Wobbacario

Intro

Hey Smogon, I'm back with my second RMT, and I think this team is much better than my previous one. It uses the Wobbaffet - Lucario combo which works wonders, only problem is this is Dream World so Shandera could cause some problems for Lucario. It does have some support for taking out Shandera, which is a huge threat if it's scarfed. Overall, I find that this team has been working much than the previous one and I'm very pleased with the success.

To start off, like I said, I'll be using the Wobbaffet - Lucario combo. Once Wobbaffet takes out most of Lucario's threats, Lucario can come in and start to sweep.

Now I needed some support, a revenge killer for when Wobbaffet went down. Genosekuto is one of the best revenge killers out there, the only downside is he's the reason I play in Dream World.

Now I needed Stealth Rocks, along with some bulk that helps a lot in the long run. Swampert works well, since it does have a decent amount of bulk and the ability to get Stealth Rocks up, along with being able to pHaze the opponent with Roar.

At this point, I wasn't sure what to put in, so I put it into a type chart and saw that I had no Water resist, so I put in a Cloyster. It has a 4x Resist to Water attacks and has access to Shell Smash, which makes Cloyster a secondary sweeper, with some extra Physical bulk.

After looking through the team, I wasn't sure what to put in next. I noticed I had a pretty big Gyarados weakness once Genosekuto was gone, so I wanted something fast to be able to hit Gyarados hard and OHKO. Aakeosu has great stats, so it would be able to OHKO Gyarados with a Stone Edge every time.

After some more testing and a couple of rates, I decided to replace Swampert and Aakeosu with Heatran and Breloom, respectively.

In-Depth

649.gif

Genosekuto @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Download
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Mild Nature (+SAtk, -Def)
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- U-turn
- Flamethrower

Role: Attacking lead and Revenge Killer

Moves: The Bolt-Beam combo covers just about everything. Thunderbolt for Flying types and Water types, and Ice Beam for pretty much everything else. With this much Special Attack, I have yet to find anything (bar Urugamosu) that won't get 2HKO'd by this. Flamethrower is for Nattorei and other Steel types, which wall Genosekuto pretty well, and U-Turn is used when I get an Attack raise from Download rather than Special Attack. At that point, the Attack is higher than the Special Attack so U-Turn hits a lot harder.

Item/Nature: The Choice Scarf is what makes Genosekuto such a great Attacking lead and Revenge Killer. It outspeeds almost everything, and hits pretty much everything too. The Nature is so Genosekuto can still get the Special Attack that it wants, while keeping enough power for U-Turn to do a decent amount of damage.

Heatran (M) @ Balloon
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
- Flamethrower
- Hidden Power [Electric]

Role: Set up Stealth Rocks and powerful Fire type

Moves: Stealth Rock should be on most teams, and this was the best place that it fit. Earth Power is for other Heatrans or Fire types that come in on Heatran, Flamethrower is a great Fire attack. I would use Fire Blast, but I hate to risk miss hax, and Flamethrower is powerful enough with Heatran as it is, so it works pretty well. Hidden Power [Electric] is for Gyarados that would come in and try to set up, if they do, they get hit hard with Hidden Power [Electric]. If they don't set up, Genosekuto can come in and revenge.

Item/Nature: The Item gets rid of Heatran's 4x Ground weakness, which helps a lot, since it usually has to get hit by a non-Super Effective move first. The Nature allows Heatran to get up Stealth Rocks quickly, and outrun other Heatran.

202.gif

Wobbuffet (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Shadow Tag
EVs: 28 HP / 252 Def / 228 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Encore
- Counter
- Mirror Coat
- Safeguard

Role: Lucario support and trapper

Moves: These moves work great for Wobbuffet, Encore to make sure the opponent stays on an Attacking move, Counter to hit Physical Attacks hard, and most likely OHKO thanks to Wobbuffet's great HP. Mirror Coat is for Special Attackers, which will also most likely OHKO thanks to a huge HP Base Stat. Finally, Safeguard is to make sure Wobbuffet doesn't get status-ed which could be a problem since Wobbuffet has to be able to take a lot of hits to be effective.

Item/Nature: The Item is to regain health that Wobbuffet lost while countering the opponent, and the Nature is to ensure as much Special Defense as possible to allow Wobbuffet to survive more hits.

