What is the difference between leading azelf or aerodactyl?

The only thing I can see is that aerodactyl has better speed and different typing. I think that makes aerodactyl better. So im not sure why people would choose azelf, so why?

Azelf learns Dual Screens and Explosion. For that reason it's the standard lead on heavy-offense teams; set up screens, then blow up, then send in a boosting sweeper that can use the screens to help it boost to plough through the opposing team.
