Why Do You Post On Smogoff?

the main thing i appreciate about this place is the complete and utter lack of restrictions. this alternative "posting metagame" where there's no need to stay on topic is helpful for exploring alternative styles and saying things that you could never say otherwise.

to give an example of what i mean, those of you familiar with minecraft might recognize the hermitcraft server series. it consists of some of the best builders to ever touch the game, but a lot of it is just fooling around, having fun, and building stupid things, like this hobbit hole that consists solely of dining hall rooms.

smogoff works similar to this for me. since the objective isn't to communicate a specific point in the lowest possible terms, i've been able to make some really fun threads like I Will Tell Your Fortune where no one really knows what the hell is going on. the idea is to really run with the forum medium and come up with wacky ways to stretch the boundaries of posting.

as for why I post in Smogoff, I've just always really liked the off-topic section of Smogon and it's been cool to help sort of build a community since Smogoff started last year. People come and go but there's always been a neat little section of interesting people and I enjoy the different things that people come up with when it comes to posting. I get at least a few chuckles out of this almost every day so I'd call that a success

The social forums are all really sick and make nice time killers. Smogon is just a nice community, y'know?

Wanted to expand my Smogon socialization outside of the GP server. I'm pretty much retired from C&C at this point, the only format I play these days is Randbats, and I already have several other Discord servers I'm active in that I can't see myself also being active in the Smogon server, so Smogoff seems like the right place for me to be.