Lucario (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Steadfast
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- ExtremeSpeed
- Crunch

Role: Physical Sweeper

Moves: This moveset is meant for spamming priority attacks. After +2 from a Swords Dance, which Lucario almost always gets when it comes in at the right time, Lucario can wreck havoc with ExtremeSpeed and Bullet Punch. Close Combat is for the slower pokemon with resistances to ExtremeSpeed (i.e. Steel types). But this is where Shandera can be a problem. Close Combat and ExtremeSpeed are useless against Shandera, but this is why Bullet Punch was changed to Crunch, to counter Ghost types and Psychics. After taking out Ghost types, Lucario can sweep pretty easily.

Item/Nature: The Item and Nature give Lucario max power. Since the moveset is mostly priority moves, Lucario needs as much power as possible to get OHKO's and survive to continue sweeping.

Breloom (M) @ Shed Shell
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Mach Punch
- Bullet Seed
- Drain Punch

Role: Grass type and Doryuuzu counter.

Moves: Swords Dance helps Mach Punch get so many more OHKO's than it normally would. Mach Punch and Technician works great, it OHKO's Doryuuzu and just about anything that doesn't resist it. Bullet Seed takes out Bulky Waters pretty easily, which could do a pretty good job of stalling me out. Drain Punch is for slower types that Mach Punch wouldn't OHKO, and it helps Breloom restore some HP.

Item/Nature: The Item is to make sure Shandera doesn't trap Breloom, which would immediately kill it since all of its moves are pretty much useless. The Nature is to help Mach Punch get more power for more OHKO's.

091.gif

Cloyster (M) @ Chople Berry
Trait: Skill Link
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Shell Smash
- Icicle Spear
- Rock Blast
- Shell Blade

Role: Water resist and secondary physical set-up sweeper

Moves: Shell Smash Cloyster works wonders. After 1 turn of setting up, Cloyster can begin to take everything out 1 by 1, with Icicle Spear (which even OHKOs a Skarmory), Rock Blast, and Shell Blade. Skill Link makes Icicle Spear and Rock Blast have 5x the power they normally would, plus a Shell Smash which gives +2 attack and that's almost GG. Rock Blast is for other Cloyster, like if we both set up at the same time or something, and Shell Blade is a powerful Water attack which this team lacked before Cloyster was added in.

Item/Nature: The Item is what it is for 1 reason: Mach Punch. After a Shell Smash, Cloyster gets destroyed by Mach Punch, especially coming from Roobushin. Plus, I can't have Cloyser losing too much HP with a Life Orb since it would probably take it hit while setting up. The Nature makes sure Cloyster can get the OHKO, which comes through in the end when a Jolly nature doesn't do enough by the smallest amount.

Some Threats

Kingdra - In the rain, Kingdra rips this team apart. My only hope is for Cloyster to come in and somehow take it out with Icicle Spear, which wouldn't happen normally unless Kingdra has taken some damage from Life Orb previously.

Urugamosu - This thing is such a pain. I have nothing that can do anything, except for maybe Lucario with ExtremeSpeed after Stealth Rock damage, and that's assuming I even have Stealth Rocks up. If I don't, I'm swept.

I would make quite a few coverage. You lack many aspects and coverage.

Replace Swampert with nattorei. Any varient would work, seed+rocks is what i recommend though.

I would also consider replacing swampert with heatran to set up rocks (use balloon to counter dory) and then replacing cloyster or the other bird guy with technition breloom. Provides grass coverage and allows set up physical sweep

Other than that, it looks decent. Don't have time to analyze any more since it's late but...

First, I must object to the choice of Aakeos. +1 DD Gyarados outspeeds and 1HKOs so how is it a reliable gyarados counter? It's not like it can switch into gyrados either as unboosted waterfall would take him out. Also, with no rapid spin support and no taunter, stealth rocks are definately going to be up which really limits its use. Nothing on your team obviously baits a ground move other than lucario so it's not like it has many opportunities to switch in. I'm not experienced yet to suggest something else in its place though.

Lucario should also run crunch instead of bullet punch. Your current lucario is totally walled by any decently bulky ghost in particular Burungeru. Would be kinda a waste to have wobbuffet doing all that just to see lucario being forced out. Wobbuffet also cannot trap shandera since it also has shadow tag.

Finally, bug buzz honestly isnt doing much for Genosekuto. I would suggest flamethrower instead to deal with grass/steels and bug/steels.

Bullet Punch is kind of useless on Lucario. Even with STAB it's still weaker than neutral Extemespeed. And Close Combat covers what resists ES. You're much better off with Crunch for Ghosts and Psychics, or Ice Punch for Gliscor, Landlos and Dragons.

