile, Bastiodon (who's had quite a bit of luck regarding full paralysis) tries to punish another Seismic Toss. And fails.

NEW CHALLENGER:

Viashino_wizard switched in Daikaiju (lvl 100 Blastoise ?).
Bastiodon used Metal Burst.
But it failed!
The wish came true!
Daikaiju restored 50% of its health.

Moe takes his leave and gets replaced by a giant pink city-destroying monster terrapin. Bastiodon tries Metal Burst again, which of course does nothing. It turns out we'd both wasted that last turn, but better safe than sorry, I guess.

NEW CHALLENGER:
dpmfa045.png

Boingo switched in Vileplume (lvl 100 Vileplume ?).
Blastoise used Roar.
Boingo switched in Ampharos (lvl 100 Ampharos ?).

Evidently tired of running-down Metal Burst's PP with no results, Boingo sends out Vileplume, which is quickly send running by a Roar from Daikaiju (which means "big monster" in Japanese, if you were wondering), my rapid-spinner/phaser. He's replaced by Ampharos, who is still drugged out of its skull courtesy of Sleep Powder.

NEW CHALLENGER:
dpmfa154.png

Viashino_wizard switched in Phoawr (lvl 100 Meganium ?).
Ampharos is fast asleep!
Phoawr's reflect wore off!

Worried about a potential wake-up and electric attack, I send in Phoawr, my Meganium. Moe's invisible wall, possibly upset that no one's been using any physical attacks on it, crumbles away and goes to Temporary Battle Effect Heaven.

Meganium used Leech Seed.
Ampharos was seeded!
Ampharos is fast asleep!
Ampharos's health was sapped by leech seed!
Ampharos lost 12% of its health.
Meganium regained health!
Meganium restored 12% of its health.

Ampharos is still out cold, so Phoawr takes the time to do some gardening. The electric sheep is now sporting a lovely ensemble of parasitic blossoms that are slowly but surely draining its life force.

Boingo switched in Vileplume (lvl 100 Vileplume ?).
Meganium used Energy Ball.
It's not very effective...
Vileplume lost 6% of its health.
Vileplume's leftovers restored its health a little!
Vileplume restored 6% of its health.

Ampharos beats a hasty retreat while Vileplume makes a triumphant return. My flowery dino fires an Energy Ball that does jack-nothing.

Meganium used Hidden Power.
It's super effective!
Vileplume lost 28% of its health.
Vileplume used Aromatherapy.

Phoawr fires of a HP (Ice), which does a lot less than I had hoped for. Meanwhile, Vileplume shoves a smelly concoction up Bastiodon and Ampharos' noses to snap 'em out of it.

Viashino_wizard switched in For I Am Little Buttercup (lvl 100 Butterfree ?).
Vileplume used Toxic.
Butterfree was badly poisoned!
Butterfree is hurt by poison!
Butterfree lost 6% of its health.

Well, there goes all my hard work statusing his team. I decided to switch out Buttercup to deal with Vileplume and he takes a toxic to the face.

NEW CHALLENGER:
dpmfa078.png

Boingo switched in Rapidash (lvl 100 Rapidash ?).
Butterfree used Sleep Powder.
Rapidash fell asleep!
Butterfree's leftovers restored its health a little!
Butterfree restored 6% of its health.
Butterfree is hurt by poison!
Butterfree lost 12% of its health.

Apparently, Vileplume doesn't have anything to deal with my extremely masculine butterfly, so he switches to Rapidash instead. Fortunately for me, it gets switched right into a Sleep Powder. Buttercup congratulates himself on a job well done before coughing up blood.

Rapidash is fast asleep!
Butterfree used U-turn.
It's not very effective...
Rapidash lost 11% of its health.
Viashino_wizard switched in Daikaiju (lvl 100 Blastoise ?).

I'm not sure whether my opponent's going to switch or not, so Buttercup U-Turns out to Daikaiju while Rapidash dreams about horsey stuff.

