vBulletin...

Have any of you heard about the recent controversies regarding Internet Brands' (they bought out Jelsoft a while back) decision to change vBulletin's pricing scheme? It has made many paying vB licensees angry, and some of those customers have been banned from the vbulletin.com support forums and even vbulletin.org (mods site) for discussing that matter: http://www.channelregister.co.uk/2009/10/28/vbulletin_controversy/

Lately, these angry customers have been converting over to competing products, such as Invision Power Board, and even free alternatives like MyBB and SMF.

Also consider looking at vbtruth.com for more information about this.

I'm wondering if Smogon should follow suit, and jump ship?

The Stallmanite part of me says the complaining customers are getting their just desserts for using non-Free (as in freedom) software. They should have known all along vBulletin could have done this.
