It's kinda like nba or nfl stuff
honestly I think PS is better because then you don't have people turning their 3ds off and then claiming that it was their internet going out and that's why they lost connection. If it was done, I'd expect it to be in game.
So you want to punish those that legitimately do have internet connection issues then? great plan. I want to see you run an online tournament with that rule and then lets see how many people get mad that they lost a match because of internet issues. See how that turns out for you.if you got disconnected during battle spot, you lose. just make the players take a picture of the disconnection screen if they want to use this excuse
1. read what I addedhm then make them take proof-pictures of their disconnection :0

Edit: Oh and before someone else comes defending this, please think before you reply. I don't want to read a horrible counter argument for a horrible idea. Having it on showdown is the best idea and the only negative that actually makes any kind of sense would be that it takes longer to finish matches and god forbid people turning the timer on to help speed up the process.
yes and you can reconnect and not be punished for it when you actually do disconnect because of your internet compared to in game where you're SOL and automatically lose no questions asked. You can disconnect on showdown too. Sure, you have a window to reconnect, but if your router suddenly decides to reboot itself (as mine has done in the past), that always takes longer than the 120 seconds or whatever you're given on PS.
While this is true it's still not much of a problem where people will be stalling for about 6 hours so it's a rather moot point.PS also does not have a properly implemented timer. Timer stalling is a real thing in VGC and PS' complete lack of one completely ignores that part of the metagame. You can only get "true" timers (i.e., taking animation length into account) on the cart. The only problem is that there's no way to enforce this on cart since you're stuck with the 1 hour timer outside of official events.
Another rather moot point as it's just as much of a guessing game on showdown as it is in gamePS also lets you "take back" a move you clicked on, which of course is impossible on cart.
It's also a very minor thing but you can also use a pokemon's pokeball to get information about it. A pokemon in an apricorn ball, for example, guarantees that it doesn't have its hidden ability. And although I don't think we have any cases of this in VGC2015, back in '14 a cherish ball tyranitar meant it had ice punch.

Well I meant immediately punished. As in you have a shot of getting back into your match instead of immediately having the match recorded as a loss no questions asked on battle spotWhat do you mean by "not be punished for it"? If you don't reconnect within the 120 seconds or however much PS gives you, you're SOL there as well.
What do you mean by "if" all premiere league matches are on showdown for smogon. And obviously they use the timer for such issues so that way there isn't time stalling. Then you press the "enable timer" button if they're being dicks about timer stalling. If we do end up going with PS instead of cart, I'd still suggest enforcing a 15 minute time limit or whatever they use in IRL tournaments. It would be great if we could change PS to have a shorter turn timer for VGC as well.
Making up silly scenarios does not validate your argument either. In doubles I cannot stress to you how much that it really doesn't matter if kangaskahn's in an apricorn ball, dream ball, great ball, or master ball. 99.999999999999999999999999999999% of the time it's going to be mega-evolving or why would they have it in the first place. Thus having inner focus or not having inner focus is a moot point.Dismissing my argument does not refute it. It's still a valid point -- for example, a kangaskhan in an apricorn ball guarantees that it does not have Inner Focus.
Not going to argue either way, but knowing that Kang has scrappy over inner focus is a big deal if you lead with a ghost or fake-out user.Making up silly scenarios does not validate your argument either. Also, why not just have half the league play on Showdown and the other half on cartridge?
I thought a premier league had teams? Can't half the team members play showdown and the other half play online, so when teams meet they only match up in that way.Because then you can have one person that plays only on showdown and one that only plays in game matched against each other. Do you really want to have be one of the admins that has to deal with that kind of issue?
Unless you are demanding/expecting teams to carry two players FOR EVERY TIER one for showdown and one for in game which means that teams would look like this; one OU showdown player, one OU in game player, one UU showdown player, one UU in game player, etc, this wouldn't ever work. I mean that's just spoiled brat logic to expect an already established system to suddenly change and to cater to the new kids on the block just because they don't want to play on showdown. Not to mention there might not even be enough players to do that. And their might not be enough teams for the half and half split perfectly down the middle with like OU, RU, UU, all play on showdown, and Ubers, VGC, and NU play in game while the other half of the league is vice versa.I thought a premier league had teams? When did we ever start talking about the other tiers? Adding VGC to the SPL is one thing (At which point I totally agree it should be on sim), but having a separate premier league for just VGC would make this totally plausible. Rosters of 6 with 3 cartridge players and 3 Showdown players? Totally doable if you had the support.Unless you are demanding/expecting teams to carry two players FOR EVERY TIER one for showdown and one for in game which means that teams would look like this; one OU showdown player, one OU in game player, one UU showdown player, one UU in game player, etc, this wouldn't ever work.
