Waiting for the End [UU RMT]

Hello Smogonites, and thank you for opening up this RMT. This is my First UU RMT, and while I have made teams that got higher up on the leaderboard than this one, I'm posting it because it is by far the best team I have made. It is a Stall team, and got me a CRE of 1608 on the alt Chokmi which is #24. I know that isn't as high as some of the better people can get around here, but the fact I did it in around 4 days with a Stall team is good enough for me.

So, I made several Stall teams, but what makes this one unique is that I don't use the common core of Milotic/Donphan/Registeel/Chansey. I decided to be a bit creative and make my own core. So, I started out with Miltank hoping to help it sweep with its Curse-bell set. The result was more of a supporting role and so I adapted it to make it sweep whenever I need it to. Froslass and Spiritomb were next as I immediately figured a double-ghost strat was neccessary if I'm Spikes stacking with Stealth Rocks, too. Putting Froslass in the lead position was the best thing to do considering it sets up on a lot of common things, but some things stop it like Moltres, Rhyperior, and Hariyama. Immediately, I added Blastoise and Torterra to handle them should they appear. I needed Stealth Rocks so I gave that job to Torterra and I also needed a Rapid Spinner, hence why I chose Blastoise over Milotic. With my Stalling core completed I just needed a dedicated Pseudo Hazer and possibly one that could abuse the Entry Hazards. Raikou's speed shuffling set fit perfectly being capable of handling opposing Raikou while taking Sleep for the rest of the team and shuffling for hazard damage.

So, I don't want to bore you anymore. Here's the team!

Despite the fact that there are so many leads built specifically to combat this, it does its job good enough for me that I decided to make it the lead where it can't take Stealth Rocks damage making it far more efficient as a spin blocker. If I know something will KO this such as Moltres or Hariyama then I'll be switching, but otherwise, it's getting up its Spikes. The combination of Taunt and Pain Split let me hurt things so that they get into KO range such as Donphan.

The EV spread was made by HeySup, and it really is effective, though I can't help but feel it could be better. Still, it allows me to get 3 layers of Spikes up early if I play right and make good switches, so no problems there. The HP EVs, I'm sure allow me to switch into Stealth Rocks five times. The Defense makes sure I can survive assaults from Spiritomb and Ambipom. I'm actually considering making her faster to outspeed positive base 95 Speed Pokemon, most notably Leafeon. With that, I can reliably revenge kill it instead of relying on Raikou's Roar and Paralysis from Miltank's Body Slam.

Miltank is my cleric and has the biggest bag of tricks you guys are likely to find. Unlike Chansey who has a nearly non-existant defense stat, it actually has a decent Special Defense and the Special Defense EVs help to further that, allowing it to take Special hits such as a Surf from offensive Milotic. It can even take a Mismagius's HP Fighting after a Nasty Plot.

The moves help to compliment its enormous bulk. Heal Bell works well with Rest to give my Pokemon that don't have reliable recovery a way to recover all of their health. Body Slam is my only attacking move and nothing is immune to it due to Scrappy allowing me to potentially paralyze some ghosts. Curse allows me to raise my already phenomenal Defense and my mediocre Attack to sky-high levels at the expense of my great Speed. People often forget Miltank has a 100 base Speed stat, and even after a Curse, it's actually really fast, outpacing things in the 100-200 range. Surprisingly enough, that's much of UU. Milk Drink gives me a reliable recovery move and a way to beat out things like Rhyperior, as I just repeat the cycle of Curse, Milk Drink, Curse, Milk Drink, Curse, Curse, Milk Drink.... Eventually, it ends in a sweep provided no Critical Hit occurs which happens quite a lot.

In all, the support Miltank provides is greatly appreciated. Actually, it is so important to this team's success that you could call it the "glue" of the team holding everything else together whether it be waking my Spiritomb, Blastoise, and Raikou, or simply sweeping while Paralyzing things.

