CrimsonBlastoise here with my first post and an RMT of my first NU team created. This team took me to around 40th place with a rating In the mid 1500's on the showdown NU ladder. This was pretty good for me considering I'm new to NU and singles as a whole and I also never changed the team from when It was made. As you can see this Is a rain offence team and just focuses around getting up the rain and sweeping with Ludicolo and Kabutops.

Team Analysis
313Volbeat.png

Perez Hilton (Volbeat) @ Damp Rock
Ability: Prankster
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Encore
- Baton Pass
- Rain Dance
- Tail Glow

My first team member Is Volbeat and decided to use him when I looked through potential rain setters. Volbeat has a pretty good move set for support, and with the ability prankster ensures that I always get to set up rain with damp rock ensuring the rain stays around for 8 turns, which Is enough time for my sweepers. The spread was just a standard spread with 252HP and 252Speed because I wanted to out speed other Pranksters and maybe lock them Into a useless move with Encore, I think bulk would have been a better choice though. The moveset was Encore to stop people from setting up with mons like Slurpuff and Feraligatr or from stopping hazard setters as I would just encore them Into that move until they switch. Tail Glow and Baton Pass was a combo I used to get free special attack after I encore my opponent so I can pass It Into Ludicolo and sweep or even rarely Kabutops or Mesprit. Rain Dance Is for obvious reason's explained above and because this Is a rain team.

272Ludicolo.png

Mirror B (Ludicolo) (M) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Swift Swim
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Giga Drain
- Ice Beam
- Hydro Pump
- Focus Blast

This was my first rain sweeper that was added to the team since Ludicolo has decent special attack and can sweep under the rain. I used 252 Special Attack with a Modest nature to do as much damage as I can, Life Orb was not needed In my opinion as It shortens my sweep, and I wanted to keep It around for longer since It still dishes out heavy damage without life orb and Volbeat can assist It with Tail Glow. I went with 252Speed to outspeed a lot of stuff In the rain even some scarfers and decided not to go with a timid nature as It was not needed. The moveset I used was just dual stab with Ice Beam/Hydro Pump for coverage. Ludicolo does not get any better attack's than these and need's to run 4 attack's since I am running Assault Vest, The vest Is good because It allow's me to just come In and tank pokemon like Typhlosion and Special Sceptile and OHKO In return. I'm thinking about whether Leftovers would have been a better choice.

250px-141Kabutops.png

Hybrid (Kabutops) @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Giga Drain
- Rapid Spin

My second sweeper was Kabutops. He hit's very hard with a Life Orb and a 252Atk Naive nature. You may be thinking why I'm running Giga Drain on Kabutops, but It allows me to 2HKO most Seismitoads which would normally wall this set. I understand that Seismitoad can OHKO In return and I decided not to run enough Investment to OHKO after stealth rocks because the loss of attack or speed was not worth the special attack boost. I used Rapid Spin over Aqua Jet because I knew not much would be outspeeding In rain and my team was In need of a way to get rid of hazards especially If they set up Toxic Spikes on my side of the field.
250px-112Rhydon.png

Rhydin (Rhydon) @ Eviolite
Ability: Lightning Rod
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Stealth Rock
- Megahorn

Rhydon was added as a stealth rock setter that could also absorb electric attacks, It's also a physical attacker sponge as It can tank hits pretty well with Eviolite and 120 base defense and still hits back hard In return with the 3 attacks and Adamant nature. The ability did not really matter as they all would have been useless on this Rhydon. I went with max HP over Speed because It's not out speeding much with 40 base speed and the HP Is needed when I'm using It as a wall. Earthquake and Stone Edge were just added for the double stab and Megahorn was added Instead of Hammer Arm for coverage and to hit the grass types that threaten Rhydon.

250px-241Miltank.png

Kelis (Miltank) @ Choice Band
Ability: Sap Sipper
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Double-Edge
- Hammer Arm
- Ice Punch
- Punishment

Choice Band Miltank was a last minute choice and too my surprise Is extremely powerful. I originally added It for sap sipper support so I could switch Into grass type attacks since many people don't expect It, But I decided to take advantage of sap sipper and make an offensive Miltank. Also Ludicolo cannot switch Into physical Sceptile while It can switch Into the special variant and It's basically the other way around with Miltank. It can also switch In on Spore/Sleep Powder and get a boost, this set completely counters Lilligant, unless It's running HP Fighting and has a lot of Quiver Dances set up. I was suprised to see that Miltank Is incredibly fast and can outspeed a lot of NU mons. I went for straight power with my moveset first starting with Double Edge for stab instead of Body Slam since Double Edge gets a lot of OHKOs that Body Slam fails to get. Hammer Arm is for other bulky normal types that can resist Double Edge and rock types. Ice Punch was for coverage and hits grass types that think they can stay In after sap sipper boost, Although Double Edge will probably finish them It's better to have a non recoil method. Punishment took the final move slot and Is for ghost types that think they can switch in to be Immune stuff like Mismagius.

