SM Ubers uWu - a uu-only ubers team

bigtalk

Banned deucer.

Whats up everyone, today I have some heat to share with you all. This is a 100% serious Ubers balance team that consists entirely of UU mons. I have easily gotten to 1500 on an alt with it (still climbing) and I have won some games on my main at 1600+ elo. I feel that the team is very solid, it has checks to many of the most common metagame threats and matches up well against most offensive builds.

Latias was mandatory since it's the only Defogger in UU/lower that beats Pdon.

Slowbro was mandatory since it's the only thing in UU/lower that can handle Dusk Mane/Unec.

We have double psychic --> need a dark-type answer, Florges provides that along with cleric support which is essential for balance teams in Ubers.

Muk covers the ghost-type weakness, it pursuit traps Gengar so the rest of the team doesn't have to worry about trappers. It also deals with psychic-types like Lunala, Deoxys-A and Mewtwo Y.

Amoonguss is the Xerneas/Kyogre answer. Unlike Blissey, it retains some offensive presence and can deal with physical Primal Kyogre. (Note that it still loses to Psyshock Xerneas, however.)

The last Pokemon had to be a flying resist (specifically, a rock-type flying resist) to prevent stuff like Ho-oh, Facade Mega Salamence, and CM Arceus-Flying from going ham on the team. It also needed to set stealth rock. I chose Rhyperior because it has great bulk and decent offensive presence.

Latias @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic
- Draco Meteor
- Roost
- Defog

Latias is the Pdon check and defogger. The EVs let it outspeed jolly Pdon/Kyogre. The rest is in HP/Defense which lets it live +2 max atk Pdon Stone Edge after rocks, factoring in the round of Leftovers you got as you switched in. Tip: don't let this die as long as they have a Pdon alive, it's the only ground immunity.

  • 252+ Atk Groudon-Primal Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 160 Def Latias: 141-167 (38.7 - 45.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
  • +2 252+ Atk Groudon-Primal Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 160 Def Latias: 282-332 (77.4 - 91.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
  • 252+ SpA Groudon-Primal Overheat vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Latias in Harsh Sunshine: 155-183 (42.5 - 50.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
  • 252+ SpA Groudon-Primal Hidden Power Ice vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Latias: 128-152 (35.1 - 41.7%) -- 82.4% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

  • 0- SpA Kyogre-Primal Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Latias: 156-184 (42.8 - 50.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery (this is for the physical attacking set)
  • 252+ Atk Kyogre-Primal Liquidation vs. 252 HP / 160 Def Latias in Heavy Rain: 118-139 (32.4 - 38.1%) -- 2.2% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Slowbro-Mega @ Slowbronite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic
- Scald
- Slack Off
- Iron Defense

Slowbro is the physical wall and Necro/Zygarde/Lucario/Ekiller/<insert any physical attacker that can't hit it supereffectively here> counter. Since we have Rhyperior to check Flying types like Mence/Rayquaza, that affords us to run Scald over Ice Beam to better deal w/ Steel-types and fish for burns. Iron Defense allows us to beat setup sweepers such as Zygarde that would otherwise overpower us if they managed to get enough DDs/SDs off. The special defense EVs let you live 2 consecutive Overheats from max spatk Pdon, in case you were stupid enough to let Lati die while its still around.

  • +2 252+ Atk Necrozma-Dusk-Mane Searing Sunraze Smash vs. 248 HP / 216+ Def Slowbro-Mega: 197-232 (50.1 - 59%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
  • +2 252 Atk Necrozma-Ultra Light That Burns the Sky vs. 248 HP / 216+ Def Slowbro-Mega: 187-221 (47.5 - 56.2%) -- 83.2% chance to 2HKO
  • +2 252+ Atk Life Orb Arceus Shadow Claw vs. 248 HP / 216+ Def Slowbro-Mega: 198-234 (50.3 - 59.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
  • 252+ Atk Groudon-Primal Precipice Blades vs. 248 HP / 216+ Def Slowbro-Mega: 132-156 (33.5 - 39.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

  • 252+ SpA Groudon-Primal Overheat vs. 248 HP / 44 SpD Slowbro-Mega in Harsh Sunshine: 222-261 (56.4 - 66.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
  • -2 252+ SpA Groudon-Primal Overheat vs. 248 HP / 44 SpD Slowbro-Mega in Harsh Sunshine: 111-131 (28.2 - 33.3%) -- 0% chance to 3HKO

Florges @ Leftovers
Ability: Flower Veil
EVs: 248 HP / 56 Def / 204 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Synthesis
- Wish
- Heal Bell

Florges is the cleric for the team. It has a specially defensive spread, so do not switch it into physical attackers like Marshadow. However, do switch it into special attackers it walls very liberally. It can live 2 Hydro Pumps from LO Palkia after rocks, 2 Ice Beams from Specs Kyurem-W, 3 Oblivion Wings from LO Yveltal, etc. so in short it can take a ton of abuse. The small defense investment lets it live non-LO Rayquaza's Dragon Ascent from full.

