why can’t we run a toaster in water

easy, it's because of newton's third law: every action has an equal and opposite reaction. obviously, when you put a toaster in a bathtub, that action is very rude because now the toast is all soggy and gross and so due to the laws of physics and morality the water must now react by doing something equally rude back, killing you to death. hope this helps!

You don't believe in the toaster enough
To be real with you, once the toaster gives me a reason to believe, I will. In fact, I’ve already addressed this:

Hither, hither. I Lord Bartholmus IV decree that all toasters may run in whichever waters they please. It is not by the judgment of another man that a toaster should not be able to partake in the wonders of the large sea masses, that inward, lie the key to life of our world. My good servant and friend, the aid of kitchen, always dreamed of one day discovering the ocean's treasures, before being smelted alive. He does make a damn good sword though.
