[OVERVIEW]

* Victini's high Base-power moves and versatile coverage make it a threatening wallbreaker in the OU metagame.
* Fire/Psychic typing and 100/100/100 bulk allow Victini to check top threats like Pheromosa and Tapu Lele.

[SET]
name: Substitute + 3 Attacks
move 1: Blue Flare
move 2: Thunder
move 3: Glaciate
move 4: Substitute
item: Leftovers
ability: Victory Star
nature: Timid / Modest
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

this set is lit af. set up a sub on celesteela, tang, zardy, buzzwole, non eq gross, sciz, locked phero, mag,....then blue flare / thunder / glaciate is all you need to pressure balance teams.

even better when you consider people try to beat mixtini by pivoting in and out, but now u have security of sub and don't have to predict. plus sub lets you escape ttar balance and switch out into something with helmet to wear it down

physical version of sub may seem better but special is better on paper. blue flare hits like a truck as well as its SE coverage letting it actually 2hko things like zygarde after rocks (or w/o modest is good)

metagame is also adapting in sub tini's favor with non-scald finis and more hammer arm gross

try this out man, best set it can run right now (atleast for special variants, band is good af)

Four things I learned while testing Victini:
1) It's weak. It needs a boosting item to do anything significant in any game. EBelt, CB, LO are all OK.
2) Fire/Electric coverage sounds better than it actually is. It's very alluring to try and spam these attacks behind a Substitute but Tini will usually fall short of doing anything useful unless the matchup is very fortunate. Sub tini is generally helpless against all stall teams, and any balanced teams that go for picks like Xard, Nihil, Heatran, SpD Rotom, TTar (even though sub lets it switch out), SpD Zapdos, ETC. Even if you try and run physical V-Create Tini behind a sub it's hard to consistently pull off great plays with it.
3) Tini is great at forcing switches. It's pointless to waste turns subbing up when you could be U-Turning, doubling, or clicking Fire STAB/Glaciate.
4) Its typing is good for checking things, but Substituting cuts your bulk down by 18%, which adds up quickly if you ever have to step on Stealth Rock coming in. The passive Leftovers recovery kind of mitigates this, but not really. Sub Tini was a good once-or-twice Gardevoir check for a short period in XY with Garde and Tar were both extremely common, but the game is so fast and offensive now that there's little room for Substitute on the set or in battle.

I've gotten around to trying sub Tini now and I found it really underwhelming. Do you have any replays of this set doing work?

Also, I'm close to changing the first set to just Choice Band, I played around with it more and it's pretty awesome, especially with the lack of Pursuiters that resist VC in the meta right now. This isn't to say that a mixed breaker set doesn't have its advantages, but I don't think Tini is really good enough to warrant having 3 sets on the dex, so I want to cut it down a little.

I think EBelt should be the main slash on the mixed set. Thanks to its coverage, most teams don't really have a reliable answer to Tini so they usually try to wear you down with LO+Rocks or even bait the V-Create for extra chip damage with Rocky Helmet. Ebelt fixes most of these issues while still have a nice amount of damage on most of its targets. You could also add HP Ground in OO because it's something I kinda found useful to bait Heatran/Marowak and even though it's very situational it's still a cool lure.

Ive always been fan of CB. Sure Dugtrio+Toxapex prevents you from doing any damage to stall, which kind of sucks for a CB user, but you CAN trick your band away to Toxapex, which is cute, and you can U-turn too. If you have some kind of Toxapex punisher on the team you can at least use the momentum nicely.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7oususpecttest-536525279 - substitute completely throws this baton pass team off. leftovers heals victini back to a comfortable amount of hp in order to take earthquake from metagross
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7oususpecttest-536518709 - my opponent needed charizard y to win the game so substitute was able to take advantage of death fodder while giving my specs pheromosa an opportunity to clean.

didn't have time to get out of tilt from yesterday but they show off the concept quite nicely despite being mid ladder replays.

however, i am in the opinion that substitute should just be mentioned in the moves of the special lure set instead of its own set. substitute is still fine with expert belt or life orb. i have been using 4 attacks and i realized how nice it is to have hp ground. speaking of the special lure set, i don't see much merit in psychic outside of hitting toxapex which an expert belt thunder can just 2hko.

in my opinion, the sets should be:
- choice band
- special lure (substitute just mentioned in moves)

thanks for reading (lol).

Hey guys,

Those are all great suggestions and I'm gonna implement all of them;

- Mixed LO breaker is being replaced with CB Tini
- Substitute is getting a mention on the Special Lure set in the moves section. This is a good compromise, cause I can see how Substitute may be a viable option at times...
- Mixed LO breaker is going in OO because LO tick is undesirable on Tini, but this set is still very scary in certain matchups
- Psychic: Was mostly for Toxapex. I guess Thunder can go over it because it hits more stuff, inconsistent as it is. Doing it.

I'll finish writing this one up when I get done with some homework. Thanks for all of the help!
