Azelf (Psychic)

Lead @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature (+Spe/-SpD)
-Stealth Rock
-Psychic
-Explosion
-Taunt

Azelf serves as my leader. It's Spe, as a leader, is only outmatched by Aerodactyl. With the exception of Aerodactyl, it's main method of operating is Taunting the opposing team's leader first. Then Stealth Rocking, and if possible, use Psychic to attack. If not possible, Focus Sash usually saves me and allows me to use Explosion.

Vaporeon (Water)

Standard Wish Support @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 188 HP / 252 Def / 68 Spe
Modest Bold (+Def/-Atk)
-Wish
-Protect
-Surf
-Roar

With Surf/Roar/Wish/Protect, Vaporeon is a necessity to my team. it provides Wish support, can scout teams, and is able to outstall unprepared teams. With Stealth Rocks out, Vaporeon can come in on resistances and i can Roar, predicting the switch, causing Stealth Rock damage, allowing me to scout the opponents team, and potentially putting a dent in their team or allowing Wish

Heatran (Steel/Fire)
490.png

Choice Scarf @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Toxic Heal
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Adamant Naive (+Spe/-SpD)
-Fire Blast
-Earth Power
-Hidden Power Ice
-Explosion

With Explosion/Fireblast/Hidden Power Ice/Earthpower. Heatran is also a reliable revenge killer and is able to explode if its trapped. It makes a great pokemon to switch into after Gengar or Azelf explode as well if I've been able to scout the opponents team with Vaporeon. I use Hidden Power Ice simply because it isn't commonly used and is able to get a few surprise OHKOs

Gengar (Ghost/Poison)
94.png

Life Orb @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Adamant Timid (+Spe/-Atk)
-Shadowball
-Thunderbolt
-Focus Blast
-Explosion
Gengar is great because of its immunities to Ground/Fighting/Normal attacks and great coverage/speed. Explosion is used over Hidden Power Fire because if a pursuit user comes in such as Scizor, Explosion can OHKO (bulky builds also, I think?), and I think that only Life Orb/Choice Band Scizor OHKOs Gengar with Bullet Punch

Latias (Dragon/Psychic)
380.png

Choice Specs @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature (+Spe/-Atk)
-Surf
-Dragon Pulse
-Hidden Power Fire
-Thunderbolt

Latias is naturally speedier than non-scarfed Dragon threats (I.e. Gyarados, Salamence, and Dragonite). Therefore, it serves as my dragon counter and it's also a nice revenge killer. Hidden Power Fire destroys Steel and Grass types. Thunderbolt covers Flying and Water types. Surf covers the Fire weakness my team has. Dragon Pulse is pretty much neutral damage to everything else and hits Dragons hard.

Tyranitar (Rock/Dark)

Choice Scarf @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Modest Nature (+Spe/-SpA)
-Crunch
-Stone Edge
-Pursuit
-Superpower

With Stone Edge, Pursuit, Superpower, and Crunch, T-tar is used mostly for revenge killing. Pursuit allows it to trap pokemon that would switch out on it. Stone Edge and Superpower are great if I can predict a switch that has a weakness and Crunch is a strong, reliable STAB move

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can Azelf bend it's arms?
Can Vaporeon straighten it's tail??
Why does Heatran always look like he's in pain???
Will Gengar's botox ever wear off???!
Is Latias' arm suppose to bend that way???!!
Why does Tyranitar look like an anorexic Artichoke???!!!

You may want to replace thunderbolt or hp fire with Draco Meteor on Latias. Draco Meteor allows you to punch big holes into your opponents team. Otherwise this team seems pretty good.

Hi.

Having three Pokemon weak to Dark, Ghost and Bug is definitely going to make Pursuit users such as Scizor and Tyranitar an instant problem seeing as both can instantly take out three of your Pokemons with ease. Also, having no Rock resist means that nothing can switch-into Tyranitar. Another problem in synergy is the fact that you have only one Steel type on your team. In a metagame so centralised around Dragon types, every team needs at least two Steel types to take those random Draco Meteor and Outrages.

Those were the problems in synergy. Your team has some problems with a few offensive threats; those being Salamence, Tyranitar and Metagross. Salamence, notably Dragon Dance Salamence is the threat this team doesn't want to encounter while playing as it can easily set-up on Heatran locked onto Earthpower, Latias locked onto Surf or HP Fire and Tyranita locked onto Superpower. If it does get the DD, it will 6-0 you with ease as it outspeeds your whole team and decimates each one of your Pokemons with the appropriate move. Having only one Steel type in Heatran doesn't help either, especially because it is outsped and OHKOed with Earthquake. Tyranitar is another huge threat to this team as it can effectively trap half your team with Pursuit and take them out instantly. Also, nothing can switch-into a Stone Edge since you have no Rock resist. DD Tyranitar is also an instant threat as it can set-up on one of your three Pokemons locked onto the wrong move and sweep your team clean. The final threat I want to point out is Agility Metagross that can set-up on Heatran locked onto HP Ice, Latias locked onto Dragon Pulse and Tyranitar locked onto Stone Edge. After having set-up, Meteor Mash disposes of Azelf, Tyranitar, Latias and Gengar while Earthquake OHKOes Heatran and Zen Headbutt / Thunder Punch takes care of Vaporeon.

In order to solve this issue, I would like to reccomend using Swampert instead of Azelf as a lead. This team doesn't really need a suicide lead - Swampert on the other hand sets up Stealth Rock and provides a Rock resist and an excelent Tyranitar counter. With Wish support it will easily last very long. At full health, it can take a +1 Outrage from Salamence and retaliate with a x4 SE Ice Beam. Also, it provides a solid Agil-Gross counter, only fearing Explosion and being able to threaten it with STAB Earthquake. The 4 Spe EVs allow you to get the upper hand against opposing lead Swampert by Roaring the out first. Here's the set:

Swampert @ Leftovers | Torrent
Relaxed | 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Earthquake | Ice Beam | Stealth Rock | Roar

This is the kind of team where CB Scizor would be more useful than Scarf Tyranitar. CB Scizor provides a solid switch-in to Dragon attacks. Heatran is already checking SD Lucario (even better than TTar because it resists Bullet Punch) and with a Choice Scarf, you already have a decent revenge killer. Also, the main advantages of Scarf Tar over Scizor would be it's ability to effectively beat Rotom-A but with Heatran and Latias on the team, Rotom-A isn't really needed. It also revenge kills Salamence and Tyranitar if needed. The reason why I'm not suggesting the standard Choice Band set is because you already have two Choice users and three would be way too much, opening up opportunities for threats to set-up. Here's the set:

Scizor @ Life Orb | Technician
Adamant | 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
Bullet Punch | U-Turn | Roost | Pursuit

Now, Gengar is one of those Pokemon you have to play carefully with to succeed using it. Otherwise, it will just be taken out immediately with Pursuit against Tyranitar and Scizor. In order to make Gengar less vulnerable to Pursuit, I would reccomend using Protect over Explosion and HP Fire over Thunderbolt. If Tyranitar or Scizor switch-in, just Protect to scout, if the foe chooses Pursuit, use HP Fire or Focus Blast depending on the situation and if they Bullet Punch / Crunch, switch-out.
Since Swampert has Roar, I would suggest using HP Electric instead of Roar on Vaporeon which makes it one of the most reliable Gyarados counters.

Here are the changes summarized:
  • Replace Azelf with Swampert
  • Replace Tyranitar with Scizor
  • On Gengar, use Protect instead Explosion and HP Fire instead of Thunderbolt
  • HP Electric over Roar
