"Volt-Turning Offense"

Anything in UU?

I've ran a few Volt-Turn cores in UU. One of the more effective ones tended to be Jolteon and Darmanitan, since they both hit on the opposite parts of the spectrum and tend to force a lot of switches.

I've recently wanted to try a Flygon Darmanitan Lanturn Volt-Turn core, mainly because they cover each others weaknesses fairly well (minus Dragon). Of course, that's more of a gimmicky option than anything.

Now that you mention it, Darmanitan makes a fantastic U-turner in OU with its ability to beat sun (Rotom-W enjoys rain). Even Jolly Scarf Darmanitan makes a fierce late game sweeper with Flare Blitz. It is definitely one of my favorite Pokemon to play with.

How about a CB/CS infernape and darmanitan u-turn combo under the sun?

That wouldn't work. Volt-Turning is based around keeping momentum, and lure in counters, U-Turn / Volt Switch out, and force him out to U-Turn / Volt Switch again. For example, Scizor lures in Skarmory and U-Turns to send out Rotom-W. The opponent then switches to Latias while you Volt Switch to Scizor to U-turn again. Infernape and Darmanitan have similar counters, meaning a bulky Gyarados or Dragonite for example can just stay in and set up.

This has been a really annoying combo for me as I use to rely on Hippodown and Blissey as my defensive core, easily allowing a volt-U turn chain to start. Recently I have been trying out pokemon who can break this combination. One of the most effective I have used is Rotom-C (grass).

Moves:
-Volt Switch
-Leaf Storm
-HP Fire
-Trick

With the above set rotom C is a great switch in to any Rotom-W set with only wil o wisp being of slight annoyance, 4x resisting any electric move and 2x resisting water, while being unaffected by trick.

If rotom-w volt switches out, Rotom-C is generally faster than what ever comes in so it can also volt switch out to a counter. If scizor switches in from a volt switch it can be handled with HP fire, while rotom-C can also switch in to bullet punches shifting momentum to your side.

I think it has a set of unique differences which separate it from celebi. Rotom-c has a stab Volt switch to abuse while celebi only has U turn (if that). Rotom-C also fears trick much less than celebi due to carrying the move itself and lastly Rotom-C is able to switc into scizor's bullet bunch due to its resistance while also resisting electric 4x not 2x.

Rotom C is an underrated poke in the OU metagame at the moment but try it out and see that it can function just as good as anything going right now in the current meta.

What pokemon would be a good u-turn partner for a volt-switching rotom-F?

Flygon is an option, laughing in the face of Fire attacks. Gliscor is a good general wall, laughing at both Fighting and Fire, being imune to burn the moment toxic orb activates.
Infernape is an option, if you want some wallbreaking raw power.

If you're absolutely sure that there's no fighting-type threat coming in, you could even use Hydreigon. Hydreigon resists Fire and it's insane coverage can suplement Rotom-F. Draco Meteor and then a quick U-turn is a great strategy. Any incoming Ice attacks can go to Rotom-F, who is more than bulky enought to take one or two. just be VERY weary of fighting moves.

I agree with Rotom-C; I've tried it myself and I was able to check VolTurn much easier, but its moveset also keeps Rotom-C competitively viable to affect a nice portion of the metagame. Trick was useful when I was abusing Lucario and Shell Smash.
