Warstory - Lessons in Heroism

Here's my first war story, conducted via Shoddy Battle, using some of my favourite Pokemon (and Swampert) that just happen to be very popular standards (save for Kingdra I guess).

Rules:
Don't know how Shoddy Battle handles it, but assumed
Sleep Clause
No Ubers
No DT/OHKO

Shen sent out Swampert.itsmatthew sent out Dragonite.
itsmatthew switched in Tangrowth.
Swampert used Stone Edge.
Tangrowth lost 13% of its health.
Tangrowth's leftovers restored a little health!
Tangrowth restored 6% of its health.

Mojonbo rules here, very annoying Swampert counter. Decided to switch to my physical wall.

Shen switched in Dusknoir.
Dusknoir is exerting its pressure!
Tangrowth used Stun Spore.
Dusknoir is paralysed! It may be unable to move!
Tangrowth's leftovers restored a little health!
Tangrowth restored 6% of its health.

Paralysis isn't too bad on Dusknoir, figured I could keep him in.

Tangrowth used Knock Off.
Tangrowth knocked off foe Dusknoir's Leftovers!
It's super effective!
Dusknoir lost 7% of its health.
Dusknoir used Will-o-wisp.

Tangrowth restored 6% of its health.
Tangrowth was hurt by its burn!

Ugh, no Leftovers. I'll keep on whittling though, as there isn't much else to do.

Dusknoir used Ice Punch.
It's super effective!
Tangrowth lost 21% of its health.

Tangrowth's leftovers restored a little health!
Tangrowth restored 6% of its health.
Tangrowth was hurt by its burn!
Tangrowth lost 12% of its health.

Not staying in with leech seed and no lefties, time for a switch.

Shen switched in Togekiss.
itsmatthew switched in Metagross.

Guess he was thinking the same thing, or predicted my switch.

itsmatthew switched in Tangrowth.
Togekiss used Thunder Wave.
But it failed!
Tangrowth's leftovers restored a little health!
Tangrowth restored 6% of its health.
Tangrowth was hurt by its burn!
Tangrowth lost 12% of its health.

Um, I guess he was absorbing the status, but is there a Togekiss around that doesn't carry Air Slash?

Togekiss used Air Slash.
It's super effective!
Tangrowth lost 110% of its health.
itsmatthew's Tangrowth fainted.

Tasty, 6-5 to me.

itsmatthew switched in Uxie.
Uxie used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around your foe's team!
Togekiss used Thunder Wave.
Uxie is paralysed! It may be unable to move!

Stealth Rock means Uxie is probably carrying Yawn for pseudo-roaring. Still, its not an offensive poke so I decided to set up my own rocks.

Shen switched in Swampert.
Pointed stones dug into Swampert.
Swampert lost 6% of its health.
Uxie used Thunder Wave.
No effect!

It's super effective!
Swampert lost 107% of its health.
Shen's Swampert fainted.
Togekiss's leftovers restored a little health!
Togekiss restored 6% of its health.

Silly error on my part, shows I'm still new to competitive battling. Swampert the first to go, in a way not dissimilar to stepping on a clearly visible landmine. 5-5

Shen switched in Kingdra.
Pointed stones dug into Kingdra.
Kingdra lost 12% of its health.
Kingdra used Dragon Dance.
Kingdra's attack was raised.

Honestly, how many pokemon on one team can carry Thunder Wave? The Lum Berry proved to be the bible in my breast pocket. Switch to absorb the status.

Shen switched in Dusknoir.

Tried to Pain Split here, accursed full paralysis.

Togekiss used Air Slash.
Critical hit!
Dusknoir lost 70% of its health.
Shen's Dusknoir fainted.

And another hax, 2 in a row. Still, probably would have flinched in any case. The shellshock proves too much for Dusknoir, and the score is now 4-5, falling behind.

itsmatthew switched in Uxie.

The pixie returns. Not in for your average wall battle though, as my Milotic has 156 EVs in SpAtk.

Milotic used Surf.
Uxie lost 25% of its health.
Uxie used Yawn.
Milotic became drowsy!
Milotic's leftovers restored a little health!
Milotic restored 6% of its health.

Figured Earthquake, as Thunderpunch hasn't been implemented yet.

Shen switched in Togekiss.
Pointed stones dug into Togekiss.
Togekiss lost 25% of its health.
Metagross used Agility.
Metagross's speed was sharply raised.

Well, means its not a CBGross. Togekiss can stay in to paralyse.

