Venusaur

I've been running Leaf Storm/Sludge Bomb/Sleep Powder/Earthquake on Shoddy with Timid and 56/52/0/200/200/0 as an EV spread as my lead with Choice Scarf.

It's working VERY well and lets me get the jump on a lot of folks. I've got a lot of "How the Hell is that faster than X?" quotes.

That spread and Leaf Storm lets me pop in and assassinate a surprising number of Pokes too. Earthquake is total filler and a waste. If I were more patient I'd breed up HP Electric as it'd let me do reliable damage to Bulkydos. According to MetalKid's calc, a "Perfect" HP Electric with 200 SP.Atk EV's will do 64-77%. That's a 2hko and after the Dragon Dance you're still faster.

If I did have an HP Electric option, I'd toss the 52 Attack EV's over to HP probably for bulkyness. At 200 Sp.Atk EV's Leaf Storm OHKO's or 2HKO's what I need it to and Sludge Bomb drops those cursed Breloom leads.

I HATE Breloom.

Drop me a PM and I'll breed you up a male with Leaf Storm or trade you my Tortegga I've used to breed my Venusaur.

Im really liking your set, but Sludge Bomb im still iffy on, is it really all that worth it just for breloom?... Im going to be breeding for HP electric, so do you think that would be better than EQ or Sludgebomb.

EDIT:

Nevermind on the seed bomb idea, Blissey worries me though

Hello,

My knee jerk reaction is YES. However, let me instead say this:

Brelom is the 20th most used lead from February. Unlike a lot of popular leads, ScarfSaur can't just use a fast Sleep Powder and move on to a counter as Brelom is typically immune to sleep (ToxicOrb FTW). That means I typcially like to have a lead that can hurt of kill Brelom. He isn't that Bulky, but switching away means you play his game.

Sludgebomb does that.

Past that, you don't really need that attack. It's worked out for me from time to time, but isn't really necessary.

Not... quite. You actually have a chance on the VERY FIRST turn, but obviously you must be 1: Faster and 2: Hit. It's actually a nifty way to cancel the idea of Toxic Orb... for the most part. Earthquake hits Heatran at least, which would otherwise just laugh at you for the most part. I still think Sludge Bomb is iffy, even Hidden Power Fire would be decent to consider. However, my opinion here.

I just played a breloom, fucking hate tyhose things so much, that alone sold me on sludge bomb. and the 25% resist to seed bomb and decent resist to focus punch make it a solid counter, the switch in can be dangerous tho.

HP fire leaves it walled easily IMO, and mixape packs a grass and fire attack if your looking for that combo

Really? You can sleep Breloom right out of the gate?

I did not know that. That seriously changes the game as ScarfSaur is faster and has a 75% accuracy. That might mean you don't need Sludgebomb after all.

I still kinda like that move as its got decent power. But you might not need it now.

Oh man, ive been running Giga Drain on myne... I LOVE it. You have no idea how many times its saved me, for example twice on shoddy today:

Dugtrio aerial aces for 60%, I giga drain, just enough to get another turn in, and I get the ohko

Starmie ice beams for ~70%, I giga drain and get full hp recovery, as if I was untouched. Its also allowed me to beat vaporeons who think they cant ice beam while I get big damage and big recovery. I suggest you try it, it can be game changing.

Giga Drain, now having enough PP to have us not worry about it running out is okay, but I think Energy Ball, Leaf Storm and even HP Grass are better. HP Grass is good because you can use it on Hippowdon or something, they think it can't be Grass because you'd use Energy Ball or something otherwize, so they presume it's Ice. Then they swtich into their Thick Fat Walrein or whatever, and you use HP Grass again and shock your opponent to their inner core! This only really works with Choice Specs Venusaur ofcourse.
