Zapdos [Leftovers]
Ability: Static
Nature: Bold
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 spd
- Discharge
- Hidden Power Ice
- Roost
- Heat Wave/Toxic

If we're talking about the standard set of DDance, Zapdos completely walls it thanks to virtue of its typing, ability, and move set.
Calcs: +1 252 Atk Aerilate Salamence-Mega Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Zapdos: 80-94 (40.6 - 47.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
4 SpA Zapdos Hidden Power Ice vs. 44 HP / 0 SpD Salamence-Mega: 124-148 (70.4 - 84%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

The only way for Salamence to beat Zapdos is Dragon Claw or Outrage, but even with those, it has to worry about Static, which has a 51% chance of paralyzing Salamence and ruining its sweep.
You might want some SpA investment on that set if your calc has 4 SpA...

This is another one of my Prankster Pokemon ideas and this Klefki utility set is no exception.

Klefki @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Spikes
- Thunder Wave
- Dazzling Gleam
- Magnet Rise / Heal Block

Steel/Fairy is a great defensive typing, being able to resist both of mence's STABs, though it will be damaged heavily by Earthquake if it tries to switch in. Prankster is an exceptional ability, and even more devastating when you add Thunder Wave into the mix, as that will cripple mence before it's had the chance to set up. Spikes is a useful entry hazard and forces Defoggers and spinners to come on the field. Dazzling Gleam is the only attacking move on the set. Yes, it is weak but at least is does super-effective damage on mence. It also hits on mence's weaker Special Defense stat and has perfect accuracy, unlike Play Rough. Magnet Rise is useful for any mence carrying Earthquake and any other Ground-types like Garchomp, Landorus & Nidoking. Heal Block could also be used in the last slot to prevent mence from recovering health with Roost.

Here're the calcs:
0 SpA Klefki Dazzling Gleam vs. 44 HP / 0 SpD Salamence-Mega: 156-186 (45.6 - 54.3%) -- 47.3% chance to 2HKO

252+ Atk Salamence-Mega Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Klefki: 200-236 (62.8 - 74.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Aerilate Salamence-Mega Facade (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Klefki: 125-147 (39.3 - 46.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Aerilate Salamence-Mega Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Klefki: 107-126 (33.6 - 39.6%) -- 28.4% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

@ Assault Vest
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 20 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 228 SpD / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Blast
- Ice Punch
- Horn Drill

It resist Mega Mence's Aerilate STABs, that isn't even able to 2HKO it with none of its attacks.
Adamant Mence: 252+ Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Double-Edge vs. 20 HP / 4 Def Rhyperior: 58-69 (30 - 35.7%) -- 30.7% chance to 3HKO
Adamant Mence: 252+ Atk Mega Salamence Earthquake vs. 20 HP / 4 Def Solid Rock Rhyperior: 81-96 (41.9 - 49.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
Mixed Rash Mence: 252 Atk Mega Salamence Earthquake vs. 20 HP / 4 Def Solid Rock Rhyperior: 75-88 (38.8 - 45.5%) -- 4HKO with the SpA drop
Mixed Rash Mence: 252+ SpA Aerilate Mega Salamence Hyper Voice vs. 20 HP / 228 SpD Assault Vest Rhyperior: 37-44 (19.1 - 22.7%) -- possible 5HKO

Hitting it hard in return with Ice Punch or Rock Blast (actually OHKOing it 9/10 times if hitting 4 times):
252+ Atk Rhyperior Rock Blast (4 hits) vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Salamence: 168-200 (98.2 - 116.9%) -- approx. 93.8% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Rhyperior Ice Punch vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Salamence: 160-192 (93.5 - 112.2%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO

Since it's not 2HKOed by none if Mence's moves it can also safely switch in and fire back.

You can use a non AV set too, being also able to threaten Mence with Stealth Rock, with max HP, max Atk and Rockium-Z, always OHKOing with Z-Stone Edge even at -1 and being able to have almost 60% chances to survive to even a +3 Earthquake.
+3 252+ Atk Mega Salamence Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Solid Rock Rhyperior: 202-238 (90.9 - 107.2%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO
+2 252+ Atk Mega Salamence Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Solid Rock Rhyperior: 160-190 (72 - 85.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Rhyperior Continental Crush (180 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Salamence: 288-338 (168.4 - 197.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
-1 252+ Atk Rhyperior Continental Crush (180 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Salamence: 188-224 (109.9 - 130.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Bonus Calc: 252+ SpA Mega Salamence Hydro Pump vs. 20 HP / 228 SpD Assault Vest Solid Rock Rhyperior: 153-180 (79.2 - 93.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Rotom-Wash @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Levitate
Level: 50
EVs: 244 HP / 196 Def / 4 SpA / 60 SpD / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch

Watch out Salamence this possessed washing machine is out to get you!