  • 252 SpA Life Orb Palkia Hydro Pump vs. 248 HP / 204+ SpD Florges: 142-168 (39.5 - 46.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
  • 252 SpA Choice Specs Turboblaze Kyurem-White Ice Beam vs. 248 HP / 204+ SpD Florges: 147-174 (40.9 - 48.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
  • 252+ SpA Life Orb Yveltal Oblivion Wing vs. 248 HP / 204+ SpD Florges: 103-122 (28.6 - 33.9%) -- 98.8% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

  • 252+ Atk Rayquaza Dragon Ascent vs. 248 HP / 56 Def Florges: 304-358 (84.6 - 99.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
  • 252+ Atk Zygarde-Complete Thousand Arrows vs. 248 HP / 56 Def Florges: 171-202 (47.6 - 56.2%) -- 28.9% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
  • 252 Atk Life Orb Marshadow Spectral Thief vs. 248 HP / 56 Def Florges: 235-278 (65.4 - 77.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Muk-Alola @ Assault Vest
Ability: Poison Touch
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Atk / 28 Def / 148 SpD
Brave Nature
- Pursuit
- Knock Off
- Shadow Sneak
- Clear Smog

Muk switches into psychic-types like Mewtwo, Lunala, and Deoxys-A, as well as Mgar and defensive Pokemon that rely on Toxic like Lugia/Blissey. It definitely helps the matchup vs. fatter teams with Knock Off and spreading poison. Shadow Sneak is great for getting chip on Marshadow and makes up for this team's general lack of speed. Clear Smog helps with stuff like Naganadel/CM Arceus-Dark and lets it serve as a backup check to Xerneas if its carrying Psyshock. The spread is just standard, I stole it from the analysis.

Amoonguss @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 84 Def / 176 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Seed Bomb
- Clear Smog
- Foul Play
- Body Slam

Oh boy is this thing thic. A +2, Modest, Fairy Aura-boosted Moonblast does a whopping 37% max. Modest Ice Beam/Water Spout cannot 2HKO you. Its bulk when combined with Regenerator is just ridiculous, and it makes dealing with Xern/Kyogre a breeze. Seed Bomb over Grass Knot enables it to do more damage to Kyogre, esp. Calm Mind variants. Clear Smog removes boosts from Xern/Kyogre. Foul Play nets decent chip on physical attackers that would want to switch in to Gus, in particular Necro. Body Slam lets you paralyze stuff. The EVs let you live 2 Earthquakes from physical Primal Kyogre after Stealth Rock, and give you a good chance to live CC into Spectral Thief from LO Marsh from full.

  • 252+ Atk Kyogre-Primal Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 84 Def Amoonguss: 159-188 (36.8 - 43.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
  • 252+ Atk Kyogre-Primal Liquidation vs. 248 HP / 84 Def Amoonguss in Heavy Rain: 153-180 (35.4 - 41.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
  • 252+ SpA Kyogre-Primal Ice Beam vs. 248 HP / 176+ SpD Assault Vest Amoonguss: 166-196 (38.5 - 45.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
  • 252+ SpA Kyogre-Primal Water Spout (150 BP) vs. 248 HP / 176+ SpD Assault Vest Amoonguss in Heavy Rain: 154-182 (35.7 - 42.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
  • 252+ SpA Fairy Aura Xerneas Moonblast vs. 248 HP / 176+ SpD Assault Vest Amoonguss: 68-81 (15.7 - 18.7%) -- possible 6HKO
  • +2 252+ SpA Fairy Aura Xerneas Moonblast vs. 248 HP / 176+ SpD Assault Vest Amoonguss: 135-160 (31.3 - 37.1%) -- 83.3% chance to 3HKO
  • 252 Atk Life Orb Marshadow Close Combat vs. 248 HP / 84 Def Amoonguss: 148-175 (34.3 - 40.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
  • 252 Atk Life Orb Marshadow Spectral Thief vs. 248 HP / 84 Def Amoonguss: 222-263 (51.5 - 61%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Rhyperior @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 180 HP / 108 Atk / 212 SpD / 8 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Ice Punch