Flamethrower is way better on Genosect than Bug Buzz. Redundant with U-Turn anyway and you can hit Scizor and Nattorei. You could also run HP Ground for Heatran.

I would consider White Herb on Cloyster which neutralizes the defense drop from one Shell Break.

A negative priority move on Aarkeos that requires being above 50% health for efficiency is a bad idea. It's speed is its asset. You'd be better off with a Choice Band for immediate power but stealth rock and priority (weak to Aqua Jet and Bullet Punch, neutral to Mach Punch) really hinders its usefulness.

I'm going to agree with everybody above me, and re-iterate this. Run Crunch over Bullet Punch. You're not hitting that much else with BP for priority than you are with Extremespeed. Crunch allows you near-perfect coverage, so definitely run that. Also, seconding Jaroda's notion. With your current Genosekt, you can't hit popular Steel leads. Definitely dump Bug Buzz for Flamethrower. BoltBeam + Flamethrower is godmode.

In order for Aeokusu to be effective, you need to have a spinner. I would suggest adding in a physically defensive Forretress in place of Swampert - it can spin, put up rocks, and hit antispinners hard.

[box]Forretress @ Shed Shell / Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Atk
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
0 Speed IV
- Gyro Ball
- Payback
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock[/box]

Since that would mean too many fire-weaks, you could now replace your scarf Genosekt lead with a ScarfNite. Similar type coverage, Multi-Scale for great bulk, and insanely hard hits with Draco Meteor. Still serves as a great revenge killer. Could even go mixed to break walls. So many options, but something like this could work:

[box]Dragonite @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Multi-Scale
EVs: no idea maybe 128 Atk / 128 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive / Hasty nature
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast / Flamethrower
- Superpower / Brick Break
- Roost / EQ / Ice Beam[/box]

If you're worried about the 3 Rock-weaks, you could then run a Scarf Sazandora or Scarf Latios instead, but those don't handle LeadTar nearly as well.

Good luck with the team!

Thanks for the rates.

@Vemane
Heatran over Swampert and Breloom over Aakeosu sounds good. I've tested it, and I like the way its working. I'll update the thread shortly.

@LabRay
I see your point with Gyarados. Aakeosu is being replaced, so it shouldn't be much of a problem. Also, Bullet Punch will be replaced with Crunch.

@Jaroda
I considered most of those changes, but never actually put them into action. I'll make the changes, except for White Herb on Cloyster, after a Shell Smash, Cloyster won't be taking too many hits anyway, its its still got high Defense. So I think the Item will stay. Also, as I said before, Aakeosu is being replaced.

@y4f
Aakeosu is being replaced, so I don't need the spinner. And Genosekuto has been working fine, so I don't see a reason to replace him.

I think this is just a small hint, but give Heatran Heat Wave instead of Flamethrower. It's stronger then Flamethrower and more accurate then Fire Blast. It sounds pretty good to me. Good luck with your team!

Hey dude, this is a decent team that does ok in setting up Lucario. A Wobbuffet + Lucario core is very potent and it works very well. However, it seems that you have a few large problems in your team, probably due to you being to focused on setting up Lucario. You have large weaknesses to Roobushin, Chople Berry Doryuuzu, Skymin and SD Yache Berry Chomp. Roobushin can Bulk Up and could pretty much 6-0 your whole team quite easily with team support. Doryuuzu can set up on something, resist the Breloom Mach Punch due to the berry and then sweep your team, although many people lack a counter to Doryuuzu as it had so many ways to get past it's counters. Skymin with substitute can also take a similar role, although you should be ok if Genosekuto is still alive. And finally, Garchomp KOs your whole team and doesn't die from Ice Beam due to the berry and I'm pretty sure it can take a Mach Punch too. To stop these threats, I recommend a Skarmory. You can use it over Heatran or something, I'm not really sure where it would fit in. It easily walls Doryuuzu, it can take one attack from Roobushin and then phase it away, it can take a Garchomp that is stuck into Outrage and it resists Skymin's two stabs, although nothing can really counter that guy as it just flinches you to hell anyway and Genosekuto can kinda take care of it. Something like this:

Skarmory @ Shed Shell
Impish Nature (+Def, -SpA)
252HP/252Def/4SpD (Skarm needs all the Physical Defence it can get)
~Spikes
~Roost
~Brave Bird
~Whirlwind/Taunt

*You could also put some EVs into speed to help keep the Offensive theme of this team. Good team, just keep working on it and try to get some help from some of the more experienced battlers. Keep up the good work.
