Venomous Sweepers

This is my first OU rmt.

This team started when i was on Smogon, looking at leads I'd never used. Roserade stood out, and after reading tons of RMT's saying it was a great lead, i was sold.

About every team has one of the "Dragons" and I really don't like Metagross/ Salamence. Dragonite just worked right in.

Now I had a Obvious weakness to Ice, so i need a fire. At first I was thinking Infernape but he seemed kinda fragile. My team was going towards more of a "Tankish offense". Heatran is a great speedy sweeper, and can usually take out 1-3 pokes every time because of explosion.

Now I had a lead, a dragon, and a sweeper. Looking at my types, i decided i need an electric or a ground immunity to take ground attacks aimed at Heatran. At first I was thinking Jolteon, but he was also to fragile to get a spot. I said to myself "no, Zapdos is only good as a lead"! Then I looked into him and found he was just what i needed a Tankish hard hitting, ground immunity.

Now my team was looking pretty snazzy. Then I began to worry if my teams major weakness to rocks would be a problem. So i needed a Rapin spinner who was also pretty defensive. I went looking and narrowed it down to Fortress, Starmie, and Tentecruel. Starmie was the best choice because of type and it's Style

Finally my team was almost done. I wanted a electric immunity and choose Mamoswine because of previous teams, and the ability to have a Priority move.
Now lets have an Indepth look:

410.png

Roserade(Thorn) (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Natural Cure
EV's: 4 HP/252 Spe/252 SpA
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
~Hidden Power [Fire]
~Leaf Storm
~Sleep Powder
~Toxic Spikes
I always wanted to try a Roserade as a lead, and I'd tried most of the others. It's the standard Sleep set. I always try to put them to sleep, and set up my Toxic spikes. I used HP fire over HP ice because of Metagross leads, Scizors that switch in.

Top 10 November Leads
1. Azelf
482.png
- I usually go with sleep powder. Because they usually end up using psychic or fire blast. Then proceed to set up my toxic spikes and hit them with leafstorm. I lose Roserade about 50% when I'm Vs. a Azelf.
2. Metagross
376.png
- Against Metagross I use HP Fire and try to KO it with that because they usually run Lum Berry.
3. Swampert
260.png
- Leaf Storm. Sometimes i'll put them to sleep first, set up spikes, then leafstorm.
4. Aerodactyl
142.png
- They are faster so I usually Leaf Storm to ruin Sash. Then KO with HP Fire.
5. Jirachi
385.png
- I just HP fire it to death. Sometimes i get tricked into a scarf, which i like. If I i do get tricked, I kill it, then switch and Roserade becomes a revenge killer.
6. Infernape
392.png
- It uses fake out, i switch into Mamo.
7. Roserade
407.png
- I HP Fire.
8. Heatran
485.png
- I switch out to Mamo.
9. Smeargle
235.png
- Put it to sleep, set up, kill it.
10. Hippowdon
450.png
- Leaf Storm and set up.

Sync with the Rest of my Team.
Fire goes to Heatran
Psychic goes to well anyone really
Ground Goes to Starmie
Ice goes to Heatran

Dragonite(Barney) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 224 HP/80 Atk/200 Spe
Adamant (+Atk, -SpA)
~Dragon Claw
~Dragon Dance
~Outrage/ Heal Bell
~Roost

I love Dragonite. This set works great. I usually switch into a wall like blissey, start dragon dancing, roost my health back to normal, then Dragon claw/outrage sweep their whole team. I was thinking about switching Outrage for Heal Bell because Thunder wave is a thing that really hurts my sweepers like: Heatran, and Starmie.

Ice goes to Heatran

Heatran(Elmo) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 Atk/252 Spe/252 SpA
Naive (+Spd, -SpD)
~Earth Power
~Flamethrower
~Explosion
~HP Ice

This guy is a great Revenge killer. I used HP ice because my team is rather weak to dragons. One of the biggest threats to my team now is Latios, and when i first started playing with this team she would sweep me, now i immediatly switch into Heatran and Explode. He's a great fast member to this team.

