NOC WikiMafia 2 Game Thread [Day 5]

genisu died

Dear genisu,

You are David Goggins.

David Goggins does seem to have led an interesting life. A victim of extreme targeted racism during his upbringing, David decided to join the military shortly after. Which is certainly a case study in how the military seems to attract those who are most vulnerable and oppressed and then sends them to die, but I’m actually not infusing this role with my pacifism. Instead, I’m focussing on David Goggins’ extremely prolific running career. Boy can run.

[Passive 1: Nyoooooom]

David Goggins runs a lot. He’s been called a “Hero of Running” by Runner’s World, and if anyone knows running it’s surely the world of runners. He’s run 241 miles before. That’s literally unnecessary, idk what else to say besides good job?

Your role is one that behaves as a long-distance runner’s role should. That is to say, your abilities unlock as the game progresses. Since an ultramarathon is in no way consistent, though, whenever a new ability unlocks, the previous ability you had will lock. The first new “phase” of your role will happen when 5 players die, where Active 1 will lock and Active 2 will unlock. The second “phase” of your role will happen when 11 players die, where Active 2 will lock and Active 3 will unlock.

[Active 1: Alert, Energised, Observant]

[LOCKED]

[Active 2: Steady, Cognisant, Aware]

In stage 2 of an ultramarathon your energy’s certainly depleting. You can still take stock of what’s going on but you’d certainly miss things if you tried to stay aware of the full scene around you. In fact, it’s probably best if you just concentrate on one guy.

At night you may target another player with “Night X -- Laser Focus on [PLAYER1]’s Pace”. You will concentrate on PLAYER1 and track their movements, learning which player(s) they target tonight.

[Active 3: Just. Move.]

[LOCKED]. This ability will unlock when 11 player die.

You are Town. You win when all mafia are dead.

This is how genisu's role looked when he died. However, his locked abilities were:

[Active 1: Alert, Energised, Observant]

At the beginning of an ultramarathon you’re probably pretty present. Y’know, taking in your surroundings, focussing on your own body and breathe, establishing a pace, and seeing what the other competitors are doing with their own paces. All that’s to say, you’re probably watching what’s happening.

At night you may target a player with “Night X -- Watch [PLAYER1]’s Surroundings”. You will watch PLAYER1 and learn which players targeted them tonight.

[Active 3: Just. Move.]

Towards the end of the ultramarathon I’m sure the brain begins to give out completely. You’re still going, of course you are, you need to finish. But how aware you are of anything around you is probably pretty limited.

At night you may target a player with “Night X -- Detect Movement of [PLAYER1]”. Now that all you can think about is movement, that’s all that you can observe in those around you. You will, therefore, learn how much “movement” occurs around PLAYER1. You will receive a number, and this number is the sum of both the number of players PLAYER1 visited, and the number of players who visited PLAYER1 last night.

Night 4 starts now

Peum died last night

Dear Peum,

You are the SCP Foundation.

I hadn’t heard of this before but this is highk a really wholesome project I think lol. As far as I can tell, the SCP Foundation probably started as Doctor Who fanfic, since the original 4chan post is from 22nd June 2007 and features SCP-173 which is pretty explicitly a Weeping Angel. Weeping Angels debuted in Doctor Who on 5th June 2007, and were immediately widely popular since this was during the golden age of Doctor Who and they were a cool and iconic creature. What emerged since then has I think basically become a community fanfic writing project, but most contributors probably don’t realise where its origins are from. And given the current state of Doctor Who’s writing, maybe the show needs to bring some of the contributors on-board.

[Passive 1: SCP-173]

The first ability in the role has to be based on the first SCP, SCP-173. As mentioned above, this is a Weeping Angel, and as such looks like a statue. It behaves like a statue if it’s being perceived by anything, but once it’s out of anyone’s sight, it will move silently and extremely quickly, aiming straight for the throat of anyone nearby.

Harnessing the power of SCP-173, you are usually totally undetectable at night. This means that no one will be able to see who you target with what ability, even via role usage. The only exception to this is if someone else targets you on the same night you target them with an ability, you will not only be detectable but your target will be informed that you visited them last night.

[Active 1: SCP-999]

You just get this one because they’re kinda nice I like it. SCP-999 is a lil slime guy who smells like whatever the person smelling it’s favourite smell is, and it makes them happy. Which as I say, I mean it’s just kinda cute. Unfortunately SCP-999 would probably make me smell my ex, but what can you do. He smelled good.

At night you may target a player with “Night X -- Give [PLAYER1] SCP-999 and send them to [PLAYER2]”. As PLAYER1 is holding SCP-999, PLAYER2 will become enamoured with them; resultantly, if PLAYER1 dies during the next cycle (i.e. next day or night), PLAYER2 will also die. PLAYER2 will be informed of this.

[Active 2: SCP-096]

SCP-096 is a guy who just, doesn’t like to be looked at. Which is relatable some days, so fair enough. Killing anyone who sees you is a bit of an overreaction though. Usually you just put your hood up, or something.

At night you may target a player with “Night X -- Stare At [PLAYER1] To Make Sure They Don’t Stare At You”. If PLAYER1 targets you tonight you will see them do it, and therefore decide they must die. The following night -- for example if this is successful on Night 1, this will happen on Night 2 -- your target will die. This ability still fires if you are killed by PLAYER1, but the kill action itself can be blocked through actions that prevent actions from working. PLAYER1 will, furthermore, be informed of their imminent death with the following message: “You will die during the next night phase, unless someone saves you”.

You are Town. You win when all mafia are dead.
