UU vs Uber. Luck here!

I was looking for a UU battle to test my new UU team, and I saw Ultimifier in the UU list, so I challenged him and suddenly I found a Uber team. He was waiting for Ubers and we got an really strange battle.

I want to say that this Warstory only shows how luck can ruin a team, and here there is a huge amount of luck. If you don’t believe me, you will see…

Rules: Evasion Clause, OHKO Clause, Sleep Clause, Species Clause, Timed Battle
ultimifier sent out Dialga (lvl 100 Dialga).
skapados sent out Froslass (lvl 100 Froslass ?).

The first surprise, I was so happy with my lead Froslass, and suddenly, I saw this beast!! I realised that it was a misunderstood, so I decided to have fun, and see what a UU team can do against a Uber team.

Dialga is exerting its pressure!
Froslass used Thunder Wave.
Dialga is paralysed! It may be unable to move!
Dialga is paralysed! It can't move!

I decided to Thunder Wave, so with Froslass speed it was going to be faster than Dialga. I got some luck with paralysis, so I tried to leech some life to Dialga.

Froslass used Ice Beam.
Dialga lost 30% of its health.
Dialga is paralysed! It can't move!

Wow! Another paralysis hax… my Froslass is untouched, and his Dialga is paralysed and with 70% of life… I tried to Ice Beam again…

Froslass used Ice Beam.
Dialga lost 34% of its health.
Dialga is paralysed! It can't move!

This is unbeliveable. Three paralysis in a row. Another Ice Beam goes…

Dialga lost 33% of its health.
Dialga is paralysed! It can't move!

Can you understand this? Shoddy was playing with us, or Madam Luck has been with me for once.

A critical hit!
Dialga lost 69% of its health.
ultimifier's Dialga fainted.

Froslass is Uber(lol). Dialga fainted and didn’t touch Froslass… I couldn’t believe the luck I had, so now I was waiting for a fast sweep…

6-5 Skapados

ultimifier switched in Latios (lvl 100 Latios ?).

Latios will rape my team, but I will paralysed it al least.

Froslass used Thunder Wave.
Latios is paralysed! It may be unable to move!
Latios is paralysed! It can't move!

This is amazing! Another paralysis, and my Froslass continues untouched.

Froslass used Ice Beam.
It's super effective!
Latios lost 54% of its health.
Latios is paralysed! It can't move!

It was absolutely incredible... Another paralysis and Froslass will kill Latios right now with another Ice Beam.

Froslass used Ice Beam.

Latios lost 48% of its health.
ultimifier's Latios fainted.

6-4 Skapados

ultimifier switched in Kyogre (lvl 100 Kyogre).
Kyogre's Drizzle caused a storm!
Rain began to fall!

The party will finish with this big Uber, but I have a little trick in my Froslass set…

Froslass used Thunder Wave.
Kyogre is paralysed! It may be unable to move!
Kyogre used Surf.
Froslass lost 122% of its health.
Froslass hung on using its Focus Sash!
The rain continues to fall.

Another paralysis… it was the first time that he was able to attack me. Now this water beast will go with Latios and Dialga…

Froslass used Destiny Bond.
Froslass is trying to take its foe with it!
Kyogre used Surf.
Froslass lost 130% of its health.
skapados's Froslass fainted.
Froslass took Kyogre with it!

5-3 Skapados

ultimifier switched in Lugia (lvl 100 Lugia).
skapados switched in Nidoqueen (lvl 100 Nidoqueen ?).

Lugia, the best wall in Ubers. Nidoquen, an average wall in UU. Here is the end of the party… Nidoqueen, try to do what you have to do.

Lugia used Swords Dance.
Lugia's attack was sharply raised.
Nidoqueen used Toxic Spikes.
Spikes were scattered everywhere!
Toxic Spikes were scattered around the foe's team!

I was going to lay my Toxic Spikes, but when I saw Swords Dance in Lugia… I was really surprised and terrified… how could I stop a big tank with steroids?

Lugia used Swords Dance.
Lugia's attack was sharply raised.
Nidoqueen used Toxic Spikes.
Toxic Spikes were scattered around the foe's team!

A Lugia with 4+ attack, against a Nidoqueen, which can only wall Heracross and SD Lucario… here it comes the sweep…

Lugia used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
Nidoqueen lost 122% of its health.
skapados's Nidoqueen fainted.

Cradily used Toxic.
Lugia was badly poisoned!
Lugia used Avalanche.
It's super effective!

Cradily lost 168% of its health.

Lugia is hurt by poison!
Lugia lost 6% of its health.

Cradily came and poisoned Lugia, so I was waiting to toxic stall him… but I think that it will be quite difficult, because my Cradily is down.

3-3

skapados switched in Golduck (lvl 100 Golduck ?).

I sent my Scarf Duck, so I could try to help the poison.

Golduck used Ice Beam.
It's super effective!
Lugia lost 40% of its health.
Lugia used Earthquake.
Golduck lost 117% of its health.
skapados's Golduck fainted.

Lugia's leftovers restored its health a little!

It did more than I suspected. Now Lugia’s life is under 50%.

2-3 Ultimifier

skapados switched in Pinsir (lvl 100 Pinsir ?).

Pinsir… it resists Earthquake and Avalanche could let me attack first, so I will try to Stone Edge it.