Metagross used Meteor Mash.
Togekiss lost 44% of its health.
Togekiss used Thunder Wave.
Metagross is paralysed! It may be unable to move!

Would have wished, but figured Togekiss would be going down next turn and didn't have any other pokes that would benefit, so decided to Aura Sphere.

Togekiss used Aura Sphere.
Critical hit!
Metagross lost 56% of its health.
Metagross used Meteor Mash.
Metagross missed!

Haha, and double hax for me this time. Because switching in Togekiss again would be useless due to rocks, decided to go out with a bang.

Togekiss used Aura Sphere.
Metagross lost 29% of its health.
Metagross used Meteor Mash.
Togekiss lost 46% of its health.
Shen's Togekiss fainted.

Uxie lost 12% of its health.
Weavile used Ice Shard.
Critical hit!

itsmatthew's Uxie fainted.

Don't quite know why he did that, would have killed Uxie the next turn even without the crit. 3-3 now.

itsmatthew switched in Gallade.
Pointed stones dug into Gallade.
Gallade lost 6% of its health.
Shen switched in Milotic.
Pointed stones dug into Milotic.

Gallade's defence was lowered.
Gallade's special defence was lowered.
Gallade lost 10% of its health.
Milotic's leftovers restored a little health!
Milotic restored 6% of its health.

Gallde doesn't scare me, especially if it's carrying Life Orb. I'll let it have Milotic and lower its defense a little more, just in case.

Milotic is fast asleep!
Gallade used Close Combat.
Milotic lost 48% of its health.
Shen's Milotic fainted.
Gallade's defence was lowered.
Gallade's special defence was lowered.

2-2, rocks in play but Weavile on 50% and him with two pokes weak to Ice Shard. No worries here.

Kingdra used Draco Meteor.
Critical hit!
Togekiss lost 107% of its health.

Weavile lost 25% of its health.
Weavile used Ice Shard.
It's super effective!
Dragonite lost 133% of its health.
itsmatthew's Dragonite fainted.
Shen wins!

And so victory was ours, though Weavile had to step over the bodies of his fallen comrades to secure the win. Fun battle, and shows Stealth Rock alone is not enough to make up for a Weavile weak.

Props:
Weavile for saving the day.
Kingdra because he's awesome (and only having Lum Berry because Scope Lens isn't in yet).
Togekiss and Milotic for taking one for the team.

Slops:
Losing Swampert to Grass Knot off his Togekiss.
Dusknoir for not doing anything despite also being awesome.
A couple of bad switches on his part with Tangrowth and Uxie.

One question: WHY did you switch out Kingdra after you left it in to wasteis Lum Berry from the Thunder Wave and you already had a Dragon Dance under your belt?

I dont quite know why you didnt have Weavile Ice shard Togekiss, but whatever, it was a good read, and a deserved win.

One question: WHY did you switch out Kingdra after you left it in to wasteis Lum Berry from the Thunder Wave and you already had a Dragon Dance under your belt?

I didn't want to risk getting paralysed; I didn't think 1 DD would be enough to OHKO given Togekiss's high defenses, and I figured I could bring him out again.

I dont quite know why you didnt have Weavile Ice shard Togekiss, but whatever, it was a good read, and a deserved win.

I didn't want to risk bringing out Weavile too often because of Stealth Rocks. Seeing as he ended with 25% (ie. would have died next switch) I think it was an alright call. Didn't want to rush it.

I didn't want to risk getting paralysed; I didn't think 1 DD would be enough to OHKO given Togekiss's high defenses, and I figured I could bring him out again.

Butthen why stay in and Dragon Dance anyways, and waste its Lum Berry? Why not just swich out to Dusknoir before the T-Wave? Why not DAMAGE Togekiss instad of Dragon Dancing, wasting its Lum Berry then switching out?

I didn't know his Togekiss had Twave at the time; the only move it had showed thus far was Grass Knot, so I used DD instead of attacking. Once I saw that it did, I switched to Noir. Twave is too damaging to a DDer for me to have left Kingdra in. I guess it shows that I really haven't considered Togekiss properly, and that I'm not used to working with Lum Berry.

Togekiss will most of the time have TWave. If you see that they're using Tangrowth with Stun Spore, Gallade, AND Togekiss, it's obvious they're running a parahax team.

Anybody notice that all the haxes happened when the Togekisses was out?

Gallade didn't come out till later, though I see what you're getting at. After all, I was running Paraflinch Togekiss myself. And yeah, you'd think Serene Grace had some effect on criticals, misses and FP judging by that match.