Boingo switched in Vileplume (lvl 100 Vileplume ?).
Blastoise used Roar.
Boingo switched in Bastiodon (lvl 100 Bastiodon ?).

I know he isn't leaving a sleeping Rapidash in against Blastoise, but I'm not sure what he'll switch to. I decide to Roar out his counter and potentially get a better look at his team.

Vileplume steps up to the plate again, and for the second time is driven away screaming like a little girl to be replaced by a teammate. This time, it's Bastiodon who's now free of Paralysis thanks to Aromatherapy.

Blastoise used Ice Beam.
It's not very effective...
Bastiodon lost 6% of its health.
Bastiodon used Metal Burst.
Blastoise lost 12% of its health.
Blastoise's leftovers restored its health a little!
Blastoise restored 6% of its health.

I know I'll need to kill off Vileplume, since my team depends on the opponent's fast threats being slowed down by paralysis. Predicting a switch, Daikaiju fires off an Ice Beam. Bastiodon, however, stays in to Metal Burst and potentially KO my pink reptile. Fortunately, the damage I deal is meager and so is his counterattack's.

NEW CHALLENGER:
dpmfa357.png

Bastiodon
used Curse.
Bastiodon's speed was lowered.
Bastiodon's attack was raised.
Bastiodon's defence was raised.
Blastoise used Roar.
Boingo switched in Tropius (lvl 100 Tropius ?).

Unsure of what he's going to do and with the knowledge the Bastiodon isn't doing much to my Blastoise, I decide to Roar again. This turns out to be a good idea, and I meet another member of his team: Tropius.

Tropius used Leaf Blade.
It's super effective!
Blastoise lost 43% of its health.
Blastoise used Ice Beam.
It's super effective!
Tropius lost 96% of its health.
Tropius's leftovers restored its health a little!
Tropius restored 6% of its health.

Daikaiju is pretty bulky, so I'm confident she can take a hit and deal massive damage with Ice Beam. I'm quite correct, as it happens.

NEW CHALLENGER:
dpffa478.png

Boingo switched in Froslass (lvl 100 Froslass ?).
Viashino_wizard switched in Phoawr (lvl 100 Meganium ?).

My tortoise can't really afford to take another blow like that, so it's back to Phoawr the Meganium. Boingo also gets his poke out of hock, switching the last member of his team, a Froslass. He's obviously in the superior position at this point.

Viashino_wizard switched in Slow Moe (lvl 100 Hypno ?).
Froslass used Ice Beam.
A critical hit!
Slow Moe lost 50% of its health.

Anything that vaguely flirtatious ghost does is going to knock the snot out of my leafy reptile, so I switch to my special wall. Unfortunately, he takes a critical hit from Ice Beam.

Boingo switched in Bastiodon (lvl 100 Bastiodon ?).
Hypno used Thunder Wave.
Bastiodon is paralysed! It may be unable to move!

I was confident Moe could survive another attack, so I tried paralyzing Boingo's Froslass. However, perhaps predicting just that, the little bugger splits, leaving her funky-faced compadre to get his nerve endings fried.
Hypno used Wish.
Hypno made a wish!
Bastiodon used Iron Head.
Hypno lost 19% of its health.

There's pretty little Bastiodon can do if Hypno doesn't attack, so Moe takes the opportunity to patch himself up a little. Looking back on it, I'm not quite sure why he used Iron Head instead of Stone Edge- possibly he wanted to save its PP for when my Blastoise rolled around again.

Boingo switched in Vileplume (lvl 100 Vileplume ?).
Hypno used Reflect.
A barrier was formed!
The wish came true!
Hypno restored 50% of its health.

Ugh, Vileplume's back again. Mr. Slow gets another invisible wall up again (he trained for three months with Koga to learn how to do that, by the way). My Hypno's wishful thinking pays off, and he's back to near-full health.

Hypno used Seismic Toss.
Vileplume lost 31% of its health.
Vileplume used Aromatherapy.

Knowing an aromatherapy was coming, I decide to try and do some damage. Meanwhile, Vileplume works its aromatic magic once again.

