[OVERVIEW]

  • Wormadam-Trash is a niche defensive Pokemon that has a fantastic typing, which grants it eight resistances and one immunity. Thanks to good defenses and a solid Bug / Steel typing it can also check a plethora of threats such as Kangaskan, Clefairy, Jynx, and Defensive Mesprit; and it finds many opportunities to set up entry hazards or fire off Toxic to annoy the opposing team because of this.
  • Wormadam-Trash is also notably one of the best switch-ins to Aurorus for bulky teams.
  • On the downside, Wormadam-Trash lacks reliable recovery, meaning it can be worn down and struggle to check Pokemon like Aurorus that it's tasked to handle.
  • Unfortunately, Wormadam-Trash faces competition from Ferroseed, which has access to Spikes, Leech Seed, and significantly higher bulk.
  • Despite having a good defensive typing, it leaves Wormadam-Trash weak to common Fire-types like Pyroar, and Pokemon like Offensive Mesprit, Lurantis, and Probopass can dismantle it via coverage options.
  • Lastly, Wormadam-Trash's lack of offensive presence combined with very low Speed makes it very passive, meaning it can be used as setup bait by setup sweepers such as Gurdurr and Alolan Sandslash.
  • Despite these weaknesses, Wormadam-Trash is still an advantageous Stealth Rock setter that excels on defensive teams as a check to many prominent attackers.

Usage Tips
========

  • Wormadam can use its great typing and bulk to pivot into the likes of Aurorus, Mesprit, and Clefairy in order to setup Stealth Rock or weaken the opposing team via Toxic. Even though Wormadam-Trash is meant to be used as a special wall, it can pivot into some physical attackers such as Kangaskan, thanks to its unique Bug / Steel typing.
  • Since Wormadam-Trash has no reliable recovery, be careful about what you switch it into, as it may be difficult to check Pokemon like Aurorus later in the match.
  • Wormadam-Trash should use Protect to scout Pokemon that might carry coverage moves such as Mesprit, restore HP via Leftovers, and also scout for Choiced-locked Pokemon such as Primeape. Keep in mind that Protect should be used carefully as it can potentially give a free turn of setup to the opponent.
Team Options
========

  • Wormadam-Trash fits well on defensive teams as a defensive Stealth Rock setter that can check special attackers like Aurorus.
  • While Wormadam-Trash is able to tank hits from many special attackers, it cannot switch into Fire-type Pokemon like Pyroar. To remedy this, Wormadam-Trash pairs well with Fire-type checks such as Lanturn. Futhermore, Wormadam-Trash can use its Steel-typing to pivot into Aurorous for Lanturn.
  • Audino provides Wish and Heal Bell support, which increases Wormadam-Trash's longevity since it lacks reliable recovery. Addionally, Audino has great defensive synergy with Wormadam-Trash, as its able to take on special attackers like Pyroar that pose a threat to Wormadam-Trash.
  • Weezing is also an ideal teammate that can pivot into Fighting-types such as Primeape and Gurdurr. Weezing will have ample oppertunites to lay Toxic Spikes; and Wormadam-Trash can captialize off this by stalling out its foes with Protect. In return, Wormadam-Trash can check special attackers such as Mesprit for Weezing.
  • Ghost-types like Oricorio-G and Sabeleye are able to keep Wormadam-Trash's Stealth Rocks on the field by switching into Rapid Spin users like Hitmonchan. The former two also have access to Taunt, meaning they can also stop slower deffogers.

Other Options
=============

  • Wormadam-T can forgo a physically defensive spread to better take on physical attackers such as Primeape but such a set is outclassed by Pokemon like Ferroseed and Tangela, who are bulkier and have access to recovery.
  • Wormadam-T can use Gyro Ball to deal more damage to fast Pokemon such as Alolan Raichu but Gyro Ball has fewer PP than Iron Head and fails to beat Clefairy.