Rotom-W is a pretty good counter to Salamence mainly due to the immunity to Earthquake and resistance to Flying. Sitrus Berry is mainly to survive 2 draco meteors from mixed Salamence most of the time (6.3% chance to KO), or to avoid a 2hko from +1 Ddance. It's pretty good. The Ev's are really weird to assure that a min damage Double Edge will always do 50% damage so the berry will activate assuring that a 2hko is avoided if Salamence is at +1. It's up to personal opinion if you want to shuffle around the Ev's in SpA, SpD, and Spe to boost one of those stats but as far as Salamence is concerned SpD is more useful to invest in to help against special mence.

Calcs:
Against Ddance
252+ Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Double-Edge vs. 244 HP / 196+ Def Rotom-W: 52-62 (33.3 - 39.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Facade vs. 244 HP / 196+ Def Rotom-W: 30-36 (19.2 - 23%) -- possible 5HKO
After a Boost
+1 252+ Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Double-Edge vs. 244 HP / 196+ Def Rotom-W: 78-93 (50 - 59.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 252+ Atk Mega Salamence Stone Edge vs. 244 HP / 196+ Def Rotom-W: 73-87 (46.7 - 55.7%) -- 76.2% chance to 2HKO

Against Mixed

252+ SpA Mega Salamence Draco Meteor vs. 244 HP / 60 SpD Rotom-W: 103-123 (66 - 78.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
-2 252+ SpA Mega Salamence Draco Meteor vs. 244 HP / 60 SpD Rotom-W: 51-61 (32.6 - 39.1%) -- 99.5% chance to 3HKO
252+ SpA Mega Salamence Fire Blast vs. 244 HP / 60 SpD Rotom-W: 29-34 (18.5 - 21.7%) -- possible 5HKO
252+ SpA Aerilate Mega Salamence Hyper Voice vs. 244 HP / 60 SpD Rotom-W: 42-51 (26.9 - 32.6%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
4 Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Double-Edge vs. 244 HP / 196+ Def Rotom-W: 40-48 (25.6 - 30.7%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
edit:
Rotom's HP ice
4 SpA Rotom-W Hidden Power Ice vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Salamence: 108-128 (63.1 - 74.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Mamoswine @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Thick Fat
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Roar
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard

pretty cool answer to mence. ice shard 2hkos and you can take a +1 DE. helmet + DE recoil also does an assload. rocks & roar are nice if you predict them to switch out when you bring this in. yeah, mamo's a cool mon if you want something on your team to deal with elecs too.

Hippowdon @ Rocky helmet / Sitrus berry
Impish Nature
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Atk
- Yawn
- Whirlwind
- Stealth Rock
- Ice fang/Rock tomb

Switch when salabadass comes in. Yawn the angrymence to guarentee a sleep. Whirlwind to throw mence's doll through the window. If salamences comes back to the house with its doll again, geez, BAH, POW, Stealth rock will hurt the head while a rock tomb will wound his knees, or just cool down him with a sweet-cold-bite from ice fang. Just repeat the process till ensure the success. This also allows you to bring your own gang, setup and gg ez mence if it packs a roost set.

Cofagrigus @ Icium Z
Ability: Mummy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Will-O-Wisp / Toxic
- Haze
- Destiny Bond / Pain Split

Cofagrigus works great against MegaMence thanks to Mummy, being able to make it lose its most reliable STAB. Will-O-Wisp lets Cofagrigus be able to cripple Dragon Dance sets, while Toxic can be used to beat bulkier sets and give it an easier time against Salamences that carry Roost. Haze is used to remove any Dragon Dance boosts, so Cofagrigus can survive longer, and provides a good recovery option with Z-Haze. Hidden Power Ice lets Cofagrigus be able to actually deal damage against Salamence, 2HKOing the standard Dragon Dance and Mixed sets. Finally, Destiny Bond can take out Salamence if things look grim, as well as potentially nabbing another KO when Cofagrigus's time is up, while Pain Split gives Cofagrigus another way to restore health. This set works better against the Dragon Dance set because of Mummy, since it gets 2HKOed by Draco Meteor on the Mixed set.