Ground goes to Starmie
Water goes to Zapdos

Zapdos(Big Bird) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 Hp/252 Spe/252 SpA
Bold (+Def, -Atk)
~ThunderBolt
~Heat Wave
~Roost
~HP Grass

At first I was thinking to myself "Zapdos is only good as a lead, and you already have a lead"! But then I looked into it and found he was just what this team needed. He gave electric a strength against water and flying, he was bulky enough to take a few hits, and he has a ground immunity! He's been really useful against many things like Empoleon and Kingdra.

Ice goes to Heatran
Rock goes to Starmie

Starmie(TreeTop) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 136 Hp/156 Def/216 Spe
Timid (+Spe, -Atk)
~ThunderBolt
~Surf
~Recover
~Rapid Spin

Looking at the Rest of my team, I decided i needed a rapid spinner. I also need a water type, so i came down to Tentecruel or Starmie. I choose Starmie because my teams a Bulky offensive team and he fits that slot perfectly. His main jobs is to get rid of rocks on the field so that Heatran, and Zapdos can do their jobs effectively. He's also a nice switch from Roserade into a Infernape, and Mamoswine.

Electric goes to Mamoswine
Bug Goes to Heatran
Grass goes to Heatran, or Roserade

478.png

Mamoswine(Swine) @ Life Orb
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 4 Hp/252 Spe/252 Atk
Adamant (+Atk, -SpA)
~Ice Shard
~Earthquake
~Stone Edge
~Superpower/ Ice Fang/ Stealth Rock

My team was almost complete so i looked back at it and saw what I was missing. I realized I was had nothing to really take down dragons, i had no electric type immunity, and i had no priority moves. Who could do this? MAMOSWINE! He's got great typing, a priority move, and can set up stealth Rock. The I don't really like Superpower because of the stat loss, and Ice fang isn't that much more powerful than Ice Shard, AND he could set up stealth Rock. I really need you guys opinions on that one.

Fire goes to Starmie
Fighting Goes to Starmie

This team has gotten me pretty good Win/loss ratio's and I really think it's the best team i've made. Hope you guys liked it, please comment and leave anything you think could make my team better!

Thanks In Advance!:toast:

Well first of all you should decide what kind of Zapdos set you want. If you're going offensive you shouldnt be using a bold nature, and if you're going defensive you shouldn't be using that ev spread. 2nd of all your team can't really take advantage of toxic spikes right now. I think you should completely change your team by structuring it around a bulky set up sweeper like suicune or empoleon that can use toxic spikes to stall out bulky waters/special walls

Just a few quick notes.

I am still deciding how exactly you stop Tyranitar. You have no Pokemon that is capable of easily switching in, taking little damage and immediately threatening Tyranitar with one of its attacks. Your Starmie coming in does not count by the way since it can't take Crunch of T-Tar and Surf would most likely 3HKO T-Tar (Due to sandstorm).

I am wondering why you have a bold nature and yet you EV it in SPA and SPE. If you want a physically defensive Zapdos, then go with 248 HP / 228 Def / 32 Spe. You lose power, but you get a proper physically defensive Zapdos.

I suggest also for Dragonite, losing Outrage and putting Fire Punch in its place. Heal Bell is a nice move, but Dragonite can't afford the time to use it if its a DDer.

As for Mamoswine, you definately need Stealth Rocks in that last place.

well, having superpower WAS my only way of taking down tyranitar, and i usually had to revenge kill to kill it. The zapdos is working fine the way it is.

So i needed a Rapin spinner who was also pretty defensive. I went looking and narrowed it down to Fortress, Starmie, and Tentecruel. Starmie was the best choice because of type and it's Style.

you obviously have no idea what your talking about. starmie has base 85 Def and SpD, making it fairly frail. Tentacruel can fit the role you wanted a bit better IMO, since it has a higher HP base as well as SpD, but only downside is it has less Def, but it still is more defensive. With a base SpD and HP that many defensive pokemon would die for, it can easily concentrate less EV's on the special spectrum and focus more on the phys spectrum.

anyways, this team is a team that tyranitar and lucario would absolutely LOVE to play with. you need scizor over mamoswine IMO. you dont need an electric immunity as much as a tyranitar counter. if you want an electric absorber, consider flygon over dragonite. dragonite just sucks. period.

EDIT: dammit...
