With UUCL having come to an end, it's time for me to tell you the story about how The Amazing Ambipoms came to be. When the tour was confirmed, I knew I wanted to participate. At first I thought I could play for someone else's team, but as the days passed, that idea started appealing less and less to me. I wanted a bit of a break from playing SV after my UU Open run concluded, and with UU Classic just having started, I wasn't feeling ready to play oldgens at a passable level yet. I also expected for the manager signups to be more competitive, but as we came closer to that deadline and that didn't seem to be the case, I decided to reach out to a few friends to see if they'd be interested in managing with me. Punny said he needed a break until SCL, but Starbitstorm wanted to try out managing for the first time (s/o
Lyssa for suggesting the collab). Our team's name ended up being a combination of the PU pokemon I was messing around in UU at that point in time, and the word "amazing", because SBS was formerly known as "Amazing UU tester", so it ended up relating to both of us in some way. I thought that a 20k manager self buy was a bit pricey for us SV mainers, in a tour that was more oldgens focused and would reward flexibility, so I was delighted when SBS said that he would also be fine with just supporting. That decision ended up giving us an advantage during the draft, since we had a bigger budget, so we ended up planning our draft accordingly.
starbitstorm thank you so much for managing with me and making this team a reality! Thank you for your efforts in supporting our SV and offering test games across many gens, whenever you could!
umbry when you finally signed for this tour, I wanted you to be the centerpiece of our team, and SBS agreed to my request. It's no secret that you're an incredible player, second to none when pure skill's concerned. But that's only part of the reason we decided to get you over other UU titans who were available. You're also a great teammate, as I had the priviledge to experience during UUPL, and in a team tournament setting, I value that very highly. You're also someone who's helped me a lot in UU, whenever I've needed some insight on teams and such. I knew that the overall success of this team would depend a lot on your level of involvement. Your support across multiple gens was invaluable. You joining the manager chat and helping out with lineup forming each week was extremely helpful. You playing gens you didn't prefer, in order for the team to have better odds, was vital for our success. And yet, I found those things to be within my expectations. I definitely did not expect you to want to come along and draft the rest of the team together with me and SBS, or have more lines than me in the team server. Thank you so much for everything!

Bouff . Given how both umbry and Bouff had expressed a preference in ADV, me and SBS would have not bidden as much on Bouff. I didn't want either player to get stuck with mostly playing gens they didn't prefer. umbry wanted to bid some more on them though, and so we did. It was feasible after all, since our budget was a bit bigger, and I wanted to create a team enviroment with good chemistry among the players. Bouff ended up being another vital part of this team's success. Bouff, you weren't only a dependable choice in ADV, you were also willing to flex in BW and help a lot across every oldgen. You also joined the manager chat and helped out with decision making. You also had more lines than me in the server, which is anything but random. I'm especially happy for you, cause we apparently managed to break a silly curse of you not being able to win UU team tours. This was your tour win, as much as anyone else's, and it was long overdue! Thank you so much for everything, and congratulations!
DugZa you were another one of umbry's recommendations, someone who me and SBS were willing to bid on, but not necessarily get. It ended up being super nice to have you around, mainly because you were able to flex across many gens and always pilot well. I ended up being very pleased with you, thanks for everything!
Melbelle I'm sorry this didn't end up being a good tour for you. You care a lot about the tier and you're very good, but shit happens sometimes. I hope things get better for you irl and I'm certain you'll return to greatness in the game.
Hacker Me and SBS were consider you as a SM option since the start of this tour, but you ended up smashing the competition in BW instead. Not much more to say here, I'd teamed with you in randbats before and I knew you could perform at a high level, but this was the performance of all time for sure. Thank you so much for being a vital part of this team's success!
Hydronics me and SBS were happy to have gotten you on the team, hoping you could also flex in various oldgens. I found the way you were approaching your prep earlier on, by not posting pastes in your channel and not communicating with teammates, to not be fitting into a team tournament setting, and that ended up resulting in quite a bit of friction. I don't think anyone was pleased with that, so it was nice that you were willing to communicate more during the later weeks of the tour. Unfortunately it wasn't a great tour for you regarding results, but it was still nice of you to be willing to flex and make our overall lineup stronger. Thanks and congrats on the ring!