Hypno used Thunder Wave.
Vileplume is paralysed! It may be unable to move!
Vileplume used Toxic.
Vileplume's attack missed!

Moe paralyzes what I've come to refer to as That Really Annoying Flower. Said Really Annoying Flower tries to poison him back, but misses.

Hypno used Seismic Toss.
Vileplume lost 31% of its health.
Vileplume is paralysed! It can't move!

Now I need to kill it before it can do more damage. Luck is on my side, and paralysis kicks in.

Hypno used Seismic Toss.
Vileplume lost 31% of its health.
Vileplume used Moonlight.
Vileplume restored 50% of its health.

Moe continues his efforts to kill Vileplume, but it has other ideas. With leftovers and that healing move, the last two turns are pretty much null.

Hypno
used Seismic Toss.
Vileplume lost 31% of its health.
Vileplume used Aromatherapy.
Hypno's reflect wore off!

Moe breaks out another wrestling move while Vileplume Aromatherapys away its paralysis.

Hypno used Thunder Wave.
Vileplume is paralysed! It may be unable to move!
Vileplume used Toxic.
Hypno was badly poisoned!
Hypno is hurt by poison!
Hypno lost 6% of its health.

I quickly rectify this with another Thunder Wave. Vileplume takes another shot at slipping my Hypno the mickey, and this time it succeeds.

Viashino_wizard switched in Phoawr (lvl 100 Meganium ?).
Vileplume used Aromatherapy.

By now I'm pretty sure that Moe can't beat Vileplume on his own, so I send in Phoawr to hit it with a super-effective Ice attack.

Boingo switched in Froslass (lvl 100 Froslass ?).
Phoawr used Hidden Power.
It's not very effective...
Froslass lost 13% of its health.

...which is promptly absorbed by the Ice Princess. Nrrg.

Froslass used Shadow Ball.
Phoawr lost 31% of its health.
Phoawr used Aromatherapy.

I decide to stay in and Aromatherapy. Boingo, predicting a switch to Hypno, uses Shadow ball, which does a fair amount to my poor Meganium.

Viashino_wizard switched in Slow Moe (lvl 100 Hypno ?).
Froslass used Shadow Ball.
It's super effective!
Slow Moe lost 39% of its health.

Assuming he'd use an Ice attack now, I switch out to Moe. He out-predicts me, though, and uses another Shadow Ball. Fortunately, it turns out that Moe has more than enough special defense to shrug it off.

Froslass used Thunder Wave.
Hypno is paralysed! It may be unable to move!
Hypno used Thunder Wave.
Froslass is paralysed! It may be unable to move!

The two exchange Thunder Waves, and Moe gets a little lefties recovery.

NEW (
AWESOME) CHALLENGER:

Viashino_wizard switched in Turbo Daisy (lvl 100 Dunsparce ?).
Froslass is paralysed! It can't move!

Dunsparce! Froslass is immune to Slow Moe's sole offensive move, so I switch in Turbo Daisy, my Para-Flinching Dunsparce. The Shadow Ball I expected her to absorb didn't happen, but that hardly matters.

Boingo switched in Ampharos (lvl 100 Ampharos ?).
Dunsparce used Rock Slide.
Ampharos lost 19% of its health.
Ampharos's leftovers restored its health a little!
Ampharos restored 6% of its health.

I almost used Bite, but I remembered that Rock Slide was also super-effective and had a higher BP. Boingo wisely decides to get his fragile prostitute away from the Flinch-hax that is Dunsparce and sends Ampharos back into the fray.

Ampharos used Power Gem.
Dunsparce lost 21% of its health.
Dunsparce used Body Slam.
Ampharos lost 33% of its health.
Ampharos is paralysed! It may be unable to move!
Ampharos's Static paralysed Dunsparce!
Dunsparce's leftovers restored its health a little!
Dunsparce restored 6% of its health.

The One Who Not Have Wool fires off a less-than-devastating Power Gem while Turbo Daisy paralyzes it with Body Slam. However, she gets a brain-scrambling static shock in return, courtesy of Ampharos' ability.

