Munchies (Kyurem-Black) @ Leftovers
Ability: Teravolt
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpA
Modest Nature
- Fusion Bolt
- Ice Beam
- Substitute
- Earth Power

Simple and effective Special Attacking tank that resists Water and returns nice damage to Starmie. What we have here is a sub Tank varient of Kyurem-Black that serves many purposes such as freely subbing on status users such as slowbro, taking down Heatran, Mega-Venusaur, and even working as a Rotom-Wash counter with its Substitute/Earth Power duo set. Despite the lack of speed, the meta isn't hard on it with slower Pokemon such as Landorus and Stealth Chomp more commonly seen. I've decided to max HP it so this Tank can live attacks from the much higher base sped mons while still having enough power to strike back with some STAB ice beams. All-in-All great Pokemon that works with most teams. Showtime for now is to counter Starmie! This thing eats up anything Starmie throws at it while recovering with lefties and returning a Super Effective Fusion Bolt. At times you can even sub on it to avoid getting scald burned and take on a lot more hits without your sub breaking. Just a clean hard counter that I've used many times.

Manectric @ Manectite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Volt Switch

doesn't like switching in on Starmie since its pretty frail, but can easily get in by voltturns or switching in on a weak move like Ice Beam or Rapid Spin then outspeeds and OHKOs as long as it has mega evolved

Tangrowth please.

Tangrowth as a Hard Check (Counter if no Ice Beam)

Tangrowth @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power Ice

Tangrowth can switch into most of Starmie's moves thanks to Assault Vest, and can simply Leaf Storm to easily OHKO an restore lost health with Regenerator. Tho it has to be wary of switching into Ice Beam, because an Analytic Ice Beam is a clean 2HKO.

252 SpA Life Orb Starmie Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Tangrowth: 70-83 (17.3 - 20.5%) -- possible 5HKO after Stealth Rock

Gyarados @ Gyaradosite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall / Earthquake
- Crunch
- Ice Fang / Substitute

Thanks to Mega Gyarados's typing and fantastic bulk, resisting Hydro Pump, not fearing any possible Scald burns, and being immune to Psychic, it can switch in to any of Starmie attacks with ease. From there, it can either set up a Dragon Dance or straight up OHKO with Crunch. However, it takes a hefty chunk from Thunderbolt, and will most likely lose to Starmie after Hydro Pump damage, depending on the rolls, however if Gyarados gets a free switch in to Thunderbolt variants, it will win every time.

Why does my calculator auto-set to Sun being active smh
252 SpA Life Orb Starmie Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Gyarados: 78-92 (23.5 - 27.7%) -- 82.7% chance to 4HKO

Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 240 HP / 252 SpA / 16 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor / Dragon Pulse
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Bomb / Thunderbolt
- Earthquake / Muddy Water

Goodra can switch into all of Starmie's attacks, thanks to Assault Vest and its great special bulk. It can then proceed to OHKO with Draco Meteor or Thunderbolt after LO recoil or rocks.

Offensive:
252+ SpA Goodra Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Starmie: 237-279 (90.8 - 106.8%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO

Slowking @ Assault Vest

Slowking can take anything Starmie throws at it except a Super Effective Thunderbolt, which it can avoid the 2HKO from ( max rolls: 47 + 36.3 = 81.3 % ). In return, Slowking can 2HKO Starmie back with Grass Knot and heal up with Regenerator if needed.

252 SpA Life Orb Analytic Starmie Thunderbolt vs. 248 HP / 96 SpD Assault Vest Slowking: 156-185 (39.6 - 47%) -- 36.7% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Weavile @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard
- Low Kick / Pursuit

Even though Weavile is often known for his terrible bulk, it is fortunately still specially bulky enough to take any hit Starmie can throw out except a Analytic boosted Hydro Pump on the switch. Even Analytic boosted HP Fire fails to OHKO. In return, Weavile guarantees an OHKO with Knock Off. Even Pursuit has a chance to KO after LO recoil if rocks are up.
252 SpA Life Orb Analytic Starmie Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Weavile: 290-343 (103.2 - 122%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Life Orb Analytic Starmie Hidden Power Fire vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Weavile: 213-252 (75.8 - 89.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 Atk Life Orb Weavile Pursuit vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Starmie: 187-221 (71.3 - 84.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Is Knock Off numbers really necessary?

Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Assault Vest Raikou acts as a soft check to Starmie, being able to chew two of any of its attacks, and that's assuming it wins the speed tie. Otherwise, Thunderbolt is an easy ohko even without the boosting power of an item like choice specs.

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Grass Knot
- Gunk Shot
- Hyperspace Fury
- Fire Punch

Hoopa-U is a nice check to Starmie as it has a nice typing advantage vs it. Hoopa-U, thanks to its nice special bulk doesn't take much damage when switching-in vs a predicted Ice beam or a Thunderbolt, and it can also switch-in safely vs a predicted Psyshock as Psychic moves have no effect on Hoopa-U. After that Hoopa-U can OHKO Starmie with a single Hyperspace Fury. Though switching-in vs a hydro pump can be troublesome for Hoopa-U since that 2HKO's.