The rocker and flying-type answer. Its physical bulk is absolutely fantastic, it can live stuff like max atk Groudon Precipice Blades / LO Marsh CC from full. It has decent offensive presence with its good atk and great EdgeQuake coverage. Rock Slide is run over Stone Edge, the reason being I lost twice to Arceus-Flying because the opponent was able to miss-fish Stone Edge until I was out of PP. Ice Punch hits Zygarde/Mence/Rayquaza harder than Rock Slide and prevents Mence from roosting on you. The EVs hit a Leftovers number and let it take 2 Earthquakes from LO Ho-oh, the atk investment ensures it OHKOs defensive Ho-oh and 2HKOs Arceus-Flying with Rock Slide. 8 Spe lets you outspeed uninvested Xern/Yveltal and 235 speed Groudon if you paralyzed them with Amoonguss' Body Slam. The remainder is in spdef to make up for its low special bulk.

  • +1 8 SpA Sky Plate Arceus-Flying Judgment vs. 180 HP / 212 SpD Rhyperior: 135-159 (32.4 - 38.2%) -- 1.6% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
  • 252+ Atk Life Orb Ho-Oh Earthquake vs. 180 HP / 0 Def Solid Rock Rhyperior: 187-220 (44.9 - 52.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
  • +1 252+ Atk Aerilate Salamence-Mega Double-Edge vs. 180 HP / 0 Def Rhyperior: 167-197 (40.1 - 47.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

  • 252+ SpA Life Orb Dark Aura Yveltal Dark Pulse vs. 180 HP / 212 SpD Rhyperior: 296-348 (71.1 - 83.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Every member of the team bar Latias lives a hit from LO Marshadow. However, it is still a big threat because nothing can take 2 hits. This is not an oversight on my part; I literally looked thru every single fighting resistant Pokemon in UU/lower, and I could not find a single one worth using that could deal with Marshadow. Mega Altaria/Sylveon were the closest I got, but they are 2HKO'd with rocks up; Sylveon also needs an extra turn to recover, during which something like Necro can setup an SD and sweep your team. So I don't have a dedicated Marsh answer on this team.

Offensive Necro is ez money for Slowbro, but the defensive set with Toxic + Sunsteel Strike is quite annoying to deal with. Slowbro hates being statused, and obviously you can't go to Florges and Heal Bell right away in front of a Necro. Also, Lati cannot defog on it. If you find out it's defensive, your best bet is to keep switching to Amoonguss and force them to burn all their Sunsteel Strike PP, at which point Florges/Muk/Gus will wall it.

Physical Yveltal with Knock Off is really annoying for this team, considering that our mega is a psychic-type and everything else is holding av/lefties. Luckily that set's not too common.

Steel-types like Ferrothorn/Mega Sciz/Genesect that don't really care about Foul Play are hard to break. Luckily, these Pokemon aren't as common in Ubers as they are in OU. For the former, try getting a getting a scald burn then knocking it with muk (although no good player will let you do this). For the latter two, Gus should be able to tank their hits to an extent.

Naganadel is very threatening, its a special attacker that cannot be handled by our go-to special walls in Gus/Florges as it has access to supereffective coverage against both of them. It does a crapton to even Muk, which has trouble actually damaging it. This is one of the reasons I have Clear Smog over Poison Jab on Muk. Try not to let it get free setup opportunities, such as on Slowbro or a reduced spatk Lati.

Cool Team !

As those short comments usually get deleted, i want to post a full rating which is not worth reading i feel :-)

I think you have found multiple sets of the UU-Meta that can compete in Ubers and the synergie between them is really strong.

Muk Latias and Slowbro are pretty established and used on many teams nowadays. (Latias as Defog against necrozma/pdon) slowbro also checking necrozma/pdon and muk as Pursuit trap like in the dual trap stall at : https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/usm-sample-teams-submissions-open.3639330/

As your opponent does not know what your other mons are doing you will get many surprise OHKOs. Usually i would recommend using blissey, but as it lowers the surprise factor it may be only stronger on paper. ^^

Best regards & keep building those awesome teams

A really interesting idea to be sure, although I can see this team get severely pressured by boosted up Ultra Necrozma (Swords Dance, Rock Polish, even both), or even just Necrozma-Dusk-Mane, since that can get rid of your Florges with ease. Steel types are very prominent at the moment and I don't really see your team handling them properly if you consider facing 5 more threats.
That however isn't meant as criticism, I absolutely love the team!