Lugia used Roost.
Lugia restored 50% of its health.
Pinsir used Stone Edge.
Lugia lost 29% of its health.
Pinsir lost 10% of its health.
The rain continues to fall.
Lugia's leftovers restored its health a little!
Lugia restored 6% of its health.
Lugia is hurt by poison!

Great... Roost. Anyway, the damage from poison is bigger each turn, so I will try to kill it with some Stone Edges more…

I was waiting now for a Roost, and I used X-Scissor. But it decided to Earthquake me. Lugia lost all its life with the poison.

What could I do against Darkrai? Only pray…

1-2 ultimifier

My last pokémon. CBChan. It will OHKO Darkrai, but it will be locked in Mach Punch…

It did a critical, but it didn’t need it. I was waiting for the only pokémon in Ubers which could be killed in the field…

ultimifier switched in Shedinja (lvl 100 Shedinja).

Madam Luck comes again!! Shedinja was the only one which couldn’t kill my Hitmonchan!

Nidoqueen’s spikes have worked.

It doesn't affect Shedinja...

I couldn’t believe this, so I decided to Warstory it (Funstory).

I only see a prop: if you are lucky, you can win with a Magikarp xD.

Nah, it’s a joke, this is a real battle, but I only post it because I think that it’s funny and shows how luck affects in this game.
 
It's a pretty funny match so I enjoyed this, but what really really needs to be emphasized here as well as many other war stories is that a war story should be about the story. Not about the log. It is not a log with comments. It is a battle with comments, and the log should occasionally be a help to you. When I wrote war stories, I only used logs for a "zoom in" on turns, like

"Vaporeon was definitely going to pull this through, since Chinchou couldn't do anything, but..."

[log of paralysis/CHs/whatevers here, perhaps with some cussing]

Also, pictures would really help. Pictures rule. They give flavour to your story.

So overall it is not a bad war story at all, it just could be a lot better.
 
Parahax FTW! This clearly demonstrates the way luck effects the outcome of battles, but I do have to commend you on the win. You made some wise decisions that allowed you to win. It wasn't a perfect warstory, but it was an entertaining battle. Thanks.

@Mekkah: Thanks for your opinion, and I will have all this in consideration if I do another Warstory, but I only wanted to show you what luck can do in this game. About the pictures, I edited it and they are at the begining.

@astrohawke: good calcs! Yes, it will never happen again to me I think ...

@dragontamer: this happened to me with my Froslass in UU a lot of times, and it's great when your opponent doesn't know what to do, if you attack, Destiny Bond could come again, and if you switch out, another Thunder Wave could come again.

The rest, I liked seeing that you had fun with my funstory.
 
Awesome war story. IMO there was no need for comments; it would've just made it cheesy and exaggerated. The log speaks for itself. :D

Geometric distribution with 1/4096 chance of it happening each battle... you have a 50% chance of seeing it by your 2838th battle, and a 95% chance of seeing it again by your 12269th battle.

Of course, thats the calculation of it happening on the very beginning. Your chances are much higher should you assume each "turn" with Froslass out using T-Wave will have that chance of happening. IE: By your 12269th time using T-wave, you'll probably see it again.
 
Too bad Lugia can't learn Swords Dance, and why did he keep switching ice weaks into a Froslass? Very poor play on his part was the only way you won. Also, X-Scissor would outdamage Stone Edge against Lugia (2*1.5*80 versus 2*100). But aside from that, nice job being really lucky.

Flying / Psychic is neutral to X-Scissor, so it would be 1.5*80 vs 2 *100. So Stone Edge would be better usually, but X-Scissor would be better when Lugia Roosts.
 
@scorchedsky: Ehm... I think that Lugia can learn Swords Dance... but it's not very useful in a wall like it. Why do you 2x X-Scissor, if it's not super effective? Only when it Roosts, but I did it when I realised...

Well SD Lugia is really only on Shoddy, as neither Serebii nor SmogonDex say he can learn it...and X-Scissor really only would've benefited you once or twice, upon re-reading. I didn't realize you thought Pinsir would outspeed Lugia, so the first SE was the right call in that case.
 
...and we, as a community, are arguing over allowing Evasion. Don't you see? We have enough luck as it is!!!

it was my brother's team and he was unaware of swords dance, but it looked fun so i kept it on anyway

ok. now the part in bold really pisses me off. You seem not to understand the concept of plurals. I switched a latios into frolass ONCE. My latios has max speed, so i figure that i will go first, if not have a 50/50 chance of going first and OHKOing. So that was hardly a mistake, as who else am i going to send in on my team. I want to keep kyogre hidden and everyone else is a worse switch in that latios.

And i did not lose because of poor play, i lost because of a shitty team and extreme 1/8192 chances that should never happen. so before you go around saying a played poorly and questioning my choices use your brain and tihnk like a normal human being with an IQ over 75.
 
Darkrai's faster can threatens a OHKO with Dark Pulse, Kyogre resists Ice, (why wouldn't you want to give him away? It's an uber team versus UU...), and Lugia's got base 154 Sp. Def. I guess Lugia doesn't make sense because of its weird set, but why not bring in Darkrai after Dialga went down? Or why not switch Dialga out earlier?

Umm, Avalanche's negative priority made Lugia go before Cradily.

This warstory was awesome in the entertaining sense, I just wish it had a bit more commentary. It could've done better if you got rid of Leftovers recovery in it as well, otherwise, not bad!
