[OVERVIEW]
In a metagame packed with multiple lightning-fast attackers, having reliable speed control can be the difference between a win and a loss, which is exactly what Whimsicott can consistently provide. It has seemingly unlimited options for support moves that can either enable its partner or disrupt the opposing Pokemon. Its Fairy-type STAB moves also certify it as an offensive threat capable of aiding its partner in powerful double targets or outright OHKOing Urshifu-S. However, as Whimsicott is so geared toward a supporting role, it's often reliant on its partner for to make progress in the game. A well-timed Trick Room from the opponent will pretty much ruin anything that Whimsicott hopes to set up as well.
[SET]
name: Tailwind Support
move 1: Moonblast / Dazzling Gleam
move 2: Tailwind
move 3: Helping Hand / Fake Tears
move 4: Protect / Taunt / Encore
item: Focus Sash / Coba Berry / Babiri Berry
ability: Prankster
nature: Timid
evs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
* Moonblast is Whimsicott's preffered attacking option for doing significantly more damage to Yveltal and Galarian Moltres, but Dazzling Gleam has a niche in pairing well with strong Max Moves to pick up a KO and score some extra damage on the remaining foe.
* Whimsicott's Tailwind is practically guaranteed thanks to Prankster, allowing it and its partner to outspeed the metagame's fastest threats such as Regieleki, Zacian-C, and Choice Scarf Kyogre.
* Helping Hand has a wider range of usefulness, being able to aid physical attackers and function within Psychic Terrain. Fake Tears, however, is recommend if Whimsicott is paired with strong special attackers like Calyrex-S and Zapdos.
* Protect keeps Whimsicott safe from Fake Outs aimed at it to prevent Tailwind from being set up. Alternatively, Taunt is notable for shutting down opposing support Pokemon including Amoonguss, Tornadus, and Porygon2, while Encore is excellent for punishing passive play from unsuspecting foes trying to play defensively around Whimsicott's partner. In addition, Encore disrupts Swords Dance users such as Groudon or Zacian-C.
* Focus Sash is the recommended item, but as Whimsicott often finds its niche on hyper offensive teams, there's a very high chance that Focus Sash may already have been taken. In this case, Coba Berry makes for a solid replacement, allowing it to stomach a stray Max Airstream or Hurricane. Babiri Berry also has a niche in being able to keep Whimsicott safe from the onslaught of Steel-types in the metagame like Dialga and Kartana.

Other Options
=============
Energy Ball is an option for an extra attacking move, though Whimsicott loses some if its supportive capability. Trick Room can be used for its surprise factor to counteract opposing speed control, but there are typically few chances to use it well. Charm is a solid option for crippling opposing physical attackers; however, Whimsicott would much rather spend its turn enabling its partner instead of annoying the opponent. Switcheroo + Eject Button can be used to bait and effectively remove the foe's Dynamax at the cost of an item with defensive utility and a supportive moveslot. Sunny Day is a loose way to nerf Kyogre's damage output in the short term, though Kyogre can reset its weather via Max Geyser or with support from Rain Dance Tornadus. Memento is great for reducing the damage output of particularly threatening foes in order to keep Whimsicott's allies safe, but the player must sacrifice their Whimsicott in order to do so.