Viashino_wizard switched in Phoawr (lvl 100 Meganium ?).
Ampharos used Counter.
But it failed!

Dunsparce can't really take advantage of ParaFlinch if it's also paralyzed, so Phoawr comes out to Aromatherapy it away. For the second, Boingo uses a counter-attack when I switch. It won't help him against the special-based Meganium.

Meganium used Aromatherapy.
Ampharos used Fire Punch.
It's super effective!
Meganium lost 25% of its health.

Even though Fire Punch super-effective, Ampharos' less-than-stellar attack and Phoawr's defensive EV's conspire to shrug off the damage. Aromatherapy is used for the umpteenth time.

Boingo switched in Vileplume (lvl 100 Vileplume ?).
Meganium used Leech Seed.

Boingo successfully predicts my Leech Seed and Vileplume gets in Scott-free. Crap.

Maganium used Hidden Power.
It's super effective!
Vileplume lost 26% of its health.
Vileplume used Aromatherapy.

And there's Aromatherapy again. Seriously, I think that was the most-used move of this match.

Meganium used Leech Seed.
Vileplume used Toxic.
Meganium was badly poisoned!
Meganium's leftovers restored its health a little!
Meganium restored 6% of its health.
Meganium is hurt by poison!
Meganium lost 6% of its health.

Thinking the 'Plume would switch out, I tried Seeding the switch in. Instead, I let the thrice-damned thing get a free Toxic in. FUCKING VILOPLUMES!!

Meganium used Aromatherapy.
Vileplume used Moonlight.
Vileplume restored 50% of its health.

Phoawr ain't a big fan of the poison, let me tell you. Aromatherapy is used AGAIN while Vileplume heals itself big time.

Meganium used Hidden Power.
It's super effective!
Vileplume lost 28% of its health.
Vileplume used Toxic.
Meganium was badly poisoned!

I go on the offensive again and get poisoned for my troubles. I didn't even bother showing the poison damage since the lefties just canceled it out.

Boingo switched in Rapidash (lvl 100 Rapidash ?).
Meganium used Hidden Power.
It's not very effective...
Rapidash lost 12% of its health.
Meganium's leftovers restored its health a little!
Meganium restored 6% of its health.
Meganium is hurt by poison!
Meganium lost 12% of its health.

Bleh, Rapidash is back, and this time there was no sleep move for it to switch into. Phoawr isn't staying much longer.

Viashino_wizard switched in Daikaiju (lvl 100 Blastoise ?).
Rapidash used Megahorn.
Daikaiju lost 24% of its health.

Wary of a switch, Rapidash attacks horn-first. A good idea, since Blastoise was the one coming in.

Rapidash used Hypnosis.
Blastoise fell asleep!
Blastoise is fast asleep!

Damn you hell, Rapidash. And not the hot one either; that really cold hell from Neverwinter Nights. I haven't seen many Rapidashes, so I didn't know they could carry Hypnosis. This could be problematic.

Rapidash used Megahorn.
Blastoise lost 23% of its health.
Blastoise is fast asleep!

I decide to hope I can wake up and Surf Seabiscuit before it murders me with that deceptively-small horn. No luck this turn.

Rapidash used Megahorn.
Blastoise lost 23% of its health.
Blastoise woke up!
Blastoise used Surf.
It's super effective!
Rapidash lost 140% of its health.
Boingo's Rapidash fainted.

6-5 Me

Despite all the stuff that's been going on, this was the first time any of our pokemon actually fainted. Fortunately, my darling Daikaiju woke up just in time to kill Rapidash, but her health is dangerously low.

Boingo switched in Froslass (lvl 100 Froslass ?).
Viashino_wizard switched in Turbo Daisy (lvl 100 Dunsparce ?).
Froslass used Shadow Ball.
It doesn't affect Turbo Daisy...

Daikaiju wouldn't be able to take anything that Froslass dished out, so she pulls a runner. Boingo's fear of a Hypno switch lets Daisy get in unmolested.

