So,
Everyone knows what the Meta is gonna be for 2010.
It's gonna be:
Kyogre/Rain
Kyogre/Rain
Kyogre/Rain
Kyogre/Rain
Groudon/Sun
Kyogre/Rain
Trick Room
Kyogre/Rain
Abomasnow/Hail
Kyogre/Rain
Rogue
I decided to make a team that can counteract all the weather and trick rooms,
but then end up sweeping as a Rain Team.
Here Goes:
Team Name: If you Can't Beat 'Em, Join 'Em
Rayquaza @ Yache Berry (Maybe Band or Lum)
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 6 Hp / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
ExtremeSpeed
Dragon Claw
Earthquake
Protect
Rayquaza has a few things going for it.
For one, It eliminates all weather, giving pure weather teams a huge problem. That also means that attacks such as thunder and blizzard aren't 100% accurate anymore. Dragon Claw takes out all the dragons, barring defensive giratina and dialga. Extremespeed cripples smeargles, and any other focus sasher or trick room team. Earthquake Nails Dialga, and with quazas high atk stat, can 2hko most pokemon. Protect is there for obvious reasons, (explosion, an apparent ice shard etc). The berry is there for a little bit of protection from blizzard, but I might switch it for band, and replace protect with overheat (to kill zongs). Another Option would be lum berry, to destroy void smeargles.
It counters:
All Dragons,
Sashers,
and Weather Pokemon
Toxicroak @ Focus Sash
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Nature: Adamant
- Fake Out
- Night Slash/Sucker Pwnch
- Low Kick/Cross Chop
- Taunt/Protect
Ahh, my only defense against gengar and dusknoir. First turn Fake out smeargle, finish it off with quazas xtremespeed. At first I had Infernape in this spot, but I couldn't defeat ghosts, and the synergy with kyogre and opposing rain teams is too good to ignore. Night Slash is to take out TRing dusknoirs and other passive ghosts, although i might switch it for pwnch if playtesting shows it to be better. Low Kick is another nice attack, has better accuracy than chop, but I might switch that because of the damage output. Taunt is for any other passive pokes I see. Protect could be used for quazas EQ mindgames.
It Counters:
The Ghosts,
The TR'ers,
Most Passive Pokemon,
and heavyweights (to a point)
DoomOgre @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Sp Atk / 252 Spe
Nature: Modest
- Water Spout
- Thunder
- Ice Beam
- Ancientpower/Hyrdo Pump
Oh boy, haven't We all seen this before? It's the standard scarfogre, comes in late game to set up water, and sweeps with its buddy Kingdra. Thunder, Beam, and Power allows for lot's of type coverage, giving me another way to defeat shedinja and other pokemon that would be difficult to kill. Other than that though there isn't much to say. This things Spout Can destroy everything.
It Counters:
Ogres,
Groudouns,
Shedinjas,
Lugias,
Ho-ohs,
and most Dragons
Kingdra @ Life Orb/Haban Berry
Nature: Modest
EV's: 6 HP/252 Sp. Attack/252 Spe
Ability: Swift Swim
~ Protect
~ Surf / Hydro Pump
~ Draco Meteor
~ Toxic
Kindgra seemed Orges best support for the endgame. With my many ways of stopping TR's I decided to go all out on the speed. Toxic ohkos sheddy (provided it hits, may switch out if too big of a risk), Meteor kills dragons, and anything else which doesnt resist it. Please note that two meteors does more than two pulses, so I probably wont switch that. Surf offers for some combos if croak is still alive, and protect is there to stop xplosions, and for mindgames.
It Counters:
Sheddys,
Ho-oh,
The Dragons,
Groudon
Note, that where there are // the first one is my choice, but I am still debating it, and these pokemon's ivs are perfect or "near" Perfect, thanks to emerald and platinum rng hacks.
The strategy is to stop the common threats of weather and TR, and from there just beatstick it out.
The team works well, but obviously things can be improved, I ask that you offer any advice you can, and if you found a specific team that beats me, please let me know. I plan on going to my regionals with this team, and feel pretty bad because last year I got ko'ed round because of double crit xplosion. xD. So this year I must of a perfect team! Thanks for your help!
I'll develop the strategy more as time goes on.
