Xerneas @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Moonblast
- Aromatherapy
- Grass Knot / Hidden Power [Fire] / Thunder
- Defog
Xerneas's excellent array of utility options became even more expansive after it gained access to Defog in the USM generation. Thanks to its ability to force many switches, Choice Scarf Xerneas can take advantage of an opponent's tendencies to frequently retreat to Xerneas's checks to provide its teams with cleric support or entry hazard removal, and this role compression is almost exclusive to Xerneas. Choice Scarf Xerneas also excels against offensive teams, as it can easily revenge kill dangerous foes like Yveltal, Marshadow, and Ultra Necrozma, which Xerneas fails to outspeed with different sets. Stallbreakers like Primal Kyogre, Gothitelle, and Swords Dance variants of Primal Groudon and Necrozma-DM can deal with Xerneas's conventional checks and counters. Solid Stealth Rock users like Primal Groudon and Arceus-Ground can also alleviate this set's helplessness against Ho-Oh, and they can offensively handle Steel-types as well.
