What has Smogon done for you?

I only just signed up, but I've been reading this forums for the last 1,5 month now. Got told about this site while discussing some stuff on IRC with Sirfunchalot, who was busy building a team for some online competition.

After that conversation I kind of used Smogon as my main source on gathering data for my own personal use on my Pokémon setups. And i learned quite much so far.

When I saw this thread I just had to write a short thanks for all, this forum is a great place for information and I hope I might find some more fun here now I registered.

Keep on the good work.

Smogon allowed me to be a non-nab and it allowed me to meet all the cool people I know now and become good friends with them. (McGraw Jabba Mystica Ugly_Duckling Taylor TomJane and more)

Given me the useful battling knowledge required to be a skilled pokemon player, as well as providing me with intelligent and well-rounded people to talk to.

To think I used to be one of the Smogon-bashers...

Well, the trading board is better than any other trading hub anywhere, and that's the truth. However...some people are just plain elitist, and mistake Pokemon for some serious life thing. Pokemon is a fun turn based strategy game/RPG, and nothing more. I don't like it when I see people getting mad when they don't see 31/31/31/30/31/31 IVs. First of all, getting 31 IVs in one stat is hard enough, you're wasting your lives when you could be going something productive. "Competitive battling", who here has actually played in official tournaments? You can tell who, they're either the best and brightest in Pokemon or the good striving to be better without wasting their lives.

I would fit in neither, since I've only been to local tournaments. They're just so many fakers...I've learned that you have more fun if you take it casual. How about going to the gym once in a while and practice running and work out, to beat out those stupid Jocks at school in Gym Class? There's nothing more satisfying than living and winning.

I'm just ranting on here, so I digress...but at least heed my words a bit, you don't have to be a Pokemon master to have fun. If you;re super competitive at things like me take it slow and casual, and live will be a lot better, you're problems just fade away when you take things in moderation. Play 3 hours a day at MOST.More than that is too much.

I don't care if you think you're so cool because you're so hardcore you need to play 8 hours, but it's to your health, and it's more fun this way.You have more to look forward to, and the game lasts longer. I know no one on Smogon would ever be a faker, but I've seen plenty about...

This place un-noobed me, for lack of a better word.

I don't even want to think about some of the shit I posted here when I first started. I'm afraid to.

Smogon made me want to play pokemon again...i did quit this when i was like about 12year because of the lack of rivals.... thank you!

Yep brought an excitement back to competitive play ^^ I was a BIG n00b once a while ago, I even used Aggron with Thunder back in those days :(

I thank the Smogon site for learning me to battle with pokes. The most part includes the movesets and good explanation of them in the right side.

For a while I was drifting away from pokemon but Smogon rekindled my love for pokemon and I am very thankful for that.(Special thanks to everyone who keeps this place going, mods, admins, etc.).

I like, actually understand stuff now... lol.

I came to this site as a guy who trained exclusively on the E4.

I left as an EVing, IVing, competitive Bastard! Thanks Smogon!

The old Ever Grande crew, huh? Yeah, me too. Although I met them because I was a part of Smogon. I'm lucky I didn't end up at Serebii or neoseeker or something like that. Smogon, basicallly, has shown me that there's more to Pokemon than having a Lv.100 Kyogre with Sheer Cold.

I just wanna add...

You guys have affected my sense of humor in such ways that an old lady being touched for the first time in 30 years would be saying "WOW" to.

Helped me overall. What else is there to say? Improving my strategy, breeding skills, and making team-building to kick ass fun.

Without Smogon, my summer would have been way too boring. Pokemon was dying for me because I didn't know about competitive battling, and then I came here. I realized how much fun it is to play for more than simply beating the game. Now I can go to the battle me thread whenever and get in a battle in a matter of minutes. Quite a good time.

I learned about EV training, how to train, and what to train. I also learned how to form a team and the different kinds of pokemon (sweepers, walls, ect). Thank you Smogon, for if not for you i would have been pwned so many times over by now.

smogon has allowed me to say whatever is on my mind and not ban me. smogon has allowed me to be a part of the best pokemon forums EVER.

Good trading board, nice people to talk to who know what they are talking about, more competitive players and a spriting thread.

Hm, I can't say it has helped me at all.

I've been here for a short while though, so I'm not really the one to talk. I've browsed over a few other Forums though, and learned from them.

Smogon seems like a great place though, and so far I've enjoyed it here.
