Feminism = Hypocrisy
Why women will most likely never be equal to men in America...
Feminists have been up in arms to protect abortion. Women fought to gain the right to vote, and equality in the workplace. However, how many feminists are battling for the right to be drafted in case of a war? I don't see protestors at capital hill advocating this issue. Also, in Ohio men must pay a monthly sum of money to their ex-wives, or they will be prosecuted by the law. (I forget the technical name for this) This is nothing more than sexism, and it debases women to a lower sect of society. However, it is the kind of sexism that also benefits women. It is the kind of sexism that women beg for when they walk into an interview with a low-cut shirt and a male interviewer.
My point is this: It seems to me as if feminists only want rights that benefit them instead of wanting everything that comes with true freedom. In order for women to be recognized as equal under the law, they must fight for every right that men have, including the draft.
Until it happens, I refuse to respect the feminist movement that I would otherwise agree with.