Slowbro @ Slowbronite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Def / 176 SpD
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Scald
- Psyshock
- Slack Off

status: counter to non-Thunderbolt variants, hard check to Thunderbolt variants.

Against Thunderbolt variants, Mega Slowbro can either win if a) it is pivoted into battle manually, takes a Thunderbolt that does around 50-60%, use Calm Mind, live the next Thunderbolt, and alternate between Calm Mind and Slack Off until Mega Slowbro has enough boosts to KO Starmie, b) switches into Rapid Spin or Psyshock and repeat the above steps shown in a). Against non-Thunderbolt variants, Mega Slowbro switches with extreme freedom into Starmie due to its natural typing, gain momentum via alternating between Calm Mind and Slack Off, then KO Starmie when at enough boosts.

Jirachi @ Leftovers

252 SpA Life Orb Analytic Starmie Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 240+ SpD Jirachi: 185-218 (45.7 - 53.9%) -- 2.7% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Life Orb Starmie Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 240+ SpD Jirachi: 142-169 (35.1 - 41.8%) -- 82% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Jirachi switches in against Hydro Pump with rocks on the field, at the end of the turn it has at least 46,1% left. The next Hydro Pump will only do 41,8% max, leaving you at a minimum of 4,3% HP. Protect can be used for extra leftovers recovery if for example Spikes are on the field. After that, Jirachi can spam Wish + Protect to Life Orb / PP Stall Starmie.

Beedrill can mega-evolve safely thanks to protect, Pursuit can be used here if you don't need protect, even though it's extremely hard to mega-evolve without protect.

Ferrothorn as counter (no HP Fire)

Ferrothorn takes pitiful damage from anything Starmie does. Additionally, low-health Starmie cannot spin on Ferrothorn as it will die to Iron Barbs. Ferrothorn can OHKO offensive Starmie with Power Whip. Even if it doesn't have Power Whip, it can use Leech Seed and 1v1 it with minimal HP loss. Additionally, a healthy Ferrothorn can check a HP Fire Starmie given it has Power Whip, as Starmie is unable to OHKO Ferrothorn, and Ferrothorn can OHKO back.

EVs: 248 HP / 96 Def / 144 SpD / 20 Spe
Bold Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Synthesis
- Sleep Powder

Switches in against any attack of Mega Ampharos and avoids the 2hko 100% of the time (95% of the time if modest) If it switches in against Agility, it will be outsped, but if Ampharos is timid, it can never 2hko Mega Venusaur without a crit. Switching in against Dragon Pulse means you outspeed Mega Ampharos the next turn and you can Sludge Bomb / Synthesis / Sleep Powder before it hits you again.
The only downside Mega Venusaur has is that Synthesis only has 8 PP, so Ampharos can eventually break through if it keeps spamming Dragon Pulse, though Sludge Bomb from Venusaur is a guaranteed 3hko and Venusaur can put Ampharos to sleep if nothing else is asleep at the moment.

252 SpA Mold Breaker Mega Ampharos Dragon Pulse vs. 248 HP / 144 SpD Mega Venusaur: 127-150 (34.9 - 41.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
0 SpA Mega Venusaur Sludge Bomb vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Ampharos: 106-126 (33 - 39.2%) -- 99.9% chance to 3HKO

Sylveon @ Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 HP / 220 Def / 36 SpD
Bold Nature
- Wish
- Heal Bell
- Protect
- Hyper Voice

Cleric Sylveon is a counter to Ampharos, being able to switch in against Dragon Pulse for free, taking minimal damage from Focus Blast and livese two Thunderbolts after Stealth Rock damage. From there. it is able to outstall with Wish + Protect recovery. It has a decent chance to OHKO with Pixilate Hyper Voice if Ampharos has taken any prior damage, meaning it can outright attack it in a punch. Sylveon doesn't particularly care about Agility since it's slower anyways.

252+ SpA Mold Breaker Mega Ampharos Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 36 SpD Sylveon: 150-177 (38 - 44.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Mold Breaker Mega Ampharos Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 36 SpD Sylveon: 66-78 (16.7 - 19.7%) -- possible 7HKO after Leftovers recovery

0 SpA Pixilate Sylveon Hyper Voice vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Ampharos: 254-300 (78.8 - 93.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Sylveon @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 240 HP / 252 SpA / 16 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power Fire
- Baton Pass

Specs Sylveon is a decent check to Ampharos. It doesn't handle it as well as the cleric set does, however, it can take two Thunderbolts, and has a decent chance to take two if Rocks are up, and OHKOs in return with Pixilate Hyper Voice.