Froslass used Thunderbolt.
Dunsparce lost 31% of its health.
Dunsparce used Rock Slide.
It's super effective!
Froslass lost 63% of its health.

Daisy can't paralyze Froslass with Body Slam, so I go straight to the attacks. Her 72 SpDef EV's come in handy, letting my yellow snake-thingy take a Thunderbolt and chuck a some rocks at the foe.

Boingo switched in Bastiodon (lvl 100 Bastiodon ?).
Dunsparce used Bite.
It's not very effective...
Bastiodon lost 5% of its health.

Dunsparce has enough HP left to survive another attack, so Boingo switches to Bastiodon once more.

Dunsparce
used Body Slam.
It's not very effective...
Bastiodon lost 5% of its health.
Bastiodon is paralysed! It may be unable to move!
Bastiodon used Curse.
Bastiodon's speed was lowered.
Bastiodon's attack was raised.
Bastiodon's defence was raised.

Turbo Daisy can't do anything to hut the shield-faced fossil, but she can still paralyze it. Expecting a switch, Bastiodon Curses up.

Viashino_wizard switched in Slow Moe (lvl 100 Hypno ?).
Bastiodon used Curse.
Bastiodon's speed was lowered.
Bastiodon's attack was raised.
Bastiodon's defence was raised.

My Dunsparce has done all she can for the moment, so Moe steps in. Bastiodon continues to Curse like a sailor who just stubbed his toe.

Hypno used Wish.
Hypno made a wish!
Bastiodon used Iron Head.
Hypno lost 40% of its health.

Since most of my team is in bad shape, I get ready to pass a wish.

Viashino_wizard switched in Daikaiju (lvl 100 Blastoise ?).
Bastiodon used Iron Head.
It's not very effective...
Daikaiju lost 12% of its health.
The wish came true!
Daikaiju restored 50% of its health.

After that attack, my Blastoise was almost dead, but she held on and got a nice comfy Wish boost. Have I mentioned I love Wish-passing Hypno yet?

Bastiodon used Metal Burst.
But it failed!
Blastoise used Roar.
Boingo switched in Froslass (lvl 100 Froslass ?).

I wasn't too keen on letting that thing kill me with a Metal Burst, so I have Daikaiju Roar it out instead. And, of course, in comes the ghostwhore.

Viashino_wizard switched in Turbo Daisy (lvl 100 Dunsparce ?).
Froslass used Thunderbolt.
Turbo Daisy lost 32% of its health.

I switch in Daisy, hoping for a Hypno-predicting Shadow Ball. She gets thunderbolt instead, but still has enough health to survive another.

Boingo switched in Vileplume (lvl 100 Vileplume ?).
Dunsparce used Rock Slide.
Vileplume lost 24% of its health.

My arch-nemesis is back, but at least it took some damage.

Vileplume used Energy Ball.
Dunsparce lost 38% of its health.
Dunsparce used Body Slam.
Vileplume lost 41% of its health.

I try to paralyze the wretch with Body Slam, but it is not to be. A man has to know when to admit defeat.

Viashino_wizard switched in Phoawr (lvl 100 Meganium ?).
Vileplume used Energy Ball.
It's not very effective...
Phoawr lost 16% of its health.
Phoawr's leftovers restored its health a little!
Phoawr restored 6% of its health.
Phoawr is hurt by poison!
Phoawr lost 6% of its health.

Daisy can't take another hit, so I switch out to Phoawr and our Aromatherapists find themselves locked in epic struggle once again.

Meganium used Hidden Power.
It's super effective!
Vileplume lost 29% of its health.
Vileplume used Moonlight.
Vileplume restored 50% of its health.
Meganium's leftovers restored its health a little!
Meganium restored 6% of its health.
Meganium is hurt by poison!
Meganium lost 12% of its health.

Vileplume laughs off my attack and heals up while Phoawr is debilitated by poison. This doesn't do much to improve my opinion of it.

