Wartortle washes away NFE! Carving out a strong niche in the NFE metagame as a straightforward but dangerous sweeper, Wartortle takes advantage of its natural bulk to set up on Pokemon that fail to immediately threaten it and snowball through teams with Surf and Ice Beam, a coverage combination that pressures most of the tier once its checks are taken out of the picture. It offers flexibility with its fourth moveslot, mainly using Substitute to ease setup by blocking status from Pokemon like Dunsparce or Rapid Spin to provide utility while also boosting its Speed. However, its success remains dependent on what opposing Pokemon show up at team preview, as special walls like Hisuian Sliggoo and Pokemon that can outspeed +2 Wartortle like Grassy Glide Thwackey, Choice Scarf Monferno, and Choice Scarf Girafarig can prevent it from sweeping after chip damage. As a result, Wartortle thrives with hazard support from Pokemon like Piloswine and Tinkatuff, alongside teammates that pressure its checks, with strong wallbreakers that threaten special walls and Grass-types like Pignite, Fraxure, and Piloswine being great partners.

It offers flexibility, with its fourth move slot, mainly using Substitute to ease setup by blocking status from Pokémon like Tinkatuff this is a bad example because Tinkatuff is usually faster and goes through Sub with Encore anyway, say Dunsparce instead, or Rapid Spin to offer utility while also boosting Speed. However, its success remains dependent on what opposing Pokémon show up in team preview, as bulky special walls like Hisuian Sliggoo regular Sliggoo is bad, priority users only Thwackey is a relevant priority user revenge killing Wartortle, the rest needs Wartortle to be extremely weakened in order to KO it, and faster threats nothing is faster than it without boost, so maybe say Choice Scarf users instead ; Monferno and Girafarig are some examples after chip can prevent it from sweeping, with Grass-types like Thwackey and Servine serving as its most prominent offensive checks. Opposing Water-types such as Quaxwell can also trade with Wartortle if not sufficiently worn down. Actually Wartortle wins the dual vs Water-types, even using them as setup fodder sometimes. As a result, Wartortle thrives with hazard support from Pokémon like Piloswine and Tinkatuff, and teammates that pressure its checks, often fitting naturally into Fire-Water-Grass cores offensive FWG core is extremely rare with partners like Thwackey and Pignite or Monferno. It pairs well with strong wallbreakers that threaten special walls and Grass-types like Pignite, Fraxure and Piloswine.
nice job