Dragon Dance
252+ Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Cofagrigus: 82-97 (49.6 - 58.7%) -- 98.4% chance to 2HKO
+1 252+ Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Cofagrigus: 123-145 (74.5 - 87.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 252+ Atk Mega Salamence Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Cofagrigus: 57-68 (34.5 - 41.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
+2 252+ Atk Mega Salamence Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Cofagrigus: 76-90 (46 - 54.5%) -- 57.8% chance to 2HKO

Mixed Mence
252+ SpA Mega Salamence Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Cofagrigus: 111-132 (67.2 - 80%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Mega Salamence Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Cofagrigus: 63-75 (38.1 - 45.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
4 Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Cofagrigus: 63-75 (38.1 - 45.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ SpA Aerilate Mega Salamence Hyper Voice vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Cofagrigus: 93-109 (56.3 - 66%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

4 SpA Cofagrigus Hidden Power Ice vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Salamence: 96-116 (56.1 - 67.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

This works best against Salamence, but I could see it being potentially useful against other physical sweepers such as Excadrill and Kartana thanks to the annoying combination of Haze + Will-O-Wisp + Mummy.

Suicune @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Rest
- Roar

Standard defensive Suicune, one of the best checks to mega mence around. Beats every variation of mence comfortably, able to come in on the dragon dance and win with Ice Beam. Double Edge recoil alone puts mence within guaranteed OHKO range. Sets that run Facade / Return over Double Edge get nicked by Rocky Helmet, giving suicune a 50% chance to OHKO with Ice Beam. Even if it doesn't OHKO, you have the option to rest / roar / ice beam again, so you can still win the 1v1 regardless

+1 252+ Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Suicune: 144-171 (69.5 - 82.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 SpA Suicune Ice Beam vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Salamence: 136-164 (79.5 - 95.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (OHKO after recoil)

+1 252+ Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Return vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Suicune: 123-145 (59.4 - 70%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 SpA Suicune Ice Beam vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Salamence: 136-164 (79.5 - 95.9%) -- (50% chance to OHKO after Rocky Helmet damage)

Submissions are now closed! There are to be no edits of your own Pokemon, nor are there to be any new submissions. A few quick things to note;
  • Voting will close on the 18/3 at 12:30pm GMT+11 (8:30pm EST 17/3), where the next Vitim Of The Week will also be announced
  • You can't vote for your own submission
  • You can only change your vote once, so think carefully before doing so
  • You can vote even if you haven't made a submission. It is expected that you vote if you did submit yourself, but not compulsory
Sorry that there's no hide for each submission, I had it ready and tried to post it but smogon wouldn't let me for some reason, so this week's voting will go without it. Also interesting to note how there are very few offensive answers to mence, most submissions took the form of a fat defensive threat. Happy voting!

Noved

I liked a lot even The Squash's idea, and i think that Cofagrigus could work (slightly) better than Mamoswine in a 1v1 situation vs Mence, but this meta is made of 3v3 where that bulky Mamo would work greatly. I was debating on giving the vote to Zapdos or Rotom-W, but SpD Facade Mence can beat them, so yeah... my vote goes to Noved

Solerme

I couldn't decide between nomming Eviolite Rhydon (to mess with Solerme) or Helmet Cofagrigus but was leaning towards Cof until it was posted above. I would have voted for it but I don't like the proposed set, Hidden Power Ice and Z-Haze seem weird, I would just use Hex + Pain Split + double status. Rhyperior is cool though, super tanky with a OHKO move and great coverage, should get a little more usage imo.

Noved

I had a hard time deciding which one should i vote for, but the threat that Mamoswine is in the meta, not only for Salamence, was the deciding factor for me.

Victim Of The Week #8 - Thundurus-Therian

For our next Victim Of The Week, we have an old friend that is come back from Pokemon Black2 and White2. Thundurus-Therian is here and it is on you find the best way to stop it! Thundurus has a good niche in this Season, the combination of Flying-type and Volt Absorb makes it able to switch in on many moves like Thunderbolt and Earthquake that are everywhere in this generation. 101 base speed is really good and 145 base Special Attack is monstrous instead. The moverpool is pretty cool too as long there are moves like Grass Knot, Psychic and Sludge Wave. Plus in this generation, it gains some good weapons with the Z-Crystals; in fact Thundurus now can count on a fighting move, All-Out Pummeling, with 195 base power; or a more powerful STAB if it has the Electrium Z. So, how do you deal with Thundurus-Therian?

Submissions are open and will close in four days from now. Best of luck everyone!

Nihilego works as a good Thundurus-T check thanks to its Rock-type STAB and surprisingly good special bulk. With a Choice Scarf it can even outspeed max speed Scarfed Thundurus-T and OHKO with Power Gem.