This guy is my secondary Spin blocker, counter to Fighting types, and revenge killer. Basically, it is my Jack-of-all-trades. He counters Fighting types like Hariyama, Toxicroak, and Hitmonlee so well, I had to add him to the roster and he has yet to fail me. As the role of revenge killer, he kills things like Mismagius, Froslass, and Swellow using his infamous Sucker Punch. Will-O-Wisp helps me to cripple common switchins such as Venusaur and Rhyperior while Rest gives me the recovery he so desperately needs. The synergy between him and Miltank is simply incredible. He gets an easy switchin on the Fighting types that love to harass Miltank while crippling the next switchin with a Shadow Ball or Will-O-Wisp.

The EVs are obviously far from standard. I mixed the Offensive Lead with the Defensive Lead's set. A Sassy nature was given to prevent the reduction of either of its offensive stats, and while the Speed might seem useless, it allows me to outspeed Slowbro and other Pokemon slower than it (I actually had to once to let it survive, lol). The HP EVs and nature allow it to survive a Modest Moltres's LO Fire Blast or a Swellow's Guts boosted Brave Bird even after Stealth Rock damage. Sadly, I can't OHKO Moltres after Stealth Rocks. I can weaken it enough to force it to use Roost on a predicted Sucker Punch as I switch in Blastoise, however. The Attack EVs allow me to kill Swellow with Sucker Punch after one round of Burn Damage and Stealth Rock damage or two rounds of Poison damage and Stealth Rocks damage. The Special Defense EVs allow me to tank Special hits better.

The moves are a little far from standard as well. Since I have a cleric and needed a dedicated Fighting counter, I chose Rest. Shadow Ball allows me to actually hurt the Fighting types I'm walling. The special defense drop is welcome, too, as Spiritomb is too slow to make use of the flinch his alternate STAB Dark Pulse provides. Sucker Punch makes sure I have a way to revenge kill things like Swellow or Venusaur should the need arise. Will-O-Wisp allows me to cripple physical attackers that try to set up on me after seeing Sucker Punch. These include Rhyperior, Feraligatr, Torterra, and so many other things.

Blastoise was chosen as my answer to Fire types that completely destroy any Stall team not spawning a bulky water. I didn't just choose him for that particular reason. After looking at his stats and Milotic's I figured using Milotic would be the best choice, and that is often the case on most Stall teams. Well, this one needed a spinner and a nice phazer to go along with those entry hazards. This Blastoise set provided just that while also accomplishing Milotic's job of walling those Fire types. It is a little more difficult using Blastoise to handle things like Moltres, but I almost always play around it with Rest. Rest allows me to recover all of my HP, and the only penalty is sleep which is cured by Miltank.

The EV spread is a little different from the standard Blastoise, and that is because Houndoom totally runs right through the current standard Blastoise. The special defense EVs allow Blastoise to survive +2 LO boosted Dark Pulse from Modest Houndoom after Stealth Rock damage. Without it, the team would probably be swept (Raikou outspeeds, but doesn't KO).

Torterra is my counter to most of Froslass's threats such as Rhyperior and Kabutops. So, if the opponent decides to get smart and use something other than Moltres to get rid of Froslass, I'll be getting my entry hazards up. Synthesis is a great healing move and it allows me to repeatedly spam Wood Hammer on things like Uxie, and when boosted by Overgrow, can become a threat to just about anything. Earthquake with STAB makes sure Arcanine isn't getting a free switchin. My two attacking moves also keep the pressure on the opponent forcing entry hazard damage until I get to the next member.

The EV spread gives Torterra its maximum defensive capabilities while also allowing it to outspeed Omastar for the KO with Wood Hammer. I have considered Venusaur in this spot for a Phazer and Toxic Spikes absorber; however, I have found Torterra to be the better choice, as a combination of Donphan and Venusaur would be much like what Torterra is. He doesn't perform his job as well as the two could separately, but he gets up Stealth Rocks while only taking up one team slot, and that's all that matters.

