[OVERVIEW]
* Urshifu-R is the formats premier physical attacker, with much of the meta warped around this Pokemon. This due to the difficulty of defensively positioning around Urshifu-R as it can hit through Protect and ignore Intimidate with Surging Strikes. Water- and Fighting-type STAB are both highly valuable. Few Pokemon resist both, and they hit many valuable types, such as Fire, Normal, Ground and Steel. It has strong across the board stats, with a very high attack stat, and solid speed and bulk.
* Urshifu-R has an incredible partnership with Tornadus. Urshifu-R is an especially good abuser of Tailwind as it outspeeds every non-speed-boosted Pokemon in the format, and opposing teams cannot stall Tailwind turns with Protect infront of Urshifu-R. Bleakwind Storm can remove the grass types that check Urshifu-R, most importantly Rillaboom, the Ogerpons and Amoonguss. Tornadus can also support its damage output with Rain Dance. Urshifu-R also specifically appreciates Pokemon with Fake Out, such as Rillaboom and Incineroar, due to the pins Fake Out + Unseen Fist can create, and often sees play as the Water-type of the 'Fire-Water-Grass' core many teams build around.
* Amoonguss is Urshifu-R's hardest check, as it can redirect and resisting both Urshifu-R's STABs, deal damage back with Rocky Helmet or Sludge Bomb, or Spore. Raging Bolt is also a big Urshifu check, as it can OHKO Urshifu-R with Thunderclap and a boosting item, and resists both Surging Stikes and Tornadus' Bleakwind Storm. The Ogerpons outspeed and threaten to OHKO with Wood Hammer, while Flutter Mane outspeeds and threatens to OHKO with Moonblast. Rillaboom and Farigiraf also trade damage positively into Urshifu-R. If speed control can be gained against opposing Urshifu-R, it may struggle to take hits or trade damage positively.

* Boosting Urshifu-R's damages allows it to pick up KOs it couldn't do otherwise, such as Chien-Pao, no bulk Ogerpons and other Pokemon calced to survive Urshifu-R's non boosted attacks, such as Sitrus Berry or Physically Bulky Incineroar (not both).
* Aqua Jet gives Urshifu-R access to Priority, while Close Combat is its strongest Fighting-type move.
* Life Orb has the drawback of costing 1/10th of your health, but also gives you a boost to Close Combat, allowing you to OHKO non-bulky Ogerpon-W, Archaludon while the boost to Surging Stikes gives you rolls on Pokemon calced to survive Mystic Water Surging Strikes, such as Bold Flutter Mane and Ogerpon-H.
* The attack investment allows for Urshifu-R to OHKO Chien-Pao with Surging Strikes. The allocated bulk allows Urshifu-R to live a Thunderclap from most Assault Vest Raging Bolt, live an Earth Power from most Landorus, and live a Terrain Boosted Grassy Glide from Ogerpon-H. The speed investment allows Urshifu-R to outspeed modest Regidrago and adamant Dragonite.
* Tera Water is strong both defensively and offensively, allowing you to remove your Fighting-type to survive moves such as Flutter Mane's Moonblast or Tornadus' Bleakwind Storm. A boost to Surging Stikes can allow you to KO Pokemon you otherwise couldn't, such as Bold Flutter Mane and bulky Ogerpon-H spreads. Tera Steel is allows you to flip your typechart, as it resists 4/5 of Urshifu-R's weaknesses, and shares no weaknesses. The Normal-type resistsance is also useful against Extreme Speed Dragonite and can be used in a pinch against both Ursalunas. Tera Fire is used to flip your matchup into Ogerpon-H.
