Hey there,
I decided to build a team around Weavile, he's one of, if not, my favourite pokemon (huge speed and attack and alot of coverage). The strategy would be to basically set up a Weavile sweep after taking out its greatest threats (although it obviously isn't the only the way to win).
WEAVILE
Nature: Jolly 252 Atk/252 spd/6 HP
Ability: Pressure
Item: Focus sash
Night Slash
Brick Break
Swords Dance
Icicle Crash
As you can see it's pretty simple, swords dance, take a hit (survive it 100% thanks to Focus sash) and then start cleaning up! I figured those three attacks give Weavile outstanding coverage. Popular pokemons who pose a threat to it that come to mind would be Azumarill, Scizor and Talonflame (gotta get rid of those first).
BLASTOISE
Nature: Modest 252 HP/252 spatk/6 spdef
Ability: Torrent / Mega Launcher
Item: Bastoebalblaba (megaevrock)
Aura Sphere
Ice Beam
Rapid Spin
Water Pulse
Yep, blastoise is my rapid spinner TANK. He can take a blow or two and get rid of any spikes or stealth rocks that could nullify Weavile's Focus Sash. He can also deal alot of damage with his ability in his mega evolution form, has nice coverage as well. Overall excited to use him.
GRENINJA
Nature: Timid 252 spatk/252 speed/6 HP
Ability: Protean
Item: Expert Belt
Dark Pulse
Ice Beam
Extrasensory
Hydro Pump
Like shofu said, what stops rapid spinning? Ghosts, Greninja can deal with that and much more, I would most probably lead with him due to his amazing coverage and even more amazing ability. I love using this guy, I picked him as my starter and Greninja was one of my favourite pokemon by far before I even knew Protean existed or what competitive battling was.
MAGNEZONE
Nature: Modest 252 HP/252 spatk/6 def
Ability: Magnet Pull
Item: Air Balloon
Thunderbolt
Thunder Wave
Hidden Power (Fire)
Flash Cannon
Magnezone is there to deal my one type I don't have coverage for, Water. With Magnet Pull he can also take out some steel types that can really bother me elsewise such as Scizor and Skarmory. And he's there to deal with Azumarill and other fairy types as well. Thought about using a Sturdy one, but then thought about Air balloon and how it eliminates his one real threat: Earthquake (none of my other pokemons are vulnerable to ground by the way). This pokemon is the one that i'm most unsure about, I definitely want to use it, but i'm not sure which EV spread/moveset is the most ideal for this team.
TALONFLAME
Nature: Adamant 252 atk/252 speed/6 HP
Ability: Gale Wings
Item: Life Orb
Brave Bird
Roost
U-Turn
Flare Blitz
I'm tired of seeing this guy everywhere, but I have to admit, he fits perfectly in this team (with his typing and coverage). It would be foolish not to use him when I need something to deal with fighting types and SCIZOR (yeah, scizor laughs at Weevile's sweeping attempt), no one better to take out scizor (and other steel types, which are pretty common) then this fire bird. I run what I suppose is a pretty standard set (didn't look it up or anything, but with this guy it's very easy to know what moves it should have).
GARCHOMP
Nature: Jolly 252 atk/252 speed/6 HP
Ability: Rough Skin
Item: Rocky Helmet
Dragon Claw
Poison Jab
Fire Fang
Earthquake
Garchomp is the last piece of the puzzle. I needed another powerful physical attacker who knew earthquake and a fire move as well... took me a while but then I thought of him, I don't know, he seems like the perfect one to fill the last spot, his typing is perfect (weak to ice and dragon, 2 types that aren't super effective against the rest of my team). He is weak to fairy but I added poison jab, doesn't hurt right? (since it can't learn dragon dance, and I passed on swords dance because I leave that stuff to Weavile). With him I finally have a much needed response to electric types (especially fast ones) and I can basically take on alot of stuff and soften up the field for Weavile.
So... what do you guys think? Any insight, opinions, praise, criticism (is it the worst thing you've ever seen? :P)... i'm still relatively new to this, so any insight would be much appreciated!
