Sorry for the double post, but I have a submission of my own this week!

Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Download
Level: 50
EVs: 244 HP / 12 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Return / Frustration / Facade
- Ice Beam
- Shadow Ball / Toxic
- Recover

Ever since Mega Blaziken came out, it became popular on a lot of teams, which make P2's life as a Physical wall worse. However, it's still a fantastic Special wall, capable of dealing with not only Mega Zard Y, but also Tapu Koko, non-Specs Tapu Lele, Mega Gengar, Volcarona, Greninja and Primarina.

252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Flamethrower vs. 244 HP / 252+ SpD Eviolite Porygon2 in Sun: 67-81 (35 - 42.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Fire Blast vs. 244 HP / 252+ SpD Eviolite Porygon2 in Sun: 84-99 (43.9 - 51.8%) -- 9.4% chance to 2HKO
252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Overheat vs. 244 HP / 252+ SpD Eviolite Porygon2 in Sun: 99-117 (51.8 - 61.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Focus Blast vs. 244 HP / 252+ SpD Eviolite Porygon2: 80-96 (41.8 - 50.2%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO

0 Atk Porygon2 Return vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Charizard Y: 58-70 (37.9 - 45.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
+1 0 Atk Porygon2 Return vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Charizard Y: 88-105 (57.5 - 68.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Am I the only one who thinks VotW-ing Mega Charizard Y and not just Charizard in general is questionable?

Mega Charizard X is the more common build and by the time you figure out which one it is, you might have already piloted your team into a losing situation with half of the checks suggested so far.
Two possible Megas also make the initial switchin much trickier than just 'throw in something that can withstand the attacks of Mega Charizard Y and punish it'.

------------------------

Submission: Mega Altaria

Altaria @ Altarianite
Ability: Cloud Nine
Level: 50
EVs: 244 HP / 28 Atk / 28 Def / 116 SpD / 92 Spe
Impish Nature
IVs: 0 SpA
- Return / Facade
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance
- Roost

Mega Evolving Altaria early or leading with it makes it a much more effective Charizard check because Altaria does not really want to take attacks from Charizard variants on a switchin if it is still in its baseform.

Cloud Nine is useful against Mega Charizard Y if you can't avoid switching in before you had a chance to Mega Evolve.

Return is for power but Facade counters Will-O-Wisp Charizard variants harder.
Earthquake provides general coverage next to the Fairy-type STAB and hits Mega Charizard X harder than Pixilate Return but doesn't do anything against Mega Charizard Y.
Dragon Dance allows you to set up on Charizard and start your own sweep while Roost allows you to stay alive during boosting and pivot into Charizard multiple times if you have to.

The special bulk ensures that Hidden Power Ice from Modest Mega Charizard Y cannot 2HKO Mega Altaria.
Flamethrower followed by Overheat coming from Modest Mega Charizard Y in the sun would need two max rolls to 2HKO Altaria and you could always Dragon Dance on the Flamethrower and Roost before the Overheat to survive.
Sun-boosted Fire Blast coming from Modest Mega Charizard Y needs to hit two max rolls for a 2HKO and you could always Dragon Dance on the first Fire Blast and Roost before the second while fishing for a miss.
The Speed EVs allow you to outspeed unboosted 252+ Charizard variants after a Dragon Dance (168 > 167) which would be helpful against Swords Dance Charizard variants.
(You'd also outspeed Pheromosa at +2 for what it's worth.)
28 Attack EVs allow you to OHKO uninvested Mega Charizard X after two Dragon Dances.
The rest, including the nature, goes into physical bulk to take those hits better and because investing it into Attack doesn't improve any KOs as far as I can tell.

Offensive Calcs

+1 28 Atk Mega Altaria Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Charizard X: 116-138 (75.8 - 90.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
(+1 Earthquake is enough to put Adamant Mega Charizard X into KO range from +2 Flare Blitz recoil.)
+2 28 Atk Mega Altaria Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Charizard X: 154-182 (100.6 - 118.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+1 28 Atk Pixilate Mega Altaria Return vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Charizard Y: 69-82 (45 - 53.5%) -- 41% chance to 2HKO
+2 28 Atk Pixilate Mega Altaria Return vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Charizard Y: 93-110 (60.7 - 71.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

+2 252+ Atk Mega Charizard X Earthquake vs. 244 HP / 28+ Def Mega Altaria: 102-121 (56.3 - 66.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ SpA Mega Charizard Y Hidden Power Ice vs. 244 HP / 116 SpD Mega Altaria: 76-90 (41.9 - 49.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ SpA Mega Charizard Y Flamethrower vs. 244 HP / 116 SpD Mega Altaria in Sun: 63-75 (34.8 - 41.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ SpA Mega Charizard Y Fire Blast vs. 244 HP / 116 SpD Mega Altaria in Sun: 78-92 (43 - 50.8%) -- 2.7% chance to 2HKO
252+ SpA Mega Charizard Y Overheat vs. 244 HP / 116 SpD Mega Altaria in Sun: 91-108 (50.2 - 59.6%)

PS: Dragon Claw would be useful for the Charizard matchups but is outclassed by Pixilate attacks in pretty much every other scenario.
Running it in combination with a Pixilate attack would be highly redundant coverage and you would miss Earthquake.

There are probably better builds for this purpose. I calced most of it in ~15 minutes.

I see your point, however, Mega Charizard X was already featured on the old VoTW thread, and VoTW'ing both Zards could bring some redundancy regarding that.

Tough call between Nihilego and M-Altaria, but I'm going with Solerme's Nihilego. Love me some Altaria, but Nihilego handles both versions of MegaZard as well and far more cleanly than Mega Fluffy does.

