UU Physical Offense {Peaked Number 10, 1652 CRE}

a-clockwork-orange-3-1024.jpg

This is an A Clockwork Orange themed RMT, based on my most successful team to date. It is an almost purely physical offense team, that keeps the offensive pressure high with two U-Turn users and general hard hitting pokes. As stated in the title, this team peaked at number 10 on the leader board under my alt -655321- (the other 655321 is my "fun" alt). "655321" is the main Character, Alex's prison number, which is where I got the idea for this theme.

Billy Boy (Alakazam) (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Taunt
- Psychic
- Counter
- Signal Beam

Billy Boy, the nemesis of Alex. I named Alakazam Billy Boy because Billy appears early in the book, and is also the nemisis of Alex. Alakazam is my lead and is the only special attacker on my team. Alakazam has proven to be an AMAZING lead. He generally gets at least one kill per game, along with keeping Rocks off the field early. Counter is my favorite move on the set. At first I had Focus Blast in that slot, and admittedly, there have been times that I've missed it, but for me, it is not near as useful as Counter. I've KO'd Countless Drapions with it, coming in thinking I'll switch. Psychic and Signal Beam provide decent coverage, and can still do massive amounts of damage , even unboosted.

Georgie (Venusaur) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Sleep Powder
- Power Whip
- Earthquake

Georgie is Alex's second in charge, and Venusaur pulls off the second most sweeps, which is where I see the connection. I cannot seem to make a "succesful" team without Venusaur, it just checks soooooo many things, while also supporting the rest of the team with Sleep Powder. Without this guy right here, Milotic would require at least one sacrifice to take down. Swords Dance is my favorite set, because it can easily get past Registeel, who could otherwise cause problems.

Donphan.png

Pete (Donphan) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP/52 Def/204 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge

Pete is the least violent of Alex's drooges, and Donphan is really the only pokemon that can't sweep on the team. This, more or less, is Heysup's Sp.D Donphan, when I was making it, it seemed familiar, but I didn't know why until I played Heysup. Donphan is the main supporter of the team, setting up and ridding the field of Rocks for Scyther and Swellow. Stone Edge helps with my Moltres weakness, being able to survive a Fire Blast and KO with Stone Edge. Earthquake is obvious STAB and still hits hard, even without EV's.
160Feraligatr.png

Dim (Feraligatr) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 88 HP/252 Atk/168 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake

Dim is bulky in his own right, as is Feraligatr. Feraligatr is a very powerful sweeper, with great type coverage, capable of sweeping unprepared teams with little effort. The EV's allow me to outpace Swellow after a Dragon Dance. The power is missed, but too often I was revenged by a Swellow's Facade. The power is missed, but often I am able to get more than one Dance in, so I don't really mind. Feraligatr was almost replaced with Toxicroak in the beginning because Milotics were getting on my nerves, but I decided to stick with it and have not looked back.
Swellow.png

Alex (Swellow) (M) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/4 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Facade
- Brave Bird
- U-turn
- Quick Attack

The star of the Show, Alex is the leader of the gang, and also the most violent. Swellow has proven to be amazing sweeping or at least severely damaging a few pokes on the opposing team. Swellow also helps keep momentum in my favor with U-Turn, helping to always keep me in an advantageous position. Quick Attack is a much better option than Protect like other people use, since priority is never bad. Swellow has rocked so far and could not imagine changing him.

Scyther.png

P. R. Deltoid (Scyther) (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/4 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Aerial Ace
- U-turn
- Quick Attack
- Bug Bite

P. R. Deltoid helps to keep Alex on track in the beginning of the book, and Scyther really helps Swellow sweep. It works almost like using Rayquaza and Salamence in Ubers, with one weakening the others counters. Swellow's counters don't like taking repeated U-turns to the face, just to be forced out by another poke on my team. I chose Bug Bite over his other options because it helps endgame, with much different coverage than Aerial Ace, should I need it. Bug Bite also does more to Rhyperior than Brick Break.

And, that's the team. Note that this team was not designed to be an almost all physical team, it just happened, so don't be affraid to suggest special pokes. Thank you!

I run a team very similar to this and I must say that rotom just has it's way with it. I suggest changing Venusaur to a SpecialSaur. It helps with WoWers somewhat and can actually damage fire-type switch-ins. I can't think of much more atm. Nice team, gl, and congrats on breaking the top 10!

Yes, Rotom is an ass to this team lol I was considering trying Pursuit>Bug Bite on Scyther because of it, but even that doesn't really do enough against defensive versons, so I just said screw it. I will test special Venusaur, but I like SD Saur because it lets me set up on, and get rid of Registeel, as opposed to Donphan which only scares it off. Thank you, this is the first time I've creacked the top ten since I started playing "competitively" mid last year.