Meganium used Aromatherapy.
Vileplume used Moonlight.
Vileplume restored 50% of its health.

I'm not too hot on taking any more poison damage, so Phoawr Aromatherapys it away while Vileplume heals itself to maximum.

Boingo switched in Froslass (lvl 100 Froslass ?).
Viashino_wizard switched in For I Am Little Buttercup (lvl 100 Butterfree ?).

I know Meganium can't beat Vileplume, so I wake Buttercup up and send him back. Boingo predicts the switch, though, and let's Froslass get in.

Butterfree
used Protect.
Butterfree protected itself!
Froslass used Thunderbolt.
Butterfree protected itself!

I use Protect to get some lefties recover, and see what Boingo thinks I'm going to do.

Froslass used Ice Beam.
It's super effective!
Butterfree lost 101% of its health.
Viashino_wizard's For I Am Little Buttercup fainted.

5-5

I had hoped Buttercup could survive an attack to status, but Ice Beam had just enough power to OHKO.

Viashino_wizard switched in Phoawr (lvl 100 Meganium ?).
Froslass used Ice Beam.
It's super effective!
A critical hit!
Phoawr lost 162% of its health.
Viashino_wizard's Phoawr fainted.

4-5 Boingo

This was a really stupid move on my part. I have no idea why I did it.

Viashino_wizard switched in Daikaiju (lvl 100 Blastoise ?).
Boingo switched in Ampharos (lvl 100 Ampharos ?).
Daikaiju used Surf.
Ampharos lost 29% of its health.

Daikaiju could hopefully survive an attack and KO Froslass. Boingo thought so too, so in comes Ampharos.

Blastoise used Surf.
Ampharos lost 33% of its health.
Ampharos used Thunderbolt.
It's super effective!
Blastoise lost 69% of its health.

I didn't really think I could safely switch to anything else, so I stayed in and surfed again. Fortunately, Ampharos wasn't strong enough to knock Daikaiju out.

Blastoise used Ice Beam.
Ampharos lost 20% of its health.
Boingo's Ampharos fainted.

4-4

I finish the electric sheep off with Ice Beam in case he tries switching to Vileplume. He doesn't.

Boingo switched in Tropius (lvl 100 Tropius ?).
Tropius used Leaf Blade.
It's super effective!
Blastoise lost 46% of its health.
Viashino_wizard's Daikaiju fainted.

3-4 Boingo

Daikaiju is pretty much finished, so I let her die to Tropius.

Viashino_wizard switched in Slow Moe (lvl 100 Hypno ?).
Tropius used Leaf Blade.
Slow Moe lost 33% of its health.
Slow Moe used Thunder Wave.
Tropius is paralysed! It may be unable to move!

And Moe returns. Tropius' Leaf Blade isn't enough to kill my Hypno, who paralyzes the coconut dragon.

Boingo switched in Vileplume (lvl 100 Vileplume ?).
Hypno used Wish.
Hypno made a wish!

Moe's health is pretty low at this point, so he makes a Wish while Vileplume comes in.

Hypno used Thunder Wave.
Vileplume is paralysed! It may be unable to move!
Vileplume is paralysed! It can't move!
The wish came true!
Hypno restored 50% of its health.

No mucking around this time. I go straight for the paralyze. Vileplume is rendered inoperable as Wish kicks in.

Hypno used Reflect.
A barrier was formed!
Vileplume used Aromatherapy.

And there's Aromatherapy number I Stopped Counting.

Hypno used Thunder Wave.
Vileplume is paralysed! It may be unable to move!
Vileplume used Toxic.
Hypno was badly poisoned!

The two exchange statuses again. What followed was a very boring stall battle. Basically, there was a lot of Wishing, Paralysis, Aromatherapy and Moonlight, with gradually increasing poison damage each turn.

Viashino_wizard switched in Turbo Daisy (lvl 100 Dunsparce ?).
Vileplume used Moonlight.
Vileplume restored 50% of its health.

It occurs to me at this point that if Moe stays in any longer he'll start taking huge poison damage, so I send in Daisy as a sacrifice.

