Yeah yeah, kagurabachi is technically not an anime, but the adaptation's been announced for a while and i fucking love this guy so shoot me. This little gay boy is cool as fuck and incredibly relatable. They say being queerbaited by a shonen is like losing chess to a dog, but if that's the case then Hokazono is like. the magnus carlsen of dogs or something.

You cannot tell me with a straight face this isn't basically a BL manga. And this is after viz translators gutted half the symbolism, supposedly the original japanese is even more blatant.

‍Honestly, the real relatability of this guy comes from his story arc. The general premise is that he's ostracized from his family (understatement of the century) due to his inability to use the family magic. And in the climax of his personal arc (top 3 best chapters in the manga btw, says a lot considering how fucking peak this manga is) it's revealed that he actually had the family magic the entire time, and that the reason he couldn't use it for the first 17 years of his life is because he was subconsciously using his family's other magic (which is supposed to be manually passed down at the cost of the original family magic) to protect himself from his own family. It's a story about shedding away your past traumas in the most literal sense of the word and becoming a stronger person through it, and something about that story just resonates with me.

he's so cool. i dont know what the hell this guy is on but he is awesome. Always gotta love someone who never goes back on his ideals even when they literally try to kill him except HF route shirou but eehhh that ones kinda iffy jury's out on that one and he did TECHNICALLY succeed in saving sakura without killing everyone else but the fact that archer then decided not to try and kill him means he's basically admitting he went back on his ideals? except not really because he still tried to find a way to save sakura AND stop the third impact at the cost of literally stabbing himself from the inside out? HF route is an acid trip in general but goddamn if it isn't one of the best written stories ever. Really glad I got bored a few times and rewatched the movies bc HF went from my least favorite to favorite route in like 2 years. (least favorite route is now UBW but not because its a bad route its just because they let shinji live)

best f/nv main character by far with ryougi being a somewhat close second

hmm not that these are the characters that i think im the most similar too but maybe some characters i particularly felt for. not sure if there are any trends there. there might be some trends or themes there but idk. curious to hear what my taste in characters might mean!