250px-481Mesprit.png

TeamPlayer (Mesprit) @ Damp Rock
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Gentle Nature
- Rain Dance
- Healing Wish
- Knock Off
- Psyshock

The last moveslot went to Mesprit as my second rain setter. The reason why Mesprit got this spot over Uxie was because of the move Healing Wish.It Is holding a damp rock to maximize the rain turns like Volbeat. I made It specially Defensive so it could somewhat act as the other half of Rhydon. Healing Wish was to keep sweeps alive when I have a pokemon I need that Is my win condition and Is also at a low health I just healing wish Into them, It also lets Kabutops be more risky and switch Into Toxic Spikes to spin them away. It would have been perfect If It got Defog but sadly It doesn't. Knock Off Is always a good move and just a filler to get rid of the opponents Items. It has psyshock for stab and to do heavy damage to Dragalge which gives me some problems.

Threat list
I have not used this team In about 2 weeks and have bad memory so I do not remember everything.
691.png
Dragalge - Toxic Spikes really mess up my team, and It can be a problem to take out late game.
537.png
Seismitoad - Only real counter to It Is Ludicolo
601.png
Klingklang - Massive threat once It has a gear grind up

That's all I have to say about this team, Any feedback will be helpful.
Here Is a replay of the team In action

Hey CrimsonBlastoise. That's a nice team you got here. Rain teams are fun as hell, so you got me there.

Here are the changes that I suggest making to your team. First, I wouldn't use Volbeat. Instead, I would change it from Volbeat ---> Liepard. You lose the ability to use Tail Glow + Baton Pass, but frankly it was Taunt/Encore bait anyways. With Liepard, you have some attacks so you can still provide something to your team outside of rain support. Also, I found that Rhydon didn't really fit in on a rain team. Rain boosts the damage output of Water-type attacks by 50%, so having a Pokemon that's 4x weak to Water-type attacks just seems kinda...dangerous. For that reason, I changed Rhydon ---> Seismitoad. Despite it being on a rain team, I still ran the standard defensive Seismitoad. The sets I ran for these two Pokemon are here:

Liepard @ Damp Rock
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rain Dance
- U-turn
- Knock Off
- Encore

Rain Dance and Encore to start off with and deal with opposing entry hazard setters or set up sweepers. Knock Off for utility and STAB attack, and U-turn to pivot out to rain sweepers.

Seismitoad @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 200 HP / 252 Def / 56 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Scald
- Earthquake
- Knock Off

Stealth Rock for entry hazard damage, Scald and Knock Off for utility in burns and removing items. Earthquake can be used to deal with opposing Pokemon like Dragalge, which is nice, since you really don't like it.

With Tail Glow + Baton Pass Volbeat gone, there's no real reason to run Giga Drain on Kabutops anymore. You should just change Giga Drain ---> Aqua Jet. Priority is nice against finishing off those Pokemon that still outspeed you. You might also then change its EVs to 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe with an Adamant Nature.

Well, I hope you try these out and they work for you :)

Thank's for the advice :) Will definitely try these out and tell you how It goes

Hey CrimsonBlastoise first off welcome to Smogon!

Now on to the team, when looking at your team the first thing I see is that your team is really weak to fighting types so I am going to disagree with Lord Alphose on his suggestion to switch out Volbeat to Liepard as your team then becomes weak to thing likes Hariyama and when the rain is down other Fighting-types. I am however going to suggest a better support set for Volbeat as it struggles to find the room to setup Rain, TailGlow, and then Baton Pass. Instead a set of Rain Dance | U-turn | Encore | T-Wave / Tailwind would better suit your purposes of being able to cripple opposing fast threats and having a slow U-turn to be able to pivot out along with a fighting resist. The two most replacable members on your team are Rhydon and Miltank, so looking at a replacement I am going to agree with Lord Alphose on his second suggestion to have Seismitoad > Rhydon as on a Rain Team toad is a much better rain setter along with a rock setter, there is a better Rain Dance set more suited for your team which I will list below. I am also going to recommend trying out Life Orb > Assault Vest again as the power drop is noticeable and not being able to 2HKO things such as Hariyama and having a chance to OHKO Cryogonal after rocks is huge, you have Giga Drain and Healing Wish to regain HP for Ludicolo so the extra special defense from Assault Vest is unneeded. Lastly I am going to suggest a Life Orb Miltank set with Milk Drink for recovery as this will allow Miltank to still hit hard while retaining survivability, Miltank provides a cool niche with Sap Sipper so while I did say it is the most replaceable mon on your team I think you can keep it for now, if you find yourself with a huge weakness to something than you can replace it with whatever fits.

313.png

Volbeat (M) @ Damp Rock
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Rain Dance
- Encore
- U-turn
- Thunder Wave / Tailwind
This spread gives Volbeat a slow U-turn which allows sweepers to come in unscathed while still being able to take a hit from a Fighting-type and set up the rain again. Tailwind can be used over Thunder Wave.

537.png

Seismitoad @ Damp Rock
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Hydro Pump
- Earth Power
- Rain Dance
This allows toad to rely on its natural bulk to set up the rain while still maintaining an offensive presence after filling its roll of setting up Stealth Rock and Rain Dance.

241.png

Miltank (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Milk Drink
- Return
- Earthquake
- Hammer Arm
I was unsure what to run in the last slot so I decided to go for Fighting coverage to nail pesky things like Ferroseed.

Hope this helped ^.^

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried out the team and they worked surprisingly well together, Seismitoad Is real powerful even without life orb and Miltank works even better not having to be locked Into a move every turn

I tried out the changes you said while everything did work, like Montsegur said I had trouble with Hariyama but the Seismitoad worked as a good Rhydon replacement