KSt3ve We didn't communicate very well at the start of the tour, about you feeling better in SS than SV, and that cost us a bit of momentum earlier on. But thankfully you clutched for us a lot in SS during the later weeks. I'm sorry if you ended up loading teams you didn't prefer during this tour, and I'm also sorry if I came off as a dick in your channel. I know we talked about it privately before, but let this apology be public too. Thanks for everything you did for the team man!
Drud like umbry highlighted above, it was nice to be able to get someone of your playing quality, who could do his own prep, for as cheap as we did. I'm glad you ended up positive, you deserved it. Thank you for everything!
evakiyama! you were on mine and SBS's radars as a lower cost solid GSC option from the very start of the draft. The fact that umbry agreed on that made it an easy pick for us. Your wins were vital for the team, as were your nice chat vibes! Thanks so much for being a part of this!
Tree69420 why did you cost more than our SV starters... I probably outbid someone to get you. Well, I don't regret that at all. Me and SBS wanted to reward your overall presence in the community with a place on our team, and we did just that. You did well in helping Mel with her RBY prep, and also with building and testing in SV. It might have been unfortunate that you didn't grab a win this time around, but there are only better things for you to come. Thanks for tagging along!
Career Ended this tournament didn't end up being great for you and you experienced burnout near the end, which happens sometimes and it's understandable. That doesn't speak to your general ability though, better tours will come. Thanks for all your efforts!
Tuthur hey, you're another person I've had the pleasure of drafting in randbats before, and I'd seen some UU games of yours, so I knew you'd be a great 3k sleeper pick. You got some very impactful wins this tour, particularly the finals one. Thanks for being a part of this team!
Rasche I honestly don't remember umbry drafting you instead of me... but maybe that did happen... I know me and SBS were always considering you as a good cheap SV option. Your start of the tour was tough, and that paired with your low activity made us lose some faith on you during the start. After seeing you being a bit more active and volunteering to test, I pushed a bit to have you start again, and it fortunatelly paid off. You found your better form and clutched some very important wins. Thanks a lot for being on the team!
And now to the people who I couldn't have on my team as players, but this win wouldn't have been possible without.
Punny you're the GOAT, I won't get tired of saying this. Us kicking ass in BW wouldn't have been possible without you being around. Thank you for that and the immaculate vibes too!!! GOOD LUCK IN THE REMAINING OF SCL!!!
BeeOrSomething much like Punny, your presence was vital in order to have a good performance in GSC. Thanks for that and for livening up the chats!!!
BeatsBlack thanks for joining to support Drud in DPP, I know how good it is to have someone to rely on for your prep when you're busy!!!
Pak having you around for semis was the biggest reassurance everyone could ask for, when it came to dotting our i's and crossing our t's, in anything ORAS related. I was sad when I saw you left the server after that, but I understand how mons can become too much sometimes, especially when piled up into irl. Thank you so much for your help and good luck in your endeavors!
Sabella Mimilucha it was incredibly reassuring to have you guys on the server, even if just for the finals. Yes, everything is just umbry said above, Sab's idea lead her to build Tuthur's team, and of course we are all familliar with Sab's sun that Rasche loaded. So in this way, Sab was extremely influential to our singular 2-0 SV performance for this tour. Can't thank you enough for that, and for the vibes too!!! I wish you guys a good rest of SCL!!!
goldmason Nashrock HSOWA thank you guys so much for making this tour run so smoothly!!!
Finally, I'm sorry to anyone on the team who I might have offended by saying something. I do have a bunch of flaws, it's true, maybe more than most people. I try being aware of them and working on improving on how I'm interacting with others, and sometimes I still fail.
Also as an aside I just wanted to say shoutout to the Azelfs for making it this far. No offense, but not in a million years did I expect your team to make playoffs. So good on you for proving me wrong! Our series ended being down to the wire and I wouldn't have been surprised if this went to tb.