When my hazards are up and the opponent is feeling the pressure coming from Torterra and Miltank, I go to this guy. His job is simple. He absorbs sleep from Venusaur and Roars it out, or he just spams Thunderbolt to finish off the opponent. Rarely do I ever reveal him early, and that is because of the possibility of being trapped by Dugtrio. Rest and Sleep Talk allow it to use a sleep shuffling combination while it occasionally selects Thunderbolt. Pressure makes sure that no Pokemon will win a stall war against this Raikou. Roar is such a useful move on Raikou, and when paired with his natural ability to force switches, I usually rack up entry hazard damage fast.

The EVs make sure Chansey's Seismic Tosses never kill me while I'm asleep, while the Defense EVs make sure Specially Defensive Venusaur never KOs me while I'm asleep. I have considered and tried Rest-Talk Arcanine to compensate for my Grass weakness, but that opened up an even bigger Water weakness (Blastoise can only Yawn...). So, I changed back to Raikou and left it to that.

Threat List: Updated with HGSS Overworld Sprites!

Defensive Threats

306_2_0.png
Blastoise - Froslass blocks Spin and Raikou makes sure it takes a lot of damage coming back in next time if it decides to stay then it more than likely will get killed.

411_2_0.png
Chansey - Chansey is set up bait for Torterra, Miltank and Froslass. Raikou can just Roar it out, too.

674_2_0.png
Claydol - Froslass owns it, and Blastoise can spin whatever it sets up while threatening a STAB Surf.

389_2_0.png
Cloyster - Torterra does big damage and so does Stealth Rock. Spiritomb blocks spin attempts, Explosion, and takes Surf like a man.

676_2_0.png
Cradily - In Sandstorm, I have to Curse with it using Miltank and hope for a Critical Hit, or hope for a Critical Hit with Torterra who walls it anyway, so its sort of a stalemate here.

562_2_0.png
Donphan - Froslass beats Donphan using the EV spread I'm currently using. Torterra threatens a STAB Wood Hammer, Blastoise kills it with Surf, and Spiritomb blocks any spin attempts while burning it with Will-O-Wisp and Resting (Earthquake hurts before a burn).

831_2_0.png
Mesprit - Mesprit leads are set up on by Froslass. Spiritomb eats the rest for breakfast.

680_2_0.png
Milotic - Raikou is a good answer to this mermaid. It usually ends up with around 40% health the second time it comes in since it always switches out on Raikou just to be forced back in by Roar.

329_2_0.png
Nidoqueen - Either Froslass, Blastoise, or Torterra.

495_2_0.png
Quagsire - Gets set up on and then KOed by Torterra. :]

707_2_0.png
Regirock - switch to Torterra on the SR and then to Spiritomb on the predicted Explosion (if the opponent tries to get smart I'll set up my own SR).

709_2_0.png
Registeel - Torterra sets up. Blastoise gets an easy spin and Miltank sets up for the 2-3KO at +6. (can't remember).

824_2_0.png
Rotom - Spiritomb ftw. Also, Torterra sets up on some variants. Miltank does as well, but has to watch out for Trick.

378_2_0.png
Slowbro - Raikou 2KOs it and so does Torterra. Spiritomb does well, too. CM variants are Roared out by Raikou.

782_3_0.png
Spiritomb - Beaten by Raikou and Torterra sets up on it. Froslass is also EVed to be 4KOed by the lead set's Pursuit.

497_2_0.png
Umbreon - Torterra sets up and Raikou Roars it out. Miltank also sets up on it

830_2_0.png
Uxie - Spiritomb eats it for breakfast.

408_2_0.png
Weezing - Spiritomb, Miltank, Blastoise, and Raikou all beat it out one on one.

Offensive Threats

689_2_0.png
Absol - Walled by Torterra who survives a +2 Night Slash and KOs. Raikou Phazes it and might be able to take a Night Slash. Miltank also outspeeds it and body Slams it.

363_2_0.png
Alakazam - Spiritomb walls it almost completely.

764_2_0.png
Ambipom - Ambipom is handled by Torterra and Spiritomb. Froslass also sets up on it.

357_2_0.png
Arcanine - Blastoise is as hard of a hard counter to it as the term "hard counter" goes.

484_2_0.png
Azumarill - Beaten out by Raikou and Torterra.