Maybe you can try arcanine over gatr. I know it seems odd, but it can absorb those annoying will-o-wisps. It may put you down a set up sweeper, but this team has trouble with bulky waters anyway. You can toxic or WoW them on the switch-in and call it a day. It also adds some priority in the form of Extremespeed which never hurts. Lol, I tried. =)

You Alakazam could be imroved by changing Signal Beam to HP Rock and tweaking the EVs. It will also give you more damage on your counter.

36 HP / 220 Spe / 252 SpA with 30IV in Def, Speed and SpD and a Timid Nature. It works alot better in the current metagame thanks to it being overun with rock weak sweepers. it also shuts down all Moltres Outspeeding all variants bar the choice scarf.

I think Arcanine could work, I'll give it a shot lol I just love Gatr, maybe a little too much. Thanks for the advice.

EDIT: @ILoveLiza, I like Signal Beam because it lets me hit Psychic and Dark types for SE damage. Psychic already 2HKO's Moltres, and so I think I'll keep it the same for now. As for the Ev's, I like max speed, because I don't really mind speed ties on suicide leads, and the 36 hp doesn't really do much. Thank you for the advice.

Hi Godsend,

This is a pretty decent team, but there's no denying on the insane weakness you have with burn -- particularly from the likes of Rotom and defensive Weezing. So what will patch up this issue? I'd like you to give Houndoom a shot over Swellow. This might seem like a big trade off but it is worth the swap in my opinion, as I can fully attest to this sets ability. The set is Pursuit / Sucker Punch / Thunder Fang / Fire Blast with the EVs 252 Atk / 30 SpA / 228 Spe at a Hasty nature. The basic premise is to switch into simple Will-O-Wisp threats such as Rotom, Mismagius, and Weezing and deal damage to them accordingly. It also gives you a nice ability to suck Fie Blast from Moltres in particular since Feraligatr can't take these repeated assaults. Luring in Rotom with a CB Scyther should be a walk in the park and the EVs allow you to outpace Rotom, consequently allowing you to OHKO fleeing Rotom with Pursuit. With their Ghost-types removed, spinning is an easier task now. If the opponent wields a Choice Scarf, Sucker Punch is the safe choice. Houndoom will hold your team together from the unforgiving burn status. It additionally gives you a Psychic resist and a semi-check to Alakazam and Espeon. Give this a try. With these stupid Will-O-Wisp threats removed, Venusaur, Feraligatr, and even CB Scyther is highly capable of sweeping now.

It will be difficult to break Pokemon like Tangrowth so maybe you can try your hands on a basic LO Feraligatr with the EVs 252/252. It ultimately maximizes your ability to hurt stuff after you get a boost. I know from personal experience that LO Feraligatr can give offense hell, and swapping LO for Lefties was definitely the right move. Give it a shot.

As for other options, you might want to try out Brick Break over Bug Bite. This might be a good idea in case you are stuck facing a late-game Rock- or Steel-type. Knowing that you can hit them for super effective damage seems like you safer choice than Bug Bite. overall gl.

I mean you're running a team that's weak to Tangrowth and Weezing and anything with Will-O-Wisp, even Spiritomb for that matter. I don't think you can survive against a stall team with this team because nothing will like coming in and take the Will-O-Wisp from Rotom or Spiritomb. Basically, Omastar + Rotom walls you to death.

Instead of taking franky's suggestion of Houndoom, you could also try Arcanine over either Swellow or Scizor. I'm personally a bigger fan of Swellow due to the non-4x Stealth Rock weakness and strong Facade (also acts as a status absorber), so I would recommend replacing Scyther. Arcanine takes those WoW's like a champ, and can turn it into attacking power boosts. It also keeps the physical theme that you have going. I think HP Grass should also be considered on said Arcanine if you make the change because as I mentioned before, stall teams are troubling.

Hi,

Great team, congrats on breaking the top 10. The Rotom weakness can easily be patched up by taking Franky's suggestion of replacing Swelliw with a MixDoom, but IMO Crunch over Thunder Fang might be a better choice, as it gives you a reliable physical STAB
move, very useful against Chansey, Clefable and Slowbro.

I'd like you to consider replacing Leftovers on Venusaur with Life Orb. It now handily runs through Stall, OHKOing defensive Rotom and Spiritomb, and gives you a much appreciated power boost at the cost of some bulk.

The Specially Defensive EVs on Donphan leaves you with a massive Swellow weakness, so I'd recommend just using the standard physically defensive set on Donphan, with Ice Shard over Stone Edge to revenge kill RP Torterra, Swellow and the like. You can now replace Signal Beam on Zam with HP Rock, which guarantees the OHKO on Moltres, who is mostly used as a lead anyway.

Great team, and gl.