252 SpA Nihilego Power Gem vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Mega Charizard X: 152-182 (99.3 - 118.9%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Nihilego Power Gem vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Mega Charizard Y: 240-288 (156.8 - 188.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

So yeah.

For me it's between Scarf Nihilego and Scarf Garchomp.
One is not crippled by a potential burn on the switch, the other has Rough Skin to make OHKOs easier.
I don't think that running Choice Scarf Stealth Rock is good teambuilding, but there is no denying that having it is better than not having it when it comes to Charizard matchups.
This is why I'm voting for Solerme's Nihilego. (I would have voted for Garchomp if there was Stealth Rock slashed somewhere.)

I really would really like to vote for the pizzamon, though being outsped by Char and always being 2hkod by focus blast hurts too much
I was actually debating between p2 and mega altaria, because both are not 2hkod by SE moves and can deal with it in 1vs1.
But in the end i'm going with p2, since mega altaria can take up to 90% (with that spread) from an HP Ice if switching in without being mega evolved

We all know that soLerme's nihilego is going to win because it's the best. It probably wasn't strictly necessary to do a zard y VOTW seeing as how most people were focusing on checking / countering both forms during the zard x VOTW, but that's ok.

E: I actually Intended to make an actual description for heatran, but didn't have time.

Victim of the Week #30 - Gyarados / Mega Gyarados

Next up, we have a pretty underrated mon in my opinion. Gyarados can use both its standard form and its Mega Evolution. Normal Gyarados can use defensive sets coupled with Intimidate to check physical attackers, or it can use its free item slot to run offensive Z-Move sets. While Mega Gyarados isn't a beast like Salamence, Mold Breaker is still a great ability, and acess to Taunt can make it harder for slower and defensive teams to break. 155 base attack and 90/109/135 defenses are not to be taken lightly. So, how do you deal with this mon?

Submissions are open and will be closed in 4 days from now. Good luck everyone!

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet / Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 180 Def / 76 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Power Whip
- Gyro Ball
- Leech Seed
- Protect / Rocks or Spikes

Damn Gyarados is one of those Pokemon that's a real pain to stop once it gets going, as few things can outright wall it. And speaking of outright walling it, Ferrothorn still takes the cake at walling Water types of BSS.

Premise here is simple, try to use Leech Seed on turn 1 to pressure the Gyarados user to either switch out, or stay in and potentially lose Gyarados to a Power Whip or two.

That's not counting Iron Barbs damage racking up if they use Crunch or Ice Fang as well.

Also this accounts for Gyarados as Mega since a whopping 60% of them are Mega, and the rest are mostly fatter, or Flyinium variants.

252 Atk Mold Breaker Gyarados-Mega Crunch vs. 252 HP / 180+ Def Ferrothorn: 51-60 (28.1 - 33.1%) -- 83.8% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

+2 252 Atk Mold Breaker Gyarados-Mega Crunch vs. 252 HP / 180+ Def Ferrothorn: 99-117 (54.6 - 64.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Also keep in mind not a lot of Gyarados run Crunch, and morely prefer EQ.

Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 244 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA / 4 SpD / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
- Ice Beam
- Discharge / Foul Play / Shadow Ball
- Recover
- Thunder Wave / Toxic / TR

P2 is the bulkiest mon of BSS and can handle Gyarados easily. Even boosted the leviathan doesn't damage the artificial mon a lot and Taunt is a wasted turn due to Electric coverage. I don't think more explanation is needed.

A combination of Stealth Rock + Nature's Madness + Moonblast will KO most regular Gyarados. They need significant investment to live it.

If you want to look for the biggest check to Gyarados, there is none more suited than Tapu Fini. Mega Dos has nothing on you, as you resist both STABs, and take pitiful damage from coverage, living the EQ and using Haze to remove boosts. Add in the Z-Haze, and things are going to get dangerous. Nature's Madness is going to hit both Gyarados hard, and punish switches. Gyarados is also one of those Pokemon that lack major health regen. You may find the rarer bulky support gyarados, but you take them down better.

Though watch out for the rare Z-Bounce Gyarados, as they will OHKO you at +2 and above.

Peeps, look at usage stats. Flyinium Z sets are predictable if Gyarados doesn't mega evo (unless saving Intimidate or something), and most regular dos are Rocky Helmet as TFA mentioned.
This guy can check Gyarados when it is at +2 or even +3 if it has taken some prior damage. It can rather set up Bulk Up on its face while Gyarados slowly kills itself by touching Rocky Helmet.

Mega Altaria works well against Gyarados thanks to its good bulk and access to Cotton Guard. Once you mega evolve and start boosting up Gyarados can't break through, while Altaria can 2HKO Mega Gyarados or 3HKO regular Gyarados with Hyper Voice in return. A Special-attacking set is used so you don't have to deal with Intimidate drops or Rocky Helmet damage. Fire Blast lets you hit Steel-types, but Heal Bell is useful to prevent Altaria from Toxic poisoning.

After 2 Cotton Guard boosts, Mega-Alt can wall pretty much every physical attacker in the game, but it should watch out for Fairy- and Steel-types, since it has trouble getting up boosts against them.

Banned deucer.
Voting for Jhon's Tapu Koko because Mega Gyarados usually can't boost beyond +2 because BSS's offensive nature of the metagame keeps it from dragon dancing forever even if gyara has intimidate and stuff. Also Scarf Koko isn't just a meme, i loved that set prior to bank release by giving a surprise to scarf chomp, hydreigon, and others.
