Welcome to the fourth iteration of UU Masters! Matchups are standard SS UU, best-of-three, double elimination.

Tournament Rules:
  • General tournament rules and regulations can be found here.
  • Standard SS UU.
  • Best-of-three, double elimination.
  • Battles should take place on Pokemon Showdown!, ideally on the smogtours server.
  • SS cartridge win conditions are in place; there are no ties.
  • Tiers are locked at the beginning of each round.

Battle Clauses:
  • Sleep Clause: A player cannot put two or more different opposing Pokémon to sleep using attacks that induce sleep to opposing Pokémon.
  • Species Clause: A player cannot have two of the same Pokémon on their team. For example, a player cannot have two Koffing on their team.
  • Evasion Clause: A player cannot use the moves Double Team or Minimize in their Pokémon's movesets.
  • OHKO Clause: Players cannot use Horn Drill, Guillotine, Sheer Cold, or Fissure in any of their Pokémon's movesets.
  • Timer Clause: If a player exhausts the timer, they lose.
  • Endless Battle Clause: Any moveset on any pokemon that is capable of intentionally causing an endless battle is banned from competitive play.
  • Dynamax Clause: You cannot Dynamax your Pokemon.
General recommendations:
  • Contact your opponent as soon as possible upon the round going up. Activity cases are going to be handled in a very strict manner.
  • When scheduling, offer the widest range of time possible to play. 1 hour of activity on one or two weeknights is unlikely to be considered acceptable.
  • Schedule specifically - do not schedule for "Friday afternoon" or "Sunday morning", pick a date, a time and note the timezone.
That aside, feel free to get back to me if you still have any questions regarding this tournament after reading this post.

Points for the 2022 UU Tournament Circuit will be awarded accordingly for people who perform well in this tournament.

Banned deucer.
HL Matchups, will be grateful for times

Winners Bracker

umbry  vs  Meru - Newly reinvented into a UU main, Meru has been one of the strongest gen8uu players in 2021 and 2022. Umbry on the other hand seems to be doing excellently this year as well and has Lily support most likely. Both will be very motivated to win.

Moutemoute  vs  Pak - I do think Moute’s win over rob a couple rounds ago was rather shaky and had issues in execution (Slowking was needlessly sacked g2 I believe). Pak is a player of Rob’s caliber but it remains to be seen how much he cares about gen8uu.

Adaam  vs  dunoks - Adaam just won BFM’s tour which frankly is probably at least as difficult as winning UU masters itself but dunoks is going to be a challenge for sure, he wants to keep shining after contributing to his UUSD team’s victory and he is a very tenacious defender

Losers Bracket

Chaitanya  vs  avarice - both are rather like the strong and silent type but from very different friend groups in my estimation

Indigo Plateau  vs  DugZa - IP in my view is deliberately holding back every match, bringing sus teams and playing on phone but I’m not sure I’ve seen many games from DugZa in Gen8uu, can’t recall much except him hosting a team tour.

Estarossa  vs  KSt3ve - Two other players with deep connections to UU players. Both seem to really hate losing more than most players in my view so I think they will view this elimination round as rather desperate and try very hard to win

KM  vs  ProDigeZz - I expect prodigezz to be quite motivated as he eliminated his friend last round and likely wants to win for him. He’s frankly also just good, making Majors finals last year among other results. KM has always struck me as someone as very secure with himself and levelheaded even though he often brings creative techniques as well. I.e, he doesn’t feel the need to win this to prove himself, that’s not a slight on him, I think it makes his play more sound actually