Vileplume used Energy Ball.
Turbo Daisy lost 37% of its health.
Viashino_wizard's Turbo Daisy fainted.

2-4 Boingo

Daisy goes down. I had hoped she might be faster, but alas it was not so.

Viashino_wizard switched in Slow Moe (lvl 100 Hypno ?).
Boingo switched in Bastiodon (lvl 100 Bastiodon ?).
Slow Moe used Wish.
Slow Moe made a wish!

Moe comes back in and Wishes himself some HP. Uninterested in another stall duel, Boingo brings Bastiodon back to the battlefield.

Hypno used Thunder Wave.
Bastiodon is paralysed! It may be unable to move!
Bastiodon used Iron Head.
A critical hit!
Hypno lost 36% of its health.
The wish came true!
Hypno restored 50% of its health.

Not having that much better to do, Moe paralyzes Bastiodon who, even with a critical, can't keep a good Hypno down.

Hypno
used Wish.
Hypno made a wish!
Bastiodon is paralysed! It can't move!

That being said, his health is still pretty low, so another Wish is on the agenda. Bastiodon is conveniently priorly disposed.

Hypno used Reflect.
A barrier was formed!
Bastiodon is paralysed! It can't move!
The wish came true!
Hypno restored 50% of its health.

I know I have nothing left to lose, so Moe sets up a Reflect for my last pokemon. Bastiodon is still paralyzed.

NEW CHALLENGER:
dpmfa342.png

Viashino_wizard switched in Seargent Payne (lvl 100 Crawdaunt ?).
Bastiodon is paralysed! It can't move!

I bring in my Trump Card: Seargent Payne the Crawdaunt. Bastiodon is still paralyzed, but it wouldn't have made a difference if he'd attacked thanks to Reflect and Crawdaunt's good defence.

Boingo switched in Vileplume (lvl 100 Vileplume ?).
Crawdaunt used Swords Dance.
Crawdaunt's attack was sharply raised.

I'm not sure whether I should Sword Dance or attack a potential Froslass switch in, but I seriously doubt he would switch a fragile ghost into a Crawdaunt with an unknown moveset. I'm right, and in comes Vileplume while the Seargent boogies down to set up his sweep.

Crawdaunt
used Crunch.
Vileplume lost 141% of its health.
Boingo's Vileplume fainted.
Crawdaunt lost 10% of its health.

2-3 Boingo

Despite his tough appearance, Payne was actually trained as a medic; he has a PhD in evisceration, which he demonstrates by shredding my long-time enemy into a side of salad.

Boingo switched in Tropius (lvl 100 Tropius ?).
Tropius used Leaf Blade.
It's super effective!
Crawdaunt lost 40% of its health.
Crawdaunt used Crunch.
Tropius lost 124% of its health.
Boingo's Tropius fainted.
Crawdaunt lost 10% of its health.

2-2

After doing nothing twice, Reflect finally gets some use, allowing Seargent Payne to survive and crucial Leaf Blade and obliterate Tropius in return.

Boingo switched in Bastiodon (lvl 100 Bastiodon ?).
Crawdaunt used Brick Break.
It's super effective!
Bastiodon lost 180% of its health.
Boingo's Bastiodon fainted.
Crawdaunt lost 10% of its health.
Crawdaunt's reflect wore off!

2-1 Me

Knowing he doesn't have to fear a Focus Sashed Metal Burst, the Crustacean Crusher blows Bastiodon away with some Deep-Sea Kung Fu.

Boingo switched in Froslass (lvl 100 Froslass ?).
Viashino_wizard switched in Slow Moe (lvl 100 Hypno ?).
Froslass used Thunderbolt.
Slow Moe lost 15% of its health.

Boingo's down to just Froslass, but my Crawdaunt is too slow to kill it. Instead, Moe takes the field one last time, taking a Thunderbolt like it's nothing.

Froslass used Thunder Wave.
But it failed!
Hypno used Thunder Wave.
Froslass is paralysed! It may be unable to move!

