skuntank got two great buffs this generation in nasty plot and corrosive gas. both + dual stabs makes for a great wallbreaking set, allowing it to boost up to respectable levels and to remove opponents' pesky items like eviolite, leftovers, and heavy-duty boots. taunt is another great option over corrosive gas, turning skuntank into a key stallbreaker. fire blast is also viable and was great in metas with ferroseed and alolan sandslash, but still has some merit in handling bulky steels a bit more reliably. i personally like running 20 hp to take advantage of its massive base 103 hp stat and hit a recovery number, but figured i'd make the set as standard as possible
despite being pushed back a day this week, the submission phase will still be ending friday, march 4th at 11:59 pm gmt -5. good luck to all participants!

a zu fave: big pilo is a counter to skuntank. its typing + ability is great at absorbing whatever move skuntank can throw out. off of max attack eq always ohkos 20/0 bulk skuntank reliably. what makes piloswine stand out in this role is its ability to hit flying types hard with its stab ice attacks and its handy priority in ice shard.

You can’t go wrong with offensively checking standard Skuntank with Cinccino. Aside from Accelgor, Alolan Persian (which is a speed tie), and the obscure Boltund, Cinccino outspeeds nearly all of ZU and can threaten Skuntank out with an OHKO. The best Skuntank can try to catch it off guard with the rare Sucker Punch or wait for Tail Slap to miss. To make things even worse, Cinccino has enough bulk to not be OHKOed by any attacks unless it gets crit by Sludge Bomb + gets poisoned + switches into rocks.

once considered by many, myself included, to be too much for the zu metagame, alcremie has proven itself to be a top-tier mon. its fairy typing, colorful movepool allowing for wide set variety, huge special attack and special defense stats, and two great abilities in sweet veil and aroma veil let this mon fill a number of niches within the tier. this set in particular relies on its defensive capabilities to set up calm minds, deal massive damage with dazzling gleam, heal up, and either target steels or cure itself and its teammates of status conditions. alcremie is able to answer a plethora of mons in the tier, such as gurdurr, sawk, malamar, liepard, alolan persian, thievul, altaria, and so many, many more. this set has seen the most usage, though it has been known to run double dance stored power and even offensive sets. how will you put a stop to alcremie this week?