587_2_0.png
Blaziken - Blastoise is really my only hope. Raikou can revenge kill some variants.

797_2_0.png
Drapion - Torterra sets up on defensive variants while offensive ones are burned by Spiritomb.

459_2_0.png
Feraligatr - Raikou and Blastoise are the best I have, though Spiritomb can burn it, and Miltank can take a Waterfall hoping to paralyze it.

823_2_0.png
Froslass - Probably the worst lead match up, but Spiritomb can come in on Taunt and Shadow Ball it while Sucker Punching on the Destiny Bond afterward to KO with Will-O-Wisp afterward. If the opponent knows then I'll just go ahead and Shadow Ball.

627_2_0.png
Hariyama - Spiritomb walls this sumo.

404_2_0.png
Hitmonlee - See above, but ignore the sumo bit.

567_2_0.png
Hitmontop - Foresight users are handled through careful switching between Froslass and Spiritomb.

559_2_0.png
Houndoom - Blastoise. Otherwise, I can revenge it with Raikou.

439_2_0.png
Kabutops - Torterra sets up on it. Rapid Spin is blocked by Spiritomb who can burn it.

413_2_0.png
Kangaskhan - Torterra walls it. Miltank also sets up on it.

815_2_0.png
Leafeon - The biggest threat after Sceptile which I have no safe switchin for. I've considered changing Froslass's EV spread just because of it.

812_2_0.png
Magmortar - Smart switching can beat out Choice variants, but otherwise, it has to be stopped by Raikou.

769_2_0.png
Mismagius - Spiritomb is THE Ghost killer, and Mismagius is no exception.

444_2_0.png
Moltres - Blastoise handles it finely. I also have Raikou just in case. Stealth Rocks ruin it, too.

437_2_0.png
Omastar - Torterra threatens it and sets up SR. Raikou beats it up pretty badly. Ofensive versions have to be careful when facing Blastoise.

573_2_0.png
Raikou - My own Raikou is my initial answer. Torterra does well against it, too.

809_2_0.png
Rhyperior - Torterra is my only safe switchin now (Blastoise needs 252 Defense EVs). So, I have to be careful and watch out for Megahorn which luckily doesn't KO and I can recover it off with Synthesis.

584_2_0.png
Sceptile- The biggest @$$ for this team to face honestly. Sub seed is fine, but Specs puts a hurt on everything.

421_2_0.png
Scyther - Stealth Rock and Spiritomb spell a dead Scyther. Raikou can force it to use QA by bluffing if the opponent doesn't know my set.

607_2_0.png
Swellow - Spiritomb beats it while surviving a Brave Bird.

722_2_0.png
Torterra - Froslass, my own Torterra. Hardly a threat anymore. :/

299_2_0.png
Venusaur - Froslass can revenge kill it, as can Spiritomb. Raikou can beat out Defensive versions, but if my ghosts are out, it's doing a lot of damage.

Team Styles:

686_2_0.png
Stall - Miltank is my last resort, but otherwise, I play just like I normally play: get out my hazards, phaze, and sweep.

799_2_0.png
Rain Dance - Annoying, but definitely worth acknowledging as a threat. I have to use Blastoise, Raikou, and Torterra wisely against the sweepers.

792_2_0.png
Sandstorm - Torterra owns the stage with STAB Wood Hammer and immunity to Sand. Froslass also gets up hazards for free on Hippopotas.

547_2_0.png
Offense - Smart switching and getting my hazards up will result in a win. Grass types can be a pain, though. Having one doesn't necessarily mean auto-loss for me, but they do lots of damage, and having two could mean so.

-EDIT- I'm prepared to take PKG's word on this, as I know next to nothing of UU play.... in that case, I guess I have nothing more to contribute, so nice team. :0

Beautiful RMT.

Nicely formatted and grest images. Threat list is well detailed as well.

I haven't got much to add (it IS an excellent team) but maybe beef up the speed? Leafeon is rare but it never hurts!

Edit:
-Banryu the move combination is legitimate.

-Prolass(bulky Froslass) isn't frail sash. Leads that beat are handled by the turtles.

