Welcome to the ninth edition of the World Cup of 1v1. This year, twelve teams are battling it out to see who can claim to be the 1v1 World Champions!

Rules
General Rules:
- General tournament rules and regulations can be found here.
- If metagame changes occur during the middle of a round, they will take effect in the subsequent round.
- Battles must take place on either Smogtours or Pokemon Showdown!
- Replays are required. Any win post without replays will not be counted

Substitutions:
- If you are unable to schedule with your opponent, please let your managers know ASAP so they can communicate that to us or the other team's managers for a potential substitute.
- When making a substitution, please the host team, the managers of the opposing team, and all of the players affected by the substitute to ensure that everyone is made aware.
- Keep in mind once a player is subbed out, they cannot be subbed back into the same round, but can be put back onto the roster for next round.
- Substitutions will not be allowed in tiebreak series unless both teams agree (or TDs enforce double sub). We will be reluctant to give activity wins to those who are clearly fishing for them.

Sportsmanship:
- Note the sportsmanship infraction may be used liberally this 1v1 WC, and any unsportsmanlike conduct on the forums, in the tours games, or 1v1 discord will be grounds for an infraction.

SV 1v1 Bo7: Kaif vs. lost heros - despite Kaif going negative in a pool, it was a competitive pool and with proper team building support this should be a win
SV 1v1 Bo7: LittEleven vs. bellchime - room for this to go the other way but hard to favor litt here
SV 1v1 Bo5: DEG vs. Marshmelto - DEG seems better equipped for the meta (albeit where the hell did marsh go in pools)
SV 1v1 Bo5: glitched vs. Nick - I trust Asia SV teambuilding abilities much more then South's, which comes into play in this matchup especially since neither are known for SV

SV 1v1 Bo7: Fancy1 vs. frogfacts - THE COLD FRENCH FRIES BOWL! Fancy1 is coming off of a pool 3-0 out of Kala chasmah Kaif and Indi, while frogfacts is coming off of sending 3 countries to a flight. Considering this and the fact that Europe allowed frogfacts to load up Specs ninetales, two volcanions, and bullet seed band zarude (TAKE THIS SHIT OUT THE COMP!), it comes to no surprise that I got frogfacts winning in 7 to send Europe to tiebreak.

SV 1v1 Bo7: Kaif vs. lost heros (55-45)- Kaif's only win in pools was vs an 0-3 player but his fundamentals are still a step above what ive seen from lost heros. The reason this is close is because south's sv environment is way stronger. Would not be surprised to see LH take this.
SV 1v1 Bo7: LittEleven vs. bellchime (20-80)- I'm going to keep dodge slotting aura aside, lumi is still one of the best historic sv records and she's beaten better SV players than Litt.
SV 1v1 Bo5: DEG vs. Marshmelto (60-40)- Marsh can take this if he doesnt get subbed out because he didnt schedule until saturday, or if he doesnt click random 0-3 nonsense. So deg got this.
SV 1v1 Bo5: glitched vs. Nick - nice ss5 matchup, can go either way.
SS 1v1 Bo7: Frailty vs. crow crumbs - I've always seen frailty being way more comfy in ss than sv, but Bird has escaped pools with a net neutral aura balance so the stars are aligned in their favor.
SM 1v1 Bo5: Baleblaze vs. Squirtell 1v1 - its squirtel
ORAS 1v1 Bo5: trace vs. torterraxx - I have no idea how much trace has played oras in the past and tort is a mainer
BW 1v1 Bo5: Palestine vs. Rei - if deg builds

US West + Central (6) vs. Europe (2)
SV 1v1 Bo7: DripLegend vs. Eeveekid10 (70-30) - Rooting for her but I can't bold glacy in good faith after seeing her throw multiple previews in pools.
SV 1v1 Bo7: Fancy1 vs. frogfacts (60-40) - Wc really tearing apart the polycule. Obviously fancy1 is great in this slot, but frog lost out from his 2-1 in his teamtour debut very narrowly. Both need to control their overthinking, but Fancy's environment + baseline skill is way better.
SV 1v1 Bo5: happysh vs. LB (80-20) - Happysh is a better pilot
SV 1v1 Bo5: Nuxl vs. Nunnbetter (80-20) - Sv7 pl starter vs SS mainer
SS 1v1 Bo7: zioziotrip vs. neomon - I dont trust people coming right off the bench, especially into an elite player
SM 1v1 Bo5: Waylaid vs. Kry - Looking forward to watching this. Leaning towards Kry but Way can 100% take this.
ORAS 1v1 Bo5: Synonimous vs. SEROO - Seroo has won this b4 but i trust playoffs synon.
BW 1v1 Bo5: eblurb vs. Iron Crusher - When was the last time eblurb has built a bw team. Insert jokes about ghosting and classic and valorant.
