Ability: Vital Spirit
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bulk Up
- Facade / Body Slam
- Knock Off
- Slack Off

[SET COMMENTS]
Vigoroth is a monstrous threat at all stages of the game, being able to effectively create openings early with Knock Off and clean up late-game with Bulk Up thanks to its nearly peerless Speed and seldom resisted offensive coverage. Facade is usually opted for as a STAB move because it punishes the fact that most teams rely on status to check it long-term. However, Body Slam is also a good option because of its consistent power and paralysis chance. Slack Off provides Vigoroth critical sustainment and allows it to soft check certain attackers like Piloswine and Girafarig.

Vigoroth needs teammates that can comfortably switch into Thunder Wave and Knock Off, especially from Tinkatuff. Piloswine and Naclstack can absorb the former while offering entry hazard support, Thief Koffing and Pickpocket Tinkatuff make progress from the latter while serving as important defensive stopgaps to wallbreakers like Thwackey and Servine. Koffing and Quaxwell are great answers to physical Fighting-types like Pignite that force Vigoroth out. Choice Specs users like Frogadier and Girafarig can break through defensive cores and render their shared walls, such as Hisuian Sliggoo and Tinkatuff, ineffective with Switcheroo. It also appreciates pivots like Quaxwell and Thwackey that bring Vigoroth into Pokemon weak to Knock Off that switch into them like spinblocking Drakloak and Sap Sipper Girafarig, respectively.

While it's difficult to fit on the set, Vigoroth is an amazing user of Taunt. It effectively shuts down setup from Girafarig and Duosion, entry hazards and status moves from Tinkatuff and recovery moves from defensive staples like Quaxwell and Ivysaur. Additionally, dropping a STAB move for Stomping Tantrum or Earthquake hurts Vigoroth's overall consistency but can completely demolish common defensive structures that rely on Steel-types to check it.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Tinkatuff**: Due to its presence as a ubiquitous metagame staple and the only Pokemon to resist Vigoroth's standard coverage, Tinkatuff is often the main barrier for Vigoroth to sweep, threatening it with Thunder Wave and Encore. While Tinkatuff itself hates being hit by Knock Off, it can steal Vigoroth's Eviolite with Pickpocket and severely limit its setup opportunities.

**Fighting-types**: Pignite, Monferno, and Libero Raboot all immediately threaten Vigoroth and force it out. Pignite pressures Vigoroth's teammates with Knock Off while the latter two are able to reclaim momentum with U-turn.

**Status Users**: Thunder Wave from Tinkatuff and Drakloak and Toxic from Ivysaur and Dunsparce can both make Vigoroth defensively manageable or enable opposing setup threats like Girafarig to beat it one-on-one.

**Item Disruption**: Vigoroth's ability to set up and break teams is hampered by both the omnipresent Knock Off and Choice Item + Trick from the likes of Frogadier and Girafarig.

**Opposing Setup Users**: Even though they are not ideal answers, Swords Dance users such as Thwackey and Fraxure, opposing Bulk Up Vigoroth, and Shell Smash Wartortle can use their own setup moves to force a trade that prevents Vigoroth from sweeping. Additionally, both IronPress and Curse variants of Naclstack, while uncommon, effectively sit on Vigoroth and freely use it as an opportunity to set up.

It effectively shuts down setup from Girafarig and Duosion, hazards and status moves from Tinkatuff and recovery moves from defensive staples like Quaxwell and Ivysaur. Dropping a STAB move or Knock Off too much utility; can't really drop this move for Stomping Tantrum or Earthquake hurts Vigoroth's overrall consistency but can completely demolish common defensive structures that rely on Steel-types to check it.

Checks and Counters

**Tinkatuff**: As a ubiquitous metagame staple and the only Pokemon to resist Vigoroth's standard coverage, Tinkatuff is often the main barrier to a sweep, threatening Vigoroth with Thunder Wave and Encore. While Tinkatuff itself hates being knocked, it can steal Vigoroth's Eviolite with Pickpocket and can severely limit its setup opportunities.

**Fighting-types**: Monferno, Pignite and Libero Raboot all immediately threaten Vigoroth I'd also mention how Monferno and Raboot can reclaim momentum with U-turn and Monferno and Pignite can cripple teammates with Knock Off.

**Status Users**: Thunder Wave from Tinkatuff and Drakloak, Toxic from Ivysaur and Glimmet Dunsparce more relevant example and Will-O-Wisp from Misdreavus can all make Vigoroth defensively manageable or enable opposing setup threats like Girafarig to beat it one-on-one.

**Item Disruption**: Vigoroth's ability to setup and break teams is hampered by both the omnipresent Knock Off and Choice Item + Trick from the likes of Misdreavus, Frogadier and Girafarig.

I'd mention Naclstack as well, as while it is rare, it can beat all non-Taunt variants with the combination of Iron Defense + Body Press, or Salt Cure + Curse/Body Press. Other setup sweepers like Thwackey, Fraxure, and opposing Vigoroth can attempt to set up Swords Dance or Bulk Up and trade with it.

implemented, kept the libero mention but clarified it to not imply blaze is viable lmao. think its important to mention since 1) raboots not a fighting type 2) vigoroth can potentially setup on it if its locked into cb flare blitz or got its type set to dark/bug

(edit: realized idk if raboot turns into a bug if it clicks uturn on a hazard sac, guess theres the eject button interaction tho xd. dark still relevant anw.)

sorry it took so long, good stuff, qc 2/2