-Offensive Kou would not mesh with this team (plus he needs a phazer) and bulky kou is surprisingly awesome.

-Torterra NEEDS Wood hammer to veat Water types. SE isn't doing much to the grass types without investment.

Nice team, and props for using Bulkykou.

One thing I'd suggest is to make Miltank more Specially Defensive. It already has good defense, further boosted by Curse. It really enjoys the extra Sp Def, allowing it to more reliably beat Mismagius and the like.

Grass types too really hurt your team, so a defensive Arcanine would work wonders.... maybe over Spiritomb? You lose the double-ghost combination, but Froslass still blocks spin and can use Taunt to shut down Foresight. Arcanine can also utilize roar to rack up more entry hazard damage:

Arcanine@Leftovers
252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Spe
Impish
- Flare Blitz
- Roar
- Will-O-Wisp/ Extremespeed
- Morning Sun

Wood Hammer actually does more damage to the Grass types.

I have considered and tried Rest-Talk Arcanine to compensate for my Grass weakness, but that opened up an even bigger Water weakness (Blastoise can only Yawn...).

That Arcanine could work out better, but I was thinking more about using a sleep shuffler which I did and failed with. Spiritomb is really vital to the team (fills up 3 roles and does them well). Without it, I would probably be swept by a Toxicroak or Swellow or lose to one of those spinner Kabutops since Froslass can't wall it. Making Miltank more specially defensive would be good, but the EVs allow me to take on Mismagius and other special threats like Raikou just fine. Spiritomb can beat it if things get out of control.

I'm definitely changing Froslass's EV spread.

going to go ahead and reccomend Miltank (though one of the first members of the team) be replaced with Curse Umbreon. The sets are incredibly similar and no important synergy is lost as far as I can see. Umbreon still works amazingly with Spiritomb luring in those fighting types whilst completely outclassing Miltank in every way that matters and many ways that don't!

You lose a fast curser (oxymoron), but gain a Wisher (always helpful) and Umbreon has the extra bulk to help not miss that instant heal. You lose 52 points in defence but gain 188 spec.def points which is the more important stat for a curser. Synchronize is a pretty nifty ability too, especially paired with heal bell.

The set is:

Umbreon@leftovers
Careful | Synchronize
Payback
Heal Bell
Curse
Wish/ Moonlight (I prefer Wish but it is just preference)

EVs are dependant on what you want, but to ensure easier stat ups the spread I like best is 252Hp/4Atk/252SDef. You can always move some Sdef over to Atk if you want to be more offensively oriented e.g. ohko mismagius without boosts (this is around 88 EVS needed)

Yeah I really think the extra bulk will make your life easier with this replacement.

I did start with Miltank when building the team, but like I said, I adapted it to more of a supporting role with Body Slam's paralysis and Heal Bell. PK Gaming suggested Umbreon when I was discussing this team with him through PM and told me Umbreon would be pretty redundant with Spiritomb after suggesting it. Besides, I like Body Slam's paralysis chance. It saved my hide so many times (I like Wish, but honestly, I'd use Moonlight on that set if there's no Protect). It also sort of leaves me open to things like CB Scyther (SR hurts it, but it does a ton of damage to everything). I probably should test it, though before dismissing the thought. It's just that the Special threats aren't as threatening with Blastoise, Raikou, and Torterra. Grass types are my only real worries, and Arcanine really didn't help that problem.

A way to atleast help against Grass types would be to run Ice Beam over Yawn possibly. I know Yawn is excellent for p-hazing, but atleast Grass-types aren't switching in for free anymore.

Nice Team! There are a few things I can add:
1) Syther with the Life Orb and a combination of Swords Dance, Areal Ace, Bug Bite and Reversal can beat most of your pokemon once Spiritomb is out of the way.

2) A Kangistan with Scrappy, Focus Punch, Substitute, Return and Some other move can spell doom for your team. Milktank, Froslass, and Spiritomb can't stand up to its Focus Punch while Raikou, Tortera and Blastoises take massive damage from Return.

That's about it. I'm new to UU so I can't tell you much else. Besides that, nice team!
