  • Thunderbolt should be ran with Tera Electric and provides coverage for Ho-Oh as well as dealing good damage to Steel-types like Necrozma-DM and Zacian-C, although if Ho-Oh is a particular issue Hidden Power Rock can be opted for instead to specifically target it, as it allows Xerneas to OHKO Ho-Oh without Tera. Thunder is another viable option, OHKOing Ho-Oh and Necrozma-DM with minimal chip damage, but its accuracy means that Tera Electric Thunderbolt is more consistent.
  • Substitute blocks status that are crippling to it like bad poisoning from Toxic and paralysis from Thunder Wave and Glare and allows it to tank hits from Pokemon like Chansey's Seismic Toss and stop status like.
