what is hazbin hotel even about (definitive edition)

hazbin is one of those things that ive always been like, somewhat aware of due to it being referenced a lot basically everywhere on the internet, but know essentially nothing about and don't plan on interacting with due to lack of interest and crippling addictions to various other things. similar situation as jojo's bizarre adventure or murder drones. earlier, i remembered that it existed, and contemplated learning more. now, i could be a normal person and just look up a plot summary or whatever, but i think a funnier play would be to:

-post a thread on good ol' smogoff asking for a crowdsourced plot summary of hazbin hotel
-have a bunch of people explain the events that definitely, totally, for sure took place in hazbin
-maybe some people sprinkle in some incorrect info too, but that's fine
-i get an extremely well-developed and accurate idea of what hazbin hotel is like and whenever it comes up in discussion / someone asks me if i know what it is i can go "yeah hazbin is cool" and cite the very accurate facts from this thread until someone claims they're incorrect, at which case i can whip out this very trustworthy forum post as a reputable citation and prove them wrong

if you're reading this, haven't watched it either, and think that would also be funny to do, you can follow suit too! the more the merrier! i suppose i could do this for jojo's or murder drones or any of those other things but i know like a little bit more about pretty much everything else except for hazbin, which would defeat the purpose of a thread like this. i'm honestly extremely bored right now and want to see how an amazing idea like this would go so uh yeah that's pretty much it from me for right now. i look forward to figuring out what hazbin hotel is even about

So a riff of Christian hell and heaven exist and the constant flow of new sinners into hell is causing overpopulation. Heaven determines the solution is mass genocide of hell whereas the daughter of Lucifer believes that eternal damnation and murder is unnecessarily cruel, so she opens a hotel where sinners can have their needs met and focus on redemption in order to hopefully ascend to heaven.

Hell is also disproportionately Latin American. Scholars are still debating what this means.

hey wait a second this sounds suspiciously similar to the events that took place before the main plot of ultrakill

I don't know who this "Lucifer Morningstar" is but his daughter seems pretty cool I think
i dont know who either of those are though

How do you know his last name? That wasn't mentioned in this thread.
search up "Lucifer hazbin hotel"

Look, for someone who hasn't watched a minute of that show (outside of the occasional clip or two), I actually know a surprising amount about the show's characters.

Granted, most of that knowledge stops at their names and a few distinct personality traits, but it's also not zero.

I could also tell you about this show's spin-off that takes place in the same universe (pfp unrelated), but let's keep it to the Hazbin Hotel (for now). You could even say it's one Helluva Ride (pun unrelated).

hazbin hotel is the only series i have ever seen where genocide is actually geniunely half-assed
why don't the angels kill literally every demon? they a) geniunely have the malice to do it b) do literally nothing by culling the demons to prevent an uprising when. you know. the only thing that can hurt them is their own weapons.
thinking about this series for any amount of time is actively dangerous for my mental health.

any amount of info helps. my goal is eventually to turn this into the definitive online plot summary for hazbin and as such i trust you all completely to provide only factual information

can we try to organize things in chronological order though and start with the first episode and move from there? it would make it easier to catalog

As far as I am aware, the Sinners are different from the Hellborn demons (because the Sinners aren't native to Hell and come from Earth - also, Hellborn demons can age and die, whereas Sinners are [mostly] immortal).

Anyways, the main justification for this (that I could find from the show) is that at some point before the main events of the show, Lucifer (the king of hell) took a deal with Heaven to ensure that the Hellborn demons would be spared from the genocide.

I don't know the specifics of this, but if you ever wanted a justification for this, I guess this is the closest you're going to get.