Moe had enough HP left to survive a Shadow Ball, but it wasn't neccesary as Froslass had forgotten he was already poisoned. My kick-ass Hypno paralyzed her, rendering her slower than Crawdaunt and effectively ending the game.

Hypno
used Wish.
Hypno made a wish!
Froslass used Shadow Ball.
It's super effective!
Hypno lost 44% of its health.
Hypno is hurt by poison!
Hypo lost 18% of its health.
Viashino_wizard's Slow Moe fainted.

1-1

All that's left is for Moe to sacrifice itself so that the Seargent could get in unmolested. He gets his affairs in order, says good bye to his grandchildren, politely asks Payne to avenge his death and bites the bullet like a true gentleman.

Viashino_wizard switched in Seargent Payne (lvl 100 Crawdaunt ?).
Seargent Payne used Crunch.
It's super effective!
Froslass lost 170% of its health.
Boingo's Froslass fainted.
Viashino_wizard wins!
Viashino_wizard: Good game. Would you mind if I did a Warstory of this on Smogon?
Boingo: not at all
Boingo: gg too
Viashino_wizard: Thanks.
Boingo: bye

With his opponent slowed by paralysis, the Seargent brings down the hammer, ending both Froslass and the game. Boingo and I thank each other for a good game, and he graciously allows me to post this battle here.

Props:
-Slow Moe, for being an awesome Wish-passer, getting in that crucial Thunder Wave and Reflect at the end, and being worth his weight in freshly-minted twenty-dollar bills.
-The Seargent, for sweeping 2/3 of Boingo's team and winning me the game.
-Boingo, Froslass and Vileplume, for being formidable foes.
-Both me and my opponent for playing UU.

Slops:
-Me, for switching Meganium into Froslass.
-Bastiodon, for never getting off a useful Metal Burst and being set-up fodder for Moe.

That was an awesome battle, loved the commentary. Props to using a crawdant.

We should UU battle sometime.

Really? I don't remember that.

Pretty good, but a bit long for a warstory which caused me to lost interest after a while. Kudos for holding it as long as it did though. Makes me want to get into UU when I inevitably get knocked out of Smogon Tourney #4.

I dream of having UU battles like this. Only time will get me there. Thanks, this was absolutely awesome.

I am in love with your Crawdaunt and want to have its larvae.

Definitely one of the best warstories I've read in a while.
Good commentary, sweet UU pokemon and two really good battlers.

Very interesting warstory, i was amazed at how much time it took to see the first KO, good prediction from both sides and amazing pokes, the warstory made me want to try rapidash and hypno, keep posting great warstories like this one

I used to do UU battles, and I used Crawdaunt as well. That thing was fucking scary with a Choice Band (unfortunately, though, quite slow). I've also been wanting to try a Dunsparce, that thing has so many cool sets, and it's so cool it's not even annoying when it flinch-haxes you to death.

Good warstory, though you really did throw away your Meganium for no reason.

Nice warstory, most of the pokemon in your and your opponent's team are on of my favourite UU pokemon (I play OU, but I still like UU pokemon).

Really entertaining battle. Nice prediction wars at the beginning. It took quite some reading before you get to the first pokemon dying. After that it's all fast paced. Nice job on the story.

when I first went into this thread I scrolled down to about halfway and noticed the score was just 6-5 you so I was like wow what the fuck this is long. then I went back and read it and was pleasantly surprised, I like all these UU warstories :)

What I read of it I enjoyed, unfortunately it was a tad too long for my tastes as I struggle when confronted by such a large section of text.

(The stall war section in particular strikes me as being something that could easily be summarised ...)

With longer battles I often find it more helpful to break up the text with pictures, gradually revealing the team rather than doing it all at once at the beginning.

But as I said earlier the commentary was enjoyable and you know, what makes a good battle, just tweak the formatting a bit and you'll be producing grade A work. : )

I don't think you're really allowed to complain about Blissey in OU if you use Hypno in UU, but it was a good match either way.
