Who are your role models?

My biggest role model is Jesus.

For people that I've actually met, my parents. I may hate them sometimes, but they're really amazing parents.

My greatest role models are my friends.

Why? (I'm not being deliberately obtuse towards you m0nkfish, but I've noticed an alarming amount of this sort of thing in the kids' myspace 'heroes' sections.) I know my friends were/are alcoholic idiots - tremendous fun to be around, but definitely not people I'd have wanted to grow up to be like; that distinction is reserved for a few older members of my community who you of course don't know.

The idea of classing celebrities you've never met as 'role models' is strange to me, and I think that most of you are getting it confused with the idea of 'idolizing' someone, which is quite different. Also it is lol how many of you are offering your own parents as good role models. From what I see, most American parents (maybe that's unfair, perhaps I should class it as all Western parents) aren't fit for purpose.

Another one that I thought of yesterday is Greg Maddux. He's one of the best pitchers ever and his fastball is around 85 miles per hour. I'm not a power pitcher but I have better control than 95% of kids my age, so knowing that you don't need an overwhelming fastball to be a great pitcher is a big confidence booster.

sorry, I'm bumping this... never really thought about it when it was near the top of the page.

A lot of people look up to their parents. I also look up to my parents, but in a very different way. I really am not proud of their accomplishments in life. However, they did some very bad things when I was growing up (i.e. alcohol, drugs) and that made me realize that I wanted to forever stay away from that kind of thing. I also love my parents because now my goal in life is too be such a better dad then what mine was. Keep in mind though, that I was not neglected as a child, just treated like shit. (i suppose that is better)

my friends are almost worthless too me in terms of being "role models." It's always cool to chill out and play video games and whatever, but most of my friends are lazy or always looking for the easy way out. Most of the time, I'm their role model, well at least when they want one.

Jesus, is almost unquestionable and do not think he is third in my life. This list is in no particular order.

Great figures in history. I could go on here and post several, but they all have flaws and some people don't realize that their human as well, and will always look at how they were crappy.

The people that are in charge of my scholarship. My scholarship is not really a business like scholarship like so many other ones are. I can actually get up close and personal with the "head honchos" and they are really cool people.

that's about all i guess.

Yeah, I don't really look up to my friends either, they're nice to hang out with but I think differently than most of them, I dunno if that's good or bad but..

I sort of look up to my dad, he likes to joke around with me, spend time with me and stuff, he's not as strict as my friends parents, I guess. I respect that.

Musicians/famous people I don't know that I kind of look up to are..

Jack Johnson (his lyrics and music are genius)
John Lennon (I don't think I have to say why)
Kurt Cobain (yes, he's different from the two above, and no I don't mean I want to take drugs and kill myself, but he's my favourite musician and.. I don't know really how to explain it, so I won't).
